Anyone else having déjà vu? 😶
-
He’s shown at least 10 homer power a season in the minors that last two years. I’m not convinced he’s Madrigal yet. Hopefully he keeps taking his vitamins and protein powder and ends up more like Pedroia.
-
Maybe the pressure is finally on Hoyer, but the guy has been Elias-like reluctant to trade away his top prospects.
-
As long as everyone knows it doesn’t mean Bowel Movement.

Jerry is going to give Jose Abreu a lifetime contract as player and then hitting coach once he retires. Jose will work with all the position players.

White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
WhiteSox2023 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Any one of their #3 through #5 would be fine. F*** it. Nut up, Jerry, and send some money with Robert to get the best return. It’s not like the Sox are going to spend anything of consequence this offseason. -
I’m not buying it yet. They will get a starter. Will it be enough? Maybe not. But they didn’t just sign Tyler O’Neill for $49.5 million and Gary Sanchez for $8.5 million to come up short on their primary need.
-
Unless they were getting Anthony, I think 2 through 5 is a crapshoot, and they got 2 of those guys.
-
Very happy Getz didn’t accept some combination of Abreu/Casas/Wong.
-
Unless Houston’s demands don’t come down, I don’t think @fathom has to sweat Kyle Tucker being a Cub…
-
The only mega prospect the Red Sox have (Anthony), they weren’t trading.

Boston will pay up and all will be well.

Is there ever any nagging anything from a healed ankle fracture?

Upcoming free agency $$$ that Jerry doesn’t want to pay for.

Roki Sasaki Free Agency - White Sox have a presentation
WhiteSox2023 replied to Timmy U's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Will Benny the Bull greet Sasaki at O’Hare Airport? Will the Sox have Sasaki’s name and jersey number displayed on all the video boards at GRate? Gotta break out all the stops… -
What a shame. I wonder when it happened. I remember when he called into the Sox post-game last season and talked to Garfien, Ozzie, Frank, etc. and he seemed really out of it and not his usual quick, witty self. He sounded tired and out of it.

Recency bias? 5 bad postseason innings doesn’t take away from Cease being an ace during the 2024 regular season in 190 innings.
-
I would guess Lee sticks around as a catcher on the roster until he is replaced by Teel / Quero. I don’t understand moving him from catcher. If his bat is a concern, where else would you want him to play? 1B/DH? That wouldn’t make sense. His one good attribute is his throwing arm. He has some pop but he doesn’t make enough contact. He’s a backup catcher without much value that we are probably spending too much time talking about.
-
Yep. I also wouldn’t be surprised if another team decides to put a cheap unknown starter on the trade block after seeing the White Sox return for Crochet. However, I doubt the Orioles will ante up like the Red Sox did.
-
5+ years ago maybe. Teams aren’t trading their top guys these days. So I would say no to your question. The Red Sox would rather have Anthony than Teel and Montgomery. Maybe that changes in a year or two once Montgomery puts up some at bats and Teel is a productive offensive and defensive catcher in the big leagues.

Thorpe’s fastball was worse than expected and extremely hittable. Scary low strikeout rate. And then injury, which is the least of the concerns. Samuel Zavala hit like Seby in High-A. Iriarte had a good season in AA but his walks are a red flag and he carried them into the majors in his brief time there.
-
The moment you realized he wasn’t going to hit .330 with all his slappy contact because he has two foot paces. 🤣
-
Almost everything went to crap with the return in that deal. Not sure how that can be denied. Sure, there’s still time for them to improve. However, Cease turned back into an ace with the Padres and I wouldn’t be surprised if they could get a better return for Cease right now than Getz did. The consensus seems to be that the return for this Crochet trade is positive. That was definitely not the consensus belief for the Cease trade. But if you want to go ahead and ignore all of this and stay in your happy place, be my guest.

More Bears dysfunction. It’s all over The Score as well…
