  1. I actually did the statistically analysis that showed winning and attendance were positively correlated. Someone could take it a step further and account for consecutive winning seasons, playoffs, strikes, new ballparks, etc.
  2. QUOTE (gatnom @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 08:14 AM) Obviously, people disagree on whether or not there should be a rebuild, but the amount of fans that show up next year is the dumbest argument I've heard, for or against it. no kidding.
  3. Burt Blyleven was traded by the Twins in 1976. Attendance went up in 1977 but that was a terrible trade.
  4. Attendance will fall if they trade him or not. This franchise is in a death spiral.
  5. Second Basemen: 300+ PAs, 32 total Rank Name wRC+ WAR 1 Daniel Murphy 158 5.4 2 Jose Altuve 152 6.4 3 Matt Carpenter 143 3.3 4 Brian Dozier 140 5.7 5 Robinson Cano 137 5.2 26 Brett Lawrie 91 0.8
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) That was exactly my point. We should be focusing on the fact that despite the legend behind the farm system developing position players, it has put not one, but two starters on the field this year for the White Sox.. Great. So let's stop trading our farmhands for over the hill bums.
  7. Since Lawrie went down, Saladino has a .750 OPS, which is higher than his overall....??
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 09:21 AM) Yes. In the offseason, the thought of Saladino at SS really upset a few. LOL. True, but did Rollins ease their concerns?
  9. Saladino looks like a better player to me. He might even have further upside, we don't know. I wouldn't mind having them both come back and compete for playing time. Imagine that concept.
  10. It's been the same damn thing year after year..."our guys are so bad it will be easy to find better." But it never is.
  11. no no. you said two. not one. unless its babe ruth reincarnated.
  12. Sure, two potent bats in the middle of the order would make a huge difference. Now, how are they going to get them?
  13. Does everyone get those email surveys from the White Sox as to why they go to games? I got one...just happened to be a Sale game. One of the questions was "Does the scheduled starting pitcher influence your decision to attend a game?" I said yes!
  14. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) So I think in the end the Sox will not find a trade partner for Sale that will give them 4-5 MLB players/prospects in return. That's my opinion too. Sox will dump salary to make things cash flow and market it is a rebuild around guys like Davidson, Tilson, and whatever they can scrounge in return for Robertson/Melky/Frazier.
  15. This isn't going to be a "retool" or a "rebuild" its going to be a "salary dump." Robertson $12MM Cabrera $15MM Frazier $10MM Lawrie $6MM ----------------------- $43MM in savings! Brilliant.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) The last time the White Sox did what would be considered a full rebuild, they kept one of their best players, if not their best, in Carlton Fisk. Was that a re-tool? They would have but he was a 5/10 guy with kids in local high schools. he wasn't going anywhere. The Larry Himes rebuild worked pretty well. Though that was pretty much the only thing he could do with collusion going on and not being able to sign any FA's.
  17. You "retool" something that was good to begin with. Like a Navy sub with new electronics and missiles. you don't retool the Titanic.
  18. Oh for crying out loud. So they are doing the same thing they always do.
  19. OK. There are two strategies that SORT OF make some sense: 1. Trade Sale and/or Quintana and the complementary parts for all the prospects you can (total rebuild) 2. Keep everyone essentially in place and try to catch lightning in a bottle again ("go for it") The one move that definitely does NOT make sense would be to trade all your complementary pieces but not Sale and/or Quintana (not even sure what this strategy would be called). That would get you exactly nowhere.
  20. whatever. he's not bringing much back one way or another.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) 1 year is worth way more than two months. Depends on the situation. If he is pitching well and healthy at the trade deadline next year I think he'd be worth more than he will be this offseason. Of course the odds of him being healthy and pitching well at the trade deadline are 50/50.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) Three. In that case, nevermind!
