  1. And then Getz gets to play the game of the risky diminishing value asset for yet another season. I doubt it ends well.
  2. I have to think @Y2Jimmy0 is right. The only way it would make sense to buy him out would’ve been a career-threatening injury, not a typical hammy strain. I agree that the decision on the option has already been made.
  3. I won’t speak for others but I said that while it is important, it isn’t the most important thing, especially for a team that is expected to be bad anyways. Afterall, what would a team without any veteran leadership do — set a record in losses and then follow that season up with another season on pace for 100+ losses? Oh dear, that would be tragic. 🤣
  4. Betting on the Sox to make a decision when it comes to adding $20 million in payroll would definitely be a Greg house type gamble. But unless Getz is a complete and utter imbecile, I don’t understand why else he would be making these comments about Robert. He said it right after the deadline, and he is now saying it again after Robert’s latest injury. Getz must know that Jerry already gave the okay to pick up his option.
  5. Yep. He’s a nice platoon/part-time guy on a good team. A rebuilding team like the Sox should be giving those at bats to a young OF. Problem is, Getz hasn’t acquired any outfielders worth giving those at bats to yet, outside of a not ready yet Montgomery.
  6. I don’t think so. Over $6 million for sure, but he was so damn awful with the Sox that his insane hot streak with the Brewers hasn’t even brought his overall numbers back up to his career norms yet. And now his bat is cold.
  7. Unfortunately, Tauchman misses too many games due to injury to be there everyday to fulfill that role.
  8. I don’t understand why he said this then, right after the injury announcement — “We’re committed to Luis.” How do you say that after this latest injury if you aren’t planning to bring him back via his option? If there was any doubt about it, a GM would just not say that last sentence. Unless said GM is a moron…
  9. What a boner. He’s like two to three years too early on this new kick of his. Just like trading for veteran relievers that ended up sucking balls. Remember Getz’s first offseason priority of defense and leadership? Yeah, that worked wonders…
  10. Veteran leadership isn’t meaningless, but it’s definitely less important for a bad team that is going to lose 100+ games. Where are Fletcher and DeLoach right now? Haven’t the comments about those two acquisitions been proven true by now? The only future they appear to have is with Charlotte or some other team’s minor league system. I wouldn’t be surprised that outside of Tauchman’s daughter situation, Getz realized he could fill RF very cheaply in 2026 with the extra year of control. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sox had kept Tauchman, even without the daughter situation. Jerry likes cheap players.
  11. Yep. A rebuilding team should not be in the business of trading prospects for two mediocre 31 and 33 year old relievers.
  12. Booser and Gilbert — epic fail bullpen acquisitions by Getz.
  13. Madrigal became a pretty good backup infielder, minus his injury woes. It’s isn’t the worst role in the world. Meidroth just doesn’t have enough power to be a threat.
  14. Anyone see Schwarber’s 4 HR game? Amazing to remember that the Cubs non-tendered him.
  15. The minute the Sox didn’t trade him, he already did. He has one more year of arbitration. A cheap starting RF? Jerry and Getz are in love.
  16. Looks like you were right unfortunately. Like I said, I doubt Getz hoodwinked the Rays of all front offices.
  17. Nah, it’s just bad unfortunately. At least his bat has improved.
  18. Yep, it sucks. I was hoping for a steal 1B. But I sincerely doubt Getz out-scouted the Rays on him.
  19. This is as bad of an idea as playing him in the outfield. 🤣
  20. “Nah @nrockway ain't taking that from Schriffen!!!”
  21. Good luck, Bears… ”Packers acquired Micah Parsons from the Cowboys and signed him to a four-year, $188 million extension.”
  22. Yep. Basically, Getz wasted a good acquisition in Tauchman by not flipping him. Sorry, but I’d take a prospect over an oft-injured 35-year old 2 bWAR right fielder with good leadership in what will likely be another losing season. And who is to say Tauchman will have another good season in 2026 in which he will have more value than he already did? Isn’t this what rebuilding teams are supposed to do? Sign guys to one year contracts, hope they perform, and flip them?
  23. He’s waiting for that Ishbia pity money. 🤣
  24. Great point. I believe I do remember WE saying that about other Chicago sports teams. But I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt — perhaps he just likes baseball more than other sports so he is more invested in the Sox.
