  1. That’s probably because media itself is at an all time low in this country.
  2. Actually, I heard JR just issued some slightly used TI-83 calculators to the Sox data analytics team. A school near GRate recently upgraded to TI-84 calculators so Jerry got a great deal on their old TI-83’s.
  3. I think this is a joke. It has to be.
  4. Interesting. I just saw this BRUUUCCCEEE bomb, but he’s usually late to the party. It would be hilarious if @Kyyle23’s post above comes true and the Yankees gank Tucker right from under the Cubs nose. You would be able to taste Cubs fans tears on WSCR 670 The Snore.
  5. The weakness in your logic, or what I assume you are inferring, is that the Sox aren’t likely to be a truly competitive team in the next three years that Robert is under contract. If the Sox retain Robert and he plays more like he did in 2023 and Jerry is still around, is he going to let Getz give Robert a massive extension? The other side of the coin is the risk that Robert continues to get injured and underperform like he did last year and the Sox get nothing for him.
  6. Ah okay, I didn’t even think about a closer for this year. Bad teams don’t need to worry too much about closers. I guess Kopech was our closer last year? He led the team with 9 saves.
  7. I think the top 20 looks good. The backend 20 to 30 is where it drops off.
  8. Better happen soon. Dude ain’t getting any younger.
  9. Right now, it’s both and both Hahn and Getz are responsible for better or for worse.
  10. I doubt anyone is banking on Sosa’s one hot month being the player he actually is. Meidroth has way better makeup than Sosa ever did. Ultra patient contact hitter that walks versus a swing at everything guy who thinks he’s a top HR hitter. Even during Sosa’s hot September, he struck out 18 times and only walked 3 times in 23 games. It would not be a surprise to see Sosa go back to his old ways. It’s too bad that he doesn’t play good defense, especially at SS. That might leave him an opening for a spot with Colson moving to 3B, but then you also have Ramos and Vargas. In any case, I don’t see Meidroth not overtaking Sosa at 2B long-term.
  11. Either way, they kind of get screwed. They have to trade a haul for him, have him for only one year until free agency, and then hope they can sign him to a massive contract. I’d rather just try to sign him in a year if I was a Cubs fan.
  12. That will sort itself out. Likely some of the starting pitching prospects that fail as starters.
  13. Yep, and your last line shows exactly what Getz should be targeting with a Robert trade.
  14. Yeah, thanks for beating me to it. Nice to be enthusiastic but I think people need to realize that Bryant should have been drafted 1-1 and was on a HoF track. He declined pretty severely after his first season with the Rockies. Chronic back issues have fucked over his career just like Joe Crede.
  15. Thanks for sharing. He’s a man now but he barely looks older than my 16 year old son. 🤣 Dude needs to lift a bit. Build up those biceps. 💪
  16. It could very well happen due to his constant injury issues. And his performance last year didn’t prove that he always performs if he’s healthy either. Robert’s performance over the next 3 years quite literally could be anywhere between 2 and 11 WAR. I know that’s one bet I wouldn’t be making — predicting his total WAR over those 3 years.
  17. No you won’t. Don’t be writing checks that your ass can’t cover. Your post is a pile of insincere 💩.
  18. I think 11 is too high but 2 is too low. I’ll go 5 to 6.
  19. I doubt it happens. If the Sox sign Quintana to his projected contract before the Orioles do, we are in the Stranger Things upside down world.
  20. Nice waiver claim reliever option for Getz. Only 25 years old. Dump Julks/Shewmake for him… “Rangers designated RHP Roansy Contreras for assignment. The Rangers needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the return of Nathan Eovaldi on Thursday and unfortunately, Contreras was the odd-man out this time around. He pitched pretty well in a bullpen role during the 2024 season — registering a 3.86 ERA and 52/25 K/BB ratio across 60 2/3 innings of work, so once again it wouldn’t be surprising to see another team take a shot at him on waivers.”
  21. Dude was 37 when they signed him. Guys can fall off a cliff at that late age. Jose Abreu did the same moving from the Sox to the Astros. This is why guys that age usually only get 1-year contracts for a high dollar amount if they produced the season before.
  22. But in that case, you trade the oldest guy in Martin. Keep the young guys. Ideally, the entire future group become studs but inevitably some will get injured or struggle and be moved to the bullpen. Nothing wrong with a glut of pitching. They should keep drafting it, but in later rounds. This will allow them to use their higher picks on their true problem area over the years — position players. Schultz Smith Thorpe Taylor Cannon Burke Iriarte (too early to say but perhaps bullpen due to control?) Gonzalez (too early to say but perhaps bullpen due to control?)
  23. Either the Reds or the Phillies, and probably in that order. I wouldn’t be surprised if the two Yankees position prospects are busts.
  24. “Is very bad to steal Jobu’s rum… is very bad.”
