  1. Check the number of scrubs the Sox have rostered in the Getz era versus these other teams you mention. It isn’t even close. You are making false comparisons.
  2. C’mon West Eddy, that wasn’t the point that people were trying to make. At least I know I wasn’t. It was awesome that Getz and crew were able to scout out Smith and he turned into an All-Star starting pitcher. The question I asked is how in the heck could the team not already have a single starting pitching talent that performed as well or better than a Rule 5 draft pick in 2025? That is the messed up part. Once again, how could Getz and crew not already have a starter on the roster that could put up a 2.3 bWAR? And don’t say Crochet, because we already knew he was going to be traded in the offseason. Also, Hahn drafted Crochet, not Getz.
  3. Yes, it’s a good show. Close enough ties to the video game to be cool and anything with Walton Goggins in it is a must watch. The second season is dropping in a week. With the new Spartacus: House of Ashur show that was release, I realized that I never watched the first three seasons that ran from 2010 to 2013. I’m just about to finish the first three seasons and it’s pretty awesome. Tons of gore, hilarious dialog, and sex of all kinds.
  4. Yes, if Bleday performed well more recently rather than having only one good season in 2024, I think he would be priced out of the Sox range. Lane Thomas just got $5.25 million guaranteed plus $1 million in incentives and he has been awful the past two seasons. I think anyone clamoring for Bleday probably realizes this, but they figure he could be signed cheaply due to his poor 2025. But if he performs like he did in 2024, he could be a steal. He would also be arbitration eligible in 2027 and 2028 and wouldn’t be a free agent until 2029.
  5. I said this in the other thread, but would you rather see Getz trade another good pitching prospect to Boston for an equally bad lefty reliever? 😢
  6. Better than trading another good pitching prospect to the Red Sox for a bum lefty.
  7. Jerry is even cheaper than I thought. I thought for sure they would just bring Tauchman back via his expected low salary arb number. Maybe they are shopping for a better option, but I tend to agree with you that he is the fallback plan.
  8. And Tauchman can’t stay healthy either as a full-time player
  9. The author is Jon Heyman so it’s basically the same stuff he would tweet out. I don’t think there is any question that the Sox could get better prospect(s) if they pay some of Robert’s contract. Robert looks pretty good at $10 million. Not so much at $20. I guess we will find out eventually when he is traded if Jerry is willing to include money for a better return.
  10. Watch him lead the team to a .500 record at best and leave via his buyout? What is the point in that? May as well get something for him for the future and before he inevitably gets injured again, even if it is a lesser return.
  11. If he had his 2024 production in 2025, the Sox wouldn’t have a prayer of signing him.
  12. NBC Sports knows what’s up… ”Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Mets have “checked in” on a potential trade for Luis Robert Jr. Robert has been the subject of trade speculation over the last few years, but it appears this winter we might see the White Sox actually pull the trigger. The Mets would make sense, but Heyman notes that in order for New York to give up their top prospects, the White Sox would need to send some cash back. That’s not a very Jerry Reinsdorf thing to do. The Padres have also been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Robert, among others.“
  13. Yeah, I noted that signing in the Winter Meetings thread. $5.25 million including up to $1 million in performance-based incentives. Crazy. The guy has done jack the last two seasons. His agent did some great work with that deal.
  14. Yep, chances are if you are athletic enough to play SS, you could transition to another position with less difficulty. Which is why drafting the SS position repeatedly is not a bad idea.
  15. That’s why it was interesting to read that Paez sits at 91/92 normally but has gotten it up to 94. Maybe the Sox think there’s a little more juice to squeeze?
  16. Yes, he has a good chance of sticking based on his control/command alone and if he continues his minor league history of walking very few. Hopefully he mixes up his repertoire enough that his low velocity fastball doesn’t get hammered like the little we saw from Thorpe. Gotta keep that thing away from being a mistake pitch right down the cock of the plate. I sure wish Getz and team could scout and choose hitters as well as they seem to recently with pitchers.
  17. I never once said this. Obviously that isn’t true since Smith was the Sox best starter. Read my post again and try to answer the question I posed.
  18. You don’t trust the source? I’ve heard that Noah Phallus is second only to Ken Rosenthal in reliability and stature.
  19. This kind of money for Lane Thomas doesn’t bode well for anyone thinking Getz is going to sign another outfielder…
  20. I had a glimmer of hope that once Getz convinced Jerry to approve picking up Robert’s option at the trade deadline, that JR may also be willing to eat some of the salary since Robert is one of their last remaining trade chips. It looks like I gave Jerry too much credit.
