I'm thinking this may be an arod/pujols scenario where there's a number of teams in the race and then all the sudden the number is way over what people expected.
Don't these people ever learn?
Lot of veteran guys we brought in over the years thinking "hey, he's not too bad, stats look decent" and then you get a close look at them every day and realize why the other team got rid of them.

Dayan Viciedo? I don't think a 25/78 season makes him the worst player in White Sox history.
I think he just missed the top ten worst WAR I posted earlier.
All Thompson has to do is perform as he has all the way up the ladder. If he hits .235, 15HR and draws some walks, plus above average defense in CF and you have a good player.
Pitchers
Name WAR
Scott Eyre -1.4
Ken Patterson -1.3
Jesse Jefferson -0.9
Carlos Castillo -0.8
Lerrin LaGrow -0.5
Doug Drabek -0.1
Hector Noesi 0.1
Dylan Axelrod 0.1
Cy Acosta 0.2
Batters Since 1952:
Name WAR
Luis Alvarado -2.5
Rich Morales -2.1
Greg Norton -1.7
Jeff Abbott -1.7
George Bell -1.6
Avisail Garcia -1.5
Mike Squires -1.1
Mike Caruso -1
Chris Snopek -0.9

Wait the Sox have a crowded OF? Who's crowding it? All the negative WAR bums?
That's exactly what I was thinking!
Which is which?

Dunn was a F*ing disaster. anyone who thinks otherwise must be sniffing glue. 2011 was perhaps the worst performance in MLB history:
Season Team wRC+
2007 Reds 135
2008 2 Teams 130
2009 Nationals 142
2010 Nationals 136
2011 White Sox 60

2013 White Sox 107

Lawrie would easily be our best 3B since Crede if this happens.
Not sure why so many don't like it.
A. we don't know what the sox are giving up.
B. he's not that good, and
C. best since Crede can still be garbage.

Well, let's see...2016, 2017, 2018, 2019.
OK. how many times will they all be healthy and still in prime form? nobody knows.
