  1. Who are you talking about? Diaz & Grilli? I think it would be a mistake to count on them to be decent. Even with a bum like estes you know what you're going to get.
  2. Whoever is the cheapest. Then use the extra money to improve C and 2B.
  3. If we could get a #5 starter who could pitch 180 innings and keep his ERA around 5.00, that would be a huge upgrade. I'd rather shore up the lineup now (C, 2B) and worry about getting a top notch pitcher later in the season if we are cruising into the playoffs.
  4. I thought I heard Hairston might not be ready on opening day....otherwise it seems he'd be the best of that bunch. Could steal 30 bases, good defender, decent OBP.
  5. AJ would be a pretty good #2 hitter good hit and run guy hits lefty contact hitter so can afford to take strikes when Podsednik steals. not great OBP, but certainly an upgrade over Davis. I'd platoon burke & AJ, release Davis and his salary.
  6. I'd rather see Konerko and his $8.5 salary go than Anderson.
  7. $10 mil per is OK IF he is healthy. He got rocked after coming off the DL late in the year. We can't afford to piss 15% of the payroll down the drain if he winds up having major surgery.
  8. That's a steal even if he hits .260, 15 HR.
  9. If Uribe produces like he did last year, he's one of the best SS's in the league, even if he goes 0 for July. But he sucked before last year. So what's he going to be in 2005? Who knows?
  10. Don't disagree with the main idea, but Pedro only got $13 mil because last year he was unpedroesque and there's serious concern his arm is going to fall off. Pedro of old would probably get $18 mil or more.
  11. Taking the word of a pussy who waited until Lee was gone before he wrote the story.
  12. I gotta say, even though the guy is potentially dying, he still hangs on to the hate. Sad really. Wonder what petty slight Carlos did to Cowley? The stats are completely bogus. The claims are completely unsubstantiated. A few examples that would show a player in a bad light could be found for any player.
  13. When he does that it will be a good move.
  14. I kinda figured KW had something all lined up when he made the deal, especially since he had run around to find JR to get the "OK." I guess not.
  15. i posted this elsewhere, but: "Carlos Lee fills our biggest offseason need," Brewers general manager Bob Melvin said. "He is the perfect fit with Geoff Jenkins and Lyle Overbay in the middle of our order. We knew that we needed to give up two good players to make this transaction happen." assuming vizcaino is the other good player, that doesn't say much for the PTBNL
  16. "Carlos Lee fills our biggest offseason need," Brewers general manager Bob Melvin said. "He is the perfect fit with Geoff Jenkins and Lyle Overbay in the middle of our order. We knew that we needed to give up two good players to make this transaction happen." doesn't sound too promising as far as the PTBNL goes. i gotta say, unless we use that cash for something good, this trade sucks ass.
  17. this will be another one of those trades everyone says is horrible before the fact and good after the fact.
  18. I like Podsednik, but straight up for Lee would be terrible...
  19. That infield will probably be better than what they had this year.
  20. JR hangs around the office all day? What does he do?
  21. It appears we didn't draft or lose anyone, per BA's blog.
  22. I haven't studied it greatly, but it seems as if there is more talent this year than usual. I wish we'd take a flyer on some guy...$50,000 is chump change.
  23. That has to be BS. Hinske is worse than Crede. Batista would be our #5 starter. Absurd.
