  1. Unfortunately, Fletcher isn’t Eaton. He has zero pop and can’t hit. Just a good glove. He’s a fourth outfielder.
  2. Shuster got the high strike call for ball 4 but then just threw one wide on the very next pitch anyways.
  3. Yes, yes he does. He is just a lucky pitcher, usually, which is why he has a low ERA. His strikeouts and WHIP suck.
  4. If you miss Vargas, here’s some footage of him from batting practice…
  5. I agree with you. I was referring to the meatball fans that think making a bunch of big signings this offseason would be the fix to losing.
  6. Getz is setting expectations for the Sox fans who are pissed off about this season and that are expecting dramatic offseason moves, because they aren’t happening. Getz also recently used the word “rebuild” for the first time.
  7. Ah okay. I did not know this. Surprising considering he was with the Mets, Mariners, and Rockies for years.
  8. Oh, I’m sure they will add a couple hitters but they will be DeJong/Lopez/Sheets quality and under $5 million. Here is the proof if @WBWSF doesn’t believe you… https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/sports/mlb/chicago-white-sox/getz-reveals-white-sox-dont-plan-on-being-big-spenders-in-free-agency/3556463/?os=i&ref=app%3Famp&amp=1
  9. Flexen has a 3-15 record. Touki or some other starter/swingman bum could have done the job, ate innings, and contributed to losses just the same as Flexen. It wouldn’t have mattered.
  10. Every team has those examples. It happens in every sport. Owners should have a short memory on that stuff. You can’t just stop signing any top players to big contracts because you’ve had a few albatrosses.
  11. At least he’s likable and can learn on the job while the team is horrible. Like a younger Renteria.
  12. Yep. Even if TA was truly an egotistical jagoff, if he was still hitting, some team would acquire him. Jack Parkman style…
  13. If you looked at it as an acquisition that was meant for a contender maybe. But I disagree because the goal was to actually get something in return for his offseason acquisitions. DeJong and even Pham were at least dealt for a return.
  14. Yep, he still has some archaic notion that the owners are responsible for the popularity of baseball, not the star players. So he doesn’t think the players should get paid like their are these days. Which is mostly just because he doesn’t want to pay a player as much money as the are making now.
  15. Back when he was a brand new owner and probably truly wanted to win as much as make money. But that definitely changed and he started mainly caring about the profits.
  16. You’ve seen what positional starting talent Getz acquired this year. He thought Fletcher and Vargas were starting caliber. Getz couldn’t build a new quality lineup in 3 years if he sold his soul to the devil. They have what, two prospects right now that may be quality starters in Montgomery and Ramos? And even they aren’t sure bets.
  17. Huh? Crochet is a free agent in 2027. A 3-year extension now would buy out his last 2 arbitration years (2025 and 2026) and his first year of free agency in 2027. He would then be a free agent in 2028. What you are describing would have to be a 5-year extension, which Jerry likely wouldn’t approve for a pitcher.
  18. I’d like to hear from the posters who want to sign Crochet to a 3-year extension… Will the rest of the team be good enough with Crochet here to win anything in the next 3 years? With what lineup?
  19. Now this is true, as long as players are still willing to sign with the worse team in baseball.
  20. His job was to perform good enough to get traded for a prospect at the deadline. He didn’t. Failed signing.
  21. Well, that’s different. You are paying to watch a bunch of teams, not just the lowly Sox.
  22. So Flexen ended up earning $2.75 million on the season. The goal was to get back something for him at the trade deadline but this sly fox ended up being the only one to make out. He also likely earned himself another contract for a few million dollars next year.
