  1. What a joke...maybe that would have been credible had he said it a few weeks ago.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) Oh and by the way... you didn't KNOW they were doing them. At least not immediately. You SUSPECTED. No, he knew. Just like I knew, and anyone with half a brain knew.
  3. Hopefully the guys that got named will start fingerpointing other guys not on the list.
  4. How in the hell is Luis Gonzalez not on that list?

    KW

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 07:18 AM) So lets see, KW has a team that was 6 losses away from being the worst in baseball on the major league level. His farm system ranks next to last in baseball. He has the payroll up over $100 million, and he thinks the upgrade of Cabrera over Uribe, Quentin, Linebrink plus a CF like Crisp while taking away Garland from the rotation and putting Floyd and Danks in there for a full season will cure all that ails this team. He is arrogant I'll give him that. Probably not very smart either. Yeah, but they are going to try harder this year.
  7. 80 names out of a couple thousand players. yeah, that's realistic.
  8. ESPN said there were 60-80 current/former players on the list. There have been that many names that have come out in the press in recent years. I don't think there will be any surprises. The guys I always suspected were Mags and Rowand. Howry too. Kroch obviously.
  9. the problem is he doesn't want an option for 2009 when he will be good.
  10. Schuler just did what he was told.
  11. Just thought I'd bump this up so we could pile on KW a little more.
  12. QUOTE(yoyozuna @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 08:45 AM) OK I sure hope you are only talking in Fictional Firesale Mode. But I'm sorry this is the most pathetic quote I have ever seen from a "SOX" fan. So lets say we have a HUGE offensive year and our BP plays solid and DANKS and FLOYD bomb, you would be hoping they DON'T make the playoffs. Way to support the team. Just go North and get yourself a WOO WOO Jersey I am sure they'll welcome you with open arms. GO SOX!!!!!!!!! um, that was a joke.
  13. I agree with young Tony. The Sox are a business and need to keep the customers happy. Right now the customers are not happy. Best plan is to sign somebody with some name value make some shrewd minor deals. Then pray for a miracle that this team can compete for a wildcard and keep things interesting.
  14. That guy could hardly get it out of the infield when he first came up.
  15. Oh guys! Don't be so negative! Just pop some zoloft.
  16. Gonzalez had on ops+ of 37. That's impressive.
  17. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 09:30 AM) sure theyre spending more than us this offseason but u cant compare them to us. theyre payroll is 50-60 mil, were at 100 or so. plus they give out stupid contracts. meche 5/51?, guillen 3/12mil per, now silva? We spent $50 mil more and got three more wins. THEY give out stupid contracts?
  18. The timing seemed weird with the Uribe option picked up right before Cabrera trade. WTF was going on behind the scenes?
  19. I'm scarred for life from watching people like Steve Lyons, Carlos Martinez, and Kenny Williams try to play 3B. I'm not in favor of giving one away for nothing.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 11:56 AM) No one knows how Elias calculates that stat. I don't even think Elias does. But the reality is, Joe Crede hit .216 last year and put up an OPS of .575 in nearly 200 plate appearances. For his 2 year average numbers (which is supposedly what they look at for that stat, your performance the 2 years before you hit FA) he would have to put up an OPS over .900 to drag his 2 year combined numbers up into the .750-.800 range where he might be considered type B. based on 2006 and 2007, he is a B. so to stay a B, he'd have to match his 2006 again in 2008. unlikely.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) It's going to take a monster season from Joe Crede to move himself up into Type B free agent territory. do you know how elias calculates this?
  22. No props to KW. He promised a wii and delivered a hand-knit linebrink sweater.
  23. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 12:15 PM) If you believe him (BL), what does that tell you? KW is trying to lead the league in HBPs.
