At this point, it doesn’t matter. Getz gave up a good prospect for Fletcher so he needs to see what he has in him. He is turning 27 in three weeks so he has to pan out sooner rather than later if he’s going to at all. It does suck that a guy of his size and stature can’t really play CF well since you want power bats in the corners, but oh well.
-
Yep, Getz traded a good prospect for Fletcher. Fletcher started out terribly and Getz gave up on him immediately in an already lost season. Vilehoopster should be questioning Getz for not having any faith in Fletcher moreso than Sox fans.
-
He’s still hitting .213 with a .548 OPS overall. Talk about declaring early victory.
-
13 baserunners in 4.2 innings, with only 2 strikeouts and 2 earned runs… That’s a 2.31 WHIP. Luck.
-
Horseshoe up his ass like Harold said.
-
It’s called luck. 7 walks.
-
Like, all of them. It’s really sad.
-
Maybe he would if it forced Jerry to give him an interview for GM?

Well, the rumor I remember was that the Sox asked the Cardinals for Walker in return for Fedde in a two team trade but the Cardinals said no, so the Sox traded Fedde for Edman, whom the Dodgers wanted, to flip for Vargas, their next choice for a young player after the Cardinals refused to give up Walker.
-
The Cardinals were too smart to trade us Walker… “Cardinals recalled OF Jordan Walker from Triple-A Memphis There it is. The highly talented 22-year-old outfielder is back in the big leagues after hitting .338 with a 1.090 OPS over his last 65 at-bats. This recent hot stretch has coincided with a new stance where Walker is more open with his front foot, which allows him to clear his hips earlier and turn on the ball. That has led to a 92.1 average exit velocity and a 50 percent hard-hit rate. However, there is some question regarding how much Walker plays immediately upon arrival. Alec Burleson and Lars Nootbaar seem locked into starting roles, and Victor Scott II is a true defensive center fielder, so Walker would need to push Brendan Donovan to the bench or start only against left-handed pitchers.”

The big cover-up involving the police, the mayor, and the mayor’s teacher friend. All Jerry had to do was play stupid.
-
Jerry obviously has an All-Star organization from top to bottom. Just don’t bring a sign in he doesn’t like.

Baez has been even worse than Benintendi and looks to be declining in each of the past three seasons. He’s also turning 32 this winter. He’s only going to get worse. 2022: .671 OPS 2023: .592 OPS 2024: .497 OPS I don’t think there’s a team in baseball that would trade for Baez, unless Detroit included one of their top prospects in the deal.
-
No, and here’s why… Benintendi: 25:$16.5M, 26:$16.5M, 27:$14.5M Baez: 25:$25M, 26:$24M, 27:$24M

The Sox apparently helped to improve the Royals front office by stealing away all of their losers.
-
Very nice. But am I crazy to be surprised that no one has done this since 1901? Seems like it would have happened more than once in that amount of time.
-
Agreed. Benintendi at 13 homers right now is amazing after how he started the season. If he can get up to a .270 AVG and .750 OPS, he will at least be playable and perhaps even tradable. If the Sox ever acquire a better defensive LF, they can move Benintendi to DH.

Haha, read the comments. The sign guy says he was polite and the security guard still called him a jagoff.
-
Great observation by some posters in the game thread, and Stone went so far as to address it. LOL…
-
I know it wasn’t during a broadcast, but Stone basically said the team sucked in his tweet albeit in the nicest way possible.
-
It will be more of the same. Getz will be dumpster diving again, and likely failing at it just like last offseason.
-
Yes. Kopech had 5.2 scoreless innings pitched with 8 strikeouts and only 1 hit and 1 BB allowed before he was traded to the Dodgers.
-
“Jake Burger went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored in a win over the Padres on Sunday. Burger now has 22 home runs and 53 RBI on the season and has been on a tear since July 1st, clubbing 14 home runs and driving in 24 runs in 33 games. He’s also 16-for-44 (.363) with seven home runs in just 11 games in August. He needs to be rostered in all leagues while his bat is this hot.” He has completely improved his season numbers after slumping hard to start the season. .251 AVG .768 OPS 22 HR 53 RBI
-
It also didn’t stop Stone and Schriffen from talking up these bums all season. But now there’s hope because they will be gone?

“Michael Kopech fired 1 1/3 scoreless innings on Saturday against the Pirates. Kopech has looked re-energized since arriving in Los Angeles at last month’s trade deadline, reeling off five consecutive scoreless appearances in his Dodgers debut. He’s struck out eight batters and allowed just one baserunner over 5 1/3 nearly-flawless frames so far. The 28-year-old righty is probably in the mix for high-leverage opportunities with the Dodgers until further notice.”
