  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) No, worst case scenario is he plays out the year, never recovers, takes $5 million from us, and walks without us getting draft picks. He'd have to have a very good season to get us a pick. Maybe, but if he could be something between 2005 and 2006, he'd rate at least a type B. Fields is no guarantee to be as good as last year. But if you can get something good for Crede, go ahead and trade him.
  2. Why would you come out and say you are definitely going to trade someone? That hurts your bargaining power. If no one offers anything decent for Crede, keep him. Worst case scenario he plays out the year and we get draft picks. More than likely he'll get healthy and some other team will find themselves in a bind and will pay what he's worth.
  3. The best time to deal Crede is when he's healthy and playing well in spring training.
  4. cubs would be silly not to offer arbitration. he'll get like 3 mil. he could get 8 wins. 120 innings or something.
  5. linebrink is the same as riske who we didn't even offer arbitration to last year. (who needs draft picks?).
  6. anyone know of a forum where you can say anything you want and not get banned?
  7. this reminds me back in around 88 or 89 larry himes was trying to sign some cheap veteran free agents to help our miserable team. none of them would come. he tried buddy bell, keith hernandez, and willie randolph...larry parrish. there were others but i can't remember. those were the days...
  8. 150 pitches from britt burns! he was a big hoss back in the day.
  9. if he's the long term 3B solution, that would be a dumb idea.
  10. if you can't vividly remember 1985, don't even bother voting b/c you don't have a clue.
  11. this is a good trade talent wise, but it's yet another move that weakens the 2007 roster. i'm baffled as to what the plan is.
  12. i dunno how old some of you are, but it seems the older you are the more you tend to be realistic/pessimistic. just looking at the moves that were made, i don't see much if any improvement in the 2007 roster versus the 2006. maybe the rotation will be a little better, but then probably the konerko/thome/dye combo will be a little worse. the bullpen is pretty frightening and the LF/CF combo is horrible. it's nice to have a backup catcher though.
  13. the hope would be a little better hitter than pods and a much better fielder. i mean, that's not a lot to ask for. cut his ass if he can't do that.
  14. he could platoon with BA, or take Pods' job if he were healthy. Maybe a fourth OF? Offer him a minor league deal?
  15. he'd be a hell of a lot better than pods.
  16. maybe we can get karko out of retirement. he'd still be better defensively than alomar.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) ^^^ I enjoy the posts too... Anything is better than the "nuh-uh", "uh-huh" type arguements that seem to be going on perpetually... nuh-uh
  18. with that changeup he should be able to pitch OK until he's 40. he could be the next doug jones.
  19. garcia is a near lock to pitch 200 innings, get 15 wins and have an era around 4.00. how many first year starters do that. maybe 5% of them?
