  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) Well all I know is if I am Rick and another GM calls me and tries to tell me ANY of his prospects is not on the table for Chris or Jose, I'm just going to laugh and hang up. That is simply preposterous. Exactly.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) Rays got Drew Smyly, Wily Adames and Nick Franklin, Mariners got Jackson. Tremendous Dom trade actually. yes. yes it was.
  3. Trying to think of any trades involving pitchers similar to Sale over the past 20 years or so....David Price? Rays got Austin Jackson for him. Johnny Cueto...that deal looks terrible for the Reds. Johan Santana for Carlos Gomez? Going way back, Pedro for Pavano? Random thoughts I have in my brain.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:54 PM) Robertson for Michael Taylor and mid-level prospect is my guess That's about fair I guess. As a side note, he was #32 prospect in baseball a couple years ago and now he's relatively terrible.
  5. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) He's guaranteed $44 million over the next 2 years. Nobody is going to come close to that. You got that right.
  6. Moncada is 2 years younger, has 2-3 more years of team control, has more power, and hasn't had major shoulder surgery. And Profar hasn't exactly lit it up in his time in the majors.
  7. I don't want the #1 prospect from four years ago. I want the #1 prospect today.
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) I'm beginning to wonder what else the players have him buy and do that they don't want teams to know. That is the only thing that is making sense to me. This is likely the heart of the matter. Or what teams don't want to get involved in. Arranging things for women, etc.
  9. Profar can be a FA in 2020, so I don't see any appeal there.
  10. Rick Hahn needs to follow some sage words: I've got this thing (Sale) and it's f***ing golden, and, uh, uh, I'm just not giving it up for f***in' nothing. I'm not gonna do it.
  11. Ranaudo gave up 12 bombs in 78 innings in Charlotte which is a lot frightening vs. Cubs.
  12. OK, I am looking at the top chart. You are looking at the bottom chart.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:03 AM) https://twitter.com/ScottLindholm/status/758308579677995008 the most obvious takeaway from that chart is the declining velocity.
  14. Assuming we stay the course and go for it again in 2017, 2018 looks kind of scary. They have only a handful of position players under control...Abreu, Eaton, Anderson, Saladino...that is a lot of holes to fill somehow.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Or, you can trade that, get 2 impact prospects and a host of lottery tickets, and hope that they can go at a level and improve our development so we can hope that Fisher, Call, Eaton, Anderson, Collins can form a team with you know, ideallly Moncada and Benitendi, and then wild cards on the levels of Zangari, Engel, Adolfo, and the others. I'm not saying that is the best plan, but it is a reasonable plan. Doing nothing and hoping for better results is not a good plan.
  16. I don't think Robertson is worth much but hopefully I am pleasantly surprised.
  17. was hoping they could trade Lawrie to somebody desperate for a 2b/3b and then slide Saladino in at 2B. but being on the DL kind of puts a crimp in that plan.
  18. Schnurbusch was terrible in college, so I dunno about him.
  19. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) Someone on twitter said it's all smoke and mirrors, his FIP is high and so is his BABIP. Latos part deux? Sort of seems like it. His K/IP is still terrible.
  20. Hard to believe this is a below .500 team watching them play the past few days.
  21. Supposing they trade Q and/or Sale, I wouldn't mind getting a good 1B prospect back and putting Abreu at DH permanently.
  22. So you guys can't handle a top 5 pitcher who throws a temper tantrum a couple times per year? Need to trade him to show who's the boss?
