Sox at Angels 8:38 CDT 8/1

Yep, Getz should jump on any 24/25 year old formerly hyped OF or 1B that somehow makes it to waivers. Based on the news that the Cubs were almost close to trading for Houser, I wouldn’t be surprised if Getz was trying to get their 1B prospect Jonathon Long that was discussed a few times here. -

Hopefully he finds his way to another team’s AAA roster next year. -

He ended last season with a .652 OPS against lefties. He got worse with more playing time. He’ll also be 30 before next season starts. I think his time has passed and I’d rather see the playing time go to a younger outfielder. -

Annoying. I wish they would just play him, but I assume Venable didn’t want such a lefty heavy assortment of outfielders? No idea, but Rojas needs to be DFA’ed yesterday. -
I also hope he continues acquiring younger position players around 24 like Mead rather than 27/28 year olds. Teams aren’t giving up guys in their early 20’s but 24/25 seems to be the age teams are finally willing to give up on their once hyped prospects. With the 27/28 year old guys, time flies too fast to get them MLB at bats and properly evaluate them — see Fletcher, DeLoach, and now probably Robertson.

I assume he was called up because they wanted a righty outfielder but can we just end the Julks experiment? -
Seems to me like Getz got more return for much less this trade deadline than last year. I realize the 4 players he acquired could end up being nothing but he really didn’t trade much of value — a righty platoon OF and a mediocre starter he picked up off the street for $1.35 million on May 20th that pitched out of his mind for 11 starts. Perhaps he learned from his dealings last year and improved.

I would assume since the conversation was around Robert, it’s that Getz was asking other GMs for a ridiculous return for Robert, which matches another report before the deadline that he was asking for one major leaguer and two highly rated prospects. GMs are probably frustrated with Getz because he wasn’t willing to come down on his ask and be a bit more realistic considering Robert has been mediocre to bad for 1.5 seasons and has missed a lot of time in his career due to injury. Getz was trying to sell high on a player that didn’t deserve that type of hype and return. If he was hitting like Eugenio Suárez that would be one thing, but he’s not even hitting as well as Benintendi on the season.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.

Jerry apparently picking up Robert’s option is a close second. 🤣 -
I just remember watching it live and laughing my ass off. Hawk always blowing up and yelling over his partner. Hawk basically saying Wegner should be fired or at the very least suspended and sent back to umpire school. 🤣

Don't break it ALL down. Go for 63!!!!!

It was fun when they were telling us exactly what Sox players should be worth prospect-wise as if they were the experts. Then they would re-post conversations from here over at Orioles Hangout to get an even more biased reaction. -
Shane Smith, and eventually maybe Martin Perez will be back. Maybe they will finally banish Clevinger forever. Also, perhaps Thor gets some run to bring da ladies to The Rate.
-
He may be the only one left after Harold left the building?
-
I do get a stiffy at the thought of all of these young guys including Mead panning out. Just not realistic unfortunately. Just keep acquiring position player castoffs in their early 20’s and maybe a couple will pan out.

Adrian Houser traded to TB for former top prospect Curtis Mead
WhiteSox2023 replied to Bob Sacamano's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agreed, but we are still like two veterans too many aren’t we? Benintendi would have to sit more to see all the young guys. Also, we would have to bench Tauchman more to get Danger Will in the lineup. Can’t really platoon them both in RF since they are both lefties. Damn Benintendi contract. Like @Chicago White Sox has said, this is probably the next obstacle that needs to be tackled. When will Jerry eat his contract? He is blocking younger players that we would rather play. 1B Mead 2B Meidroth 3B Vargas SS Montgomery LF Benintendi / Sosa CF Robert RF Tauchman / Danger Will C Teel DH Quero -

It’s also exciting just to see another player that could possibly have a future at only 24/25 years of age. Rojas did not make himself flippable due to injury and poor performance. He does nothing for this team now. He’s a sunk cost. Just release him and let’s see what Mead can do for the rest of the season. -

Yeah, was about to say… not fast food, lol. -
Google it if you are confused. If you are referring to the “terms” of the agreement for Jerry to eventually sell the team to Ishbia, they were in the press release at a high level at least.
-
Jerry has a CPA and was an IRS/tax lawyer/attorney in his younger years. He definitely formulated the ultimate leech deal with Ishbia until his untimely demise.
-
They are literally on pace for 103 losses so you were very close with 105, and Houser being gone could easily account for those extra 2 losses if not more.

He must think the Rockies are eligible for the #1 pick lottery next year. They aren’t. -
Why are you just assuming Jerry will match this year’s payroll? He has been cutting it intentionally over the years with this second rebuild and he is also looking to sell the team by 2029. One vague comment by Getz doesn’t make me think they will truly spend in free agency.
