  1. I would pass on that St.Louis deal in .000001 seconds.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:41 PM) If your boss tells you to wear something to work, you wear it. Period. A lot of guys have gotten in trouble trying that.
  3. Best wishes to the little guy. I will hug my own kids a little tighter tonight.
  4. They also traded Sabathia and got zero out of it. EDIT: Well, they got Michael Brantley which someone noted, who is pretty good.
  5. The guy has legit value. Turn the screws on somebody.
  6. This was handled so poorly I can't help but wonder if he wasn't set up so the fans (all 20,000 of them) won't go ballistic when he is dealt.
  7. Since this thread was created, Robertson has given up 7 runs in 4 innings. Maybe it should be deleted?
  8. I doubt Sale has a problem with the clubhouse staff.
  9. So the clubhouse staff is ordering Sale around?
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 05:14 PM) This didn't involve Hahn until Sale lost his mind again. So who did it involve?
  11. The Harvard lawyer couldn't figure out a way to negotiate a reasonable accommodation for the best player on the team?
  12. voted sell but limited sell. 2017 is their last chip at the craps table.
  13. I'd rather have somebody who can flat out go and get it in CF, even if he has an OPS of .500. Shuck is a horrible CF'er.
  14. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 06:23 PM) Collins is supposed to be in WS, but he's not starting for some reason http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20160714 he always seems to have some excuse for not playing.
  15. he can be an idiot all he wants, just don't paralyze anyone in the process.
  16. Well Fangraphs has them at 0.3% chance of winning the world series. So yay! I guess.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) The Sox have as good of a shot as anybody in the playoffs because they have legitimate #1 starter, plus another #1 starter type behind him. It is all about your front line pitchers. Last time I checked they had about a 15% chance of even MAKING the playoffs. That is the point.
  18. I'm not arguing the point in general. But people take that to mean, "well if X, Y, and Z happens the Sox can win 88 games and have just a good a shot at a championship as anybody."
  19. I did an analysis a year or so ago. Teams that won 95 games during the year won about 60% of their playoff series. So it is not a total crapshoot. Better teams have a better chance on average. but teams that don't make the playoffs have 0% chance.
  20. Good job on the interview. So, my question is...even casual fans have known the importance of OBP for like 15 years. Why are the Sox just focusing on those guys now?
  21. OK, now I'm curious. what do they do with the nice stadiums?
  22. But until they stop being caught unprepared when their fringey prospects or aging veterans flop in a starting role, or are willing to expand their budget to absorb big contracts in trade or free agency, or do something as craven but purposeful as a hard rebuild, it will be hard to understand what they are doing. That about sums it up.
  23. That Charlotte roster is something else...
  24. Is he ready to lead the Socialist revolution in the US?
