  1. 27 years old with a decent amount of MLB experience is probably about as young as you are going to be able to grab a player who was either a high draft pick or had a good season in the past. Amaya is turning 26 in a week and has 10 career plate appearances in the majors. At least Getz acquired a somewhat youngish player, even though he can’t hit at all. Perhaps Getz is slowly learning?
  2. Were the four wins relatively close together? That may be why it seems like that.
  3. When I saw that he was DFA’ed last week and he was an infielder, I had a feeling Getz would claim him. He hits about as well as Little Nicky in the minors. I guess he’s still young?
  4. Sorry, didn’t see you post this. But yeah, why did Getz acquire these older proven terrible players rather than the younger guys like Bart and Robles that still may have some juice left in their tank?
  5. For this team, a 29 year old with a .662 OPS in 1,633 plate appearances in the majors was not worth acquiring. He is what he is. Besides, he only had 32 plate appearances with the Sox so they weren’t really trying to fix anything.
  6. For this decision, Getz likely listened to Mike Tosar, the former Dodgers scout that initially signed Vargas. Mike Tosar, also the same Sox assistant hitting coach that was fired a week after Vargas was acquired.
  7. Gotta love that they are paying a few of the already small number of scouts that they have to sit at home with pay for three months.
  8. The Sox are going to have to trade Crochet for sure this offseason. It’s pretty obvious he doesn’t want to be here.
  9. “More HISTORYYY!!!” On pace for a 38-124 record. Amazing.
  10. Yes, I remember small sample sizes. I remember earlier in the season when you tried to use a small sample size of the Sox record over 25 or so games when they went on a short hot streak to say that the team wasn’t historically bad and was better than it appeared to be. By the way, here is Vargas’s career line in 506 plate appearances: .186 AVG / .282 OBP / .335 SLG / .617 OPS As far as Flexen and Sheets go, Flexen has a 5.34 ERA and Sheets has a .686 OPS. They are both bad players like I stated. However, we wouldn’t have to see them playing for the Sox if they were both traded at the deadline as you anticipated, since they both had “value.”
  11. Yes, Getz said that on November 7th, 2023, prior to his mostly awful offseason acquisitions… https://www.audacy.com/670thescore/sports/chicago-white-sox/chris-getz-on-his-white-sox-i-dont-like-our-team So he didn’t like the team and succeeded in making it even worse right after he made this statement. 🤣
  12. Your “agenda” talk is a sham. The proof is in the pudding. Getz’s two trades for guys he thought would be fixtures in the lineup in Fletcher and Vargas have been atrocious. This isn’t some sort of conspiracy to make Getz look bad. Getz has made himself look like a bad GM under his own accord with those two trades. He doesn’t need help from any posters here.
  13. What an amazing assessor of talent that our GM is! Vargas is the bust of all busts.
  14. I’m actually rooting for Jerry and Getz to own the record. It couldn’t happen to a worse owner and a more unqualified GM. It would be very fitting for them both to own it.
  15. Something that happened 62 years ago in 1962 is not a recent feeling like 2024 would be.
  16. What about if they attain the prestigious accomplishment of the worst record in MLB history?
  17. Are you surprise? I am not surprise. Vargas is dreadful to watch.
  18. This was just one single Google search. I’m sure I can find even more… https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2024-mlb-trade-deadline-winners-and-losers/ https://amp.foxsports.com/stories/mlb/mlbs-biggest-winners-losers-from-trade-deadline https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2024/07/30/mlb-trade-deadline-2024-winners-losers/74610915007/ https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/2024-mlb-trade-deadline-winners-and-losers-dodgers-make-key-moves-but-baseball-blockbuster-never-develops/live/amp/
  19. Seems pretty obvious that Getz took back exactly whom the Dodgers were looking to dump — a former top prospect whose initial shine had turned to tarnish after almost a full season of awful at bats in the majors.
  20. I am still waiting for Getz to trade his other valuable flip candidates including Brebbia, Flexen, and Lopez, along with Sheets… 🤣
