  1. Mad that the trade wasn’t made, and not even accepting a light offer. Houser and Civale do nothing important for this team the rest of the way. The Sox already have bums that can eat their innings. Why is this so difficult to understand?
  2. No, not with the money remaining on his contract. I assume most people are just assuming the Sox would pick some/most of it up since they will be paying it anyways if he stays here.
  3. You sell them for the best offer regardless. Something is better than nothing and the Sox already have guys that can eat innings. They will both be free agents after this season. If Getz wants either guy back, he can offer them a contract in the offseason.
  4. If the Sox give Robert his buyout after this season, that is when we will know Getz made a mistake. Anything is better than nothing at all.
  5. Houser himself is a freaking retread pitcher on a hot streak. That’s why you sell him high! It was the exact reason they signed him and acquired Civale for Vaughn. To trade them if they upped their value, which they both did. Houser moreso than Civale. Getz’s purpose is to improve the team in the long run, not keep impending free agents with value around to eat innings and provide you with a nicer game viewing experience.
  6. So Getz should keep Houser to both eat innings for the younger pitchers and provide more quality starts in another losing season, if he doesn’t get offered what he wants for Houser? Okay…
  7. That’s great. You said the goal was to eat innings. It’s not about who YOU want to see. It will be another losing season regardless.
  8. Nonsense. They have guys they already paid for that will be ready to perform your task. This is just five off the top of my head. Not trading Houser would be moronic. Bryse Wilson Mike Clevinger Owen White Noah Syndergaard Martin Perez
  9. Of course it doesn’t. But to Jerry, it’s a lot of money. The Sox largest contract ever (Benintendi’s) includes no annual salaries of $20 million. Robert will cost $22 million to bring back for next season — $20 million salary and a $2 million buyout for 2027.
  10. #1 doesn’t make sense because Houser is a free agent after this season. You either take the best offer and move on, or you get nothing for him. If you want Houser back, you offer him a contract in the offseason. #2 is just pure speculation and not worth mentioning.
  11. Well, you would be wrong then. Wheeler has been to a WS, an NLCS, and an NLDS the past three seasons, and he has a shot at the postseason for the fourth straight year. That’s actually history… facts. It happened. Meanwhile, you are just speculating at what could have happened.
  12. I can’t hate on Wheeler. Dude made the best decision ever listening to his wife.
  13. You are just making him last longer. He feeds on our pain and anger. 🤣
  14. $22 million at a minimum. He has another $20 million option and $2 million buyout for the 2027 season. While I am dubious as well, I assume if he isn’t traded they will pick up his option. Why wouldn’t you accept a mediocre offer for him if you are just going to buy him out after this season? Anything is better than nothing.
  15. Was the word that Getz was asking for 1 major leaguer along with 2 good prospects? 🤣
  16. At a minimum, Robert will cost the rest of his $15 million salary for this year along with a $2 million to get rid of via his 2026 buyout after this season. Or, you have to guarantee Robert $22 million ($20 million option + $2 million buyout for 2027) to bring him back for next season.
  17. More like the bad for two straight seasons Luis Robert Jr. Ever heard of recency bias? It’s definitely a thing in baseball.
  18. Because the longer you hold out trying to get your unrealistic demands accepted, teams move on to other players that other GM’s are actually willing to part with for something realistic. Then you wind up with your hand holding your schvonce.
