  1. Obviously this had to happen, but yuck…
  2. What’s with the Washington hate? 🤣 They are exactly what the Bears were supposed to be this year with their rookie QB. I’m jealous of their team moreso than hating on them.
  3. The only true flip candidate I see in that list is Austin Hays. All those other guys will get paid decently enough by some team. Verdugo will likely get a multi-year deal at age 28.
  4. We really need a SS and CF to “complete” (probably still a pipe dream) this prospect rebuild. Hopefully they can get these two position players in the next draft and with a trade of hopeful comeback player of the year winner Luis Robert. And no more Jacob Gonzalez picks at SS.
  5. Agreed with everything here. I wouldn’t be surprised if Getz looked to trade him at the deadline last year but no teams were interested in giving up anything worthwhile. So Getz decided to keep him around for another year at $6 million this season to see if he breaks out, unlikely as that is to happen.
  6. Exactly. They have no idea what they are doing, as usual. They are going to waste time interviewing Marcus Freeman? The dude is making $9 million next year and is under contract until 2030. He is the toast of town. Do the Bears actually think their coaching spot is better than Notre Dame’s right now? Rude awakening — it isn’t.
  7. I believe it is because Kenny had a good working relationship with both Cashman and Ng. He worked with Cashman on many previous trades and had a personal friendship with Ng. And Jerry was such a clown that he allowed this power struggle to occur between Kenny and Hahn. Ng was quoted after the Burger trade as saying, “I called up my man Kenny Williams and got it done.” See article linked below for more on Kenny’s friendship with Ng. Hahn supposedly had nothing to do with the trade and didn’t even want to trade Burger at all. Hahn’s trade of Anderson was cancelled by Kenny because he absolutely loved Anderson and saw him as the face of the franchise, from what I remember reading/hearing. In hindsight, it sure looks like Hahn was correct on both moves — trading Anderson and keeping Burger. But once again, like @Balta1701 said, Getz likely didn’t have anything to do with these moves. If there was a power struggle between Kenny and Hahn as the EVP and GM respectively, you know that Getz had almost zero power in decision making at that point in time. https://www.soxon35th.com/marlins-gm-kim-ng-shares-details-on-jake-burger-trade-with-white-sox/
  8. McGuffey answered this as well… Kenny wanted to trade Burger to the Marlins so he did. Hahn wanted to trade Anderson to the Marlins but Kenny vetoed it. Kenny loved Anderson. Like I said, Kenny had the sole decision making on trades with the Marlins and Yankees. He was the final say on trades with those two teams.
  9. You already know the answer to this — because Jerry runs his organization like a goofball and the Sox front office was a clown show. All I know is, if Hahn and Kenny couldn’t even align on trades, I seriously doubt Getz had any sort of opinion or power in the decision making.
  10. Ryan McGuffey already stated in his podcast that Kenny Williams alone traded Burger to the Marlins. As ludicrous as this is, Kenny had the sole power and decision making to execute trades with two teams over Rick Hahn — the Yankees and Marlins. The trade had nothing to do with even Hahn, much less Chris Getz.
  11. Awesome, haha. Jerry hand-picked one guy. No one else had a shot. Resumes were not necessary or reviewed.
  12. You beat me to it but this is what I was going to say. I doubt you can find everything in a physical but the glaring things should show up. The Orioles just pulled back a contract to Jeff Hoffman for 3-years, $40 million because of something that showed up in his physical regarding his right shoulder.
  13. Thanks, haha. I just assumed by reading the release that everyone listed would be attending both days of SoxFest, considering there is a footnote that says only Buehrle will be attending the first day and not Saturday.
  14. Not at all. I hope Vargas becomes a star, cuz god knows Jerry won’t allow Getz to sign one in free agency. And whether you pull for Vargas or people think he sucks, none of it matters. Only Vargas can prove his own worth. So far in his career, he has failed to do so, and that isn’t a result of fans on a message board saying that he sucks.
  15. Oh, I see. I assumed he would be there every day considering the footnote that Buehrle will only be there one day.
  16. I’d rather not live my life by what Hillary Duff and Wanda Sykes think, but you go ahead.
  17. Like I said, the White Sox are the trading post/whore house for the Red Sox.
  18. Most players that are forced to sign with the lowly White Sox are probably crying on the inside at the very least.
  19. You already know how cheap Jerry is. We had both Cease and Crochet at the same time, yet the team still wasn’t good enough to win anything. Perhaps the Sox will be good once their young players develop, but by then do you think Jerry would have paid both Cease and Crochet their going rate in free agency? As much as I am not a fan of Getz, trading Cease and Crochet was all on Jerry, not Getz.
  20. It’s a shame Getz didn’t just trade Kopech for Albertus and Perez and dealt Fedde in a separate deal.
  21. No on Wilson. He has at least shown some history of success. Yes on Leasure. But neither one throws enough strikes. They both walk the world.
  22. His 2021 and 2022 seasons say that you are full of s%*#. The Dodgers thought he was a commodity.
  23. Sorry, I had Getz’s previous job title wrong. He was the director of player development.
  24. Leone didn’t exactly having recent signs of much success in his prior two seasons.
