Question is, if the Sox ever get another player as good as Tatis Jr., and I don’t think Robert is even that guy, what should the Sox do then? Sign him to a huge deal or trade him? You can’t have it both ways.

I have browsed this site for awhile. Saddest of all is that anyone would make such an embarrassing water carrying post for the Sox front office, as if they have ever been a group that you give the benefit of the doubt to. You also ignored the fact that had the Sox kept Tatis Jr., they didn’t have to offer him the very same contract that the Padres did. They could have gone year to year with him via salary arbitration for six years. Yep, Tatis Jr. and Erik Johnson for Shields. Sure wouldn’t want Tatis Jr. right now… Stellar trade by the Sox.

Aren’t you the same poster who said in the past that the James Shields trade wasn’t that bad because the Padres signed Tatis Jr. to a big extension and then he got injured and the Sox wouldn’t have been able to afford him anyways? Agreed that all Sox articles have to have some level of snark. The funny thing is that it’s pretty much jumped the shark these days since it’s now universally known what a terrible owner Reinsdorf is.

May be a little too late and close to the deadline to sign him and hope he pitches well enough to build up his value. Plus, this should be the time to give more innings to the Sox own pitching prospects.

Maybe if he wants to lose his MLB earnings to multiple baby mommas for the next 18 years per kid. Not a wise strategy. And if his actual wife decides to divorce him cuz he keeps cheating, that could be up to 50% of his earnings, unless they have some sort of open marriage.
