QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) The numbers say differently. The White Sox outdrew the Cubs twice during the 70's. Once during the southside hitmen, the other in 74. Between 1972 and 1984 the Sox outdrew the Cubs in total attendance.

I'm old enough to actually remember the 70s. It was not a Cubs town. It was evenly split then or close to it.

TV ratings for Cubs game 1 was same as 2005 game 1. I know TV ratings are down but still....

Remember When The Chicago White Sox Won The World Series?

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) That's the best part lol. As if to say "nobody ever acknowledged the White Sox after that, except the President of the United States, frequently, in public" Maybe he can lead a new ownership group? -
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) This is why there is a golden opportunity for the next owner of the Sox, whomever he or she turns out to be, to take the team and its beleaguered fan base to places its never been. That's exactly what I'm worried about!

A stadium in Hoffman Estates would be great for those legions of Sox fans in the NW suburbs. All 5000 of them.

The past 50 years of Sox history have been pretty bad, broadly speaking. There have been some extended stretches of extreme horribleness (a word?). Then the Sox got a new stadium and have a pretty nice team and then.....WHAM STRIKE/LOCKOUT followed by the infamous White Flag trade and back to mediocrity. The mother of all fluke seasons, 2005, put them back on the map, but that goodwill has been long squandered away by ineptitude and boring baseball. After all these decades, I'm not sure how many Sox fans are left. Why should there be?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) their fans just don't hold decades long grudges. Because they are simpletons.

the Sox have ruined themselves. Don't go blaming the Cubs.

QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 14, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) I would think that Renteria would have wanted to bring on his own staff... He doesn't have one single guy he'd like to hire?

The 90s and 00s Sox were basically the Braves of the same span
Hatchetman replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So over 13 years the Braves AVERAGED over 98 wins. The Sox won 98 games ONCE and averaged 85 wins. -
He's on his 6th manager as pitching coach if you include himself! What a crazy organization this is.

Vomit-inducing: LaRoches will throw out first pitch
Hatchetman replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Makes me chuckle, not vomit. -
Just doing the math, Eaton in Right and Fowler in CF would give you more WAR than Eaton in center and Reddick in RF. The defensive value of Eaton in RF vs. CF is huge.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) . And you can look back at my posts, I was constantly advocating for starting Saladino. Sure, I didn't think he'd be this good of a hitter, but for defensive purposes alone, it could have worked out. A lot of us were saying the same thing.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Goodbye Robin, thanks for being the irrational scapegoat that most of the posters here needed. We no longer have to pretend it's your fault that the team sucked. Hear hear!

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) McEwing (RV's buddy), Boston (KW's buddy) and Sparks (Steverson's buddy). Away from Salas, Thigpen and Cooper, that's the staff. Rick Hahn needs a buddy....maybe that's why he looks so sad all the time.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) I do think KW and JR should let RH generally manage if they make him the GM. If they don't, I don't understand the promotion. KW should make it clear that RH runs the show. If he can't do that, he should either let people know, or he should take a walk. That said, I don't buy Hahn is totally against the bad moves that are made. If he was and he spins for them, he is weak, and you wouldn't want that as a GM anyway. I agree with this.
