  1. fangraphs has his average value over the past three years at $3.4 per year.
  2. targetting wife beaters is the new market inefficiency.
  3. I'm exaggerating slightly, but the last couple of years of arbitration can get pricey too.
  4. the problem with this guy is right about the time he figures it out he'll be a free agent. that's why I want to ship him to the minors if possible.
  5. How would you like to be one of their season ticket sales reps now? Management has to give them something to work with.
  6. his numbers away from Coors are terrible.
  7. My hunch is that Justin Upton would be a safer bet, but who knows?
  8. I think he can be optioned out one more time?? Not sure on that. Maybe a taste of AAA would make him change some things.
  9. Of course they'd go to the presentation, why not? They want to know what's going on in the market.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 08:08 AM) I wonder if he has any real trade value I think it would be a terrible time to trade him. If he has any kind of reasonable success in 2016, his trade value would be 10X what it is now.
  11. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) Levine always seems like a type to me who's always been a microphone for whatever the Cubs/Sox FO's message to the fans is. Agree 100%. He's been buddying up to the teams for 30 years. He gets some scoops to reward his favorable treatment.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) This article brings up a good target for the Sox: They should pursue Dioner Navarro to split time with Flowers. I don't know why they didn't sign him two years ago after his nice year with the Cubs.
  13. Hahn's quotes seem to be different from the "all in" type of rhetoric we heard last offseason. So a change in strategic philosophy? Intentionally tempering expectations for 2016? Does this mean trading away Quintana? There are no rumors going around so this is the best I have to ponder over.
  14. so you guys think these are phony quotes or is it that Hahn's words were not intended to convey any message.
  15. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/11/11/lev...ebuilding-mode/ “Last year we saw the opportunity to be aggressive and address certain areas of need,” Hahn said. “We wanted to build around the core we had. In the future, you would want your core to be bigger and activity in free agency being a little less.” “We are trying to do this (rebuild properly) as soon as possible,” Hahn said. “If you look at the teams right now that you would praise or emulate — Houston, Kansas City, the Cubs and Pittsburgh — they all spent a minimum of five years under .500. They did it by the draft, trades and international signings. So there is a template out there that shows it takes time.”
  16. eaton has above average arm strength and below average brain strength when using it.
  17. I think they have to stir up some interest to sell some tickets. Ergo Quintana goes for some "name" player. That's my current theory anyway.
  18. I'm thinking JR is holding the budget pretty tight on Hahn. Ventura always liked Saladino and I don't see much drop off from Ramirez. Not $9MM in drop off at least.
  19. Not sure how Hahn can stomach having to report to KW.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) Everyone has to remember when comparing contracts that Alexei's age is a factor too. how old is the guy, I wonder?
  21. I would like another legit vet. Maybe Broxton or somebody like that. A reliable setup guy.
  22. well that is true. maybe times have changed that much where a guy like Alomar would have that kind of pull.
  23. I think his bat works at SS but not as well at 3B. Don't see a huge improvement over Ramirez and he'll cost $45-$65MM????
