  1. well quite a few folks defended him up til now. they probably still will.
  2. i didn't say he was using, but the idea crosses my mind when his OPS+ goes from 130 to 90. (vizquel's was 95 last year) if you think last year was a "normal" year for him, then I don't think he's worth $10 mil/per.
  3. given with what's been going on in the news i can't help but be concerned about any player who's stats took a dip last year (sosa, giambi, brown, renteria?)
  4. alomar could be decent as a utility infielder but i doubt he would "lower" himself to such status.
  5. doesn't the opponent have to pitch in the same park as he does?
  6. metro detroit has about 5.5 million people. if the tigers get rolling they could become the dominant team in the AL Central.
  7. i think words are cheap.
  8. as that famous philosopher T.O. once said, "if it smells like a rat...."
  9. can he be optioned to AAA again?
  10. Wait, what is appealing about this guy as a starter? Low OBP, mediocre SLG. I don't get it. Those stats would be decent for a SS....94 OPS+ last year, career 92.
  11. i meant that's what i thought he would get. i didn't mean that's what i think he's worth.
  12. yeah i thought of bere. jose guzman too if anyone remembers him.
  13. OK. what's he gonna get paid? i'll go 3 years 20 mil.
  14. atlanta certainly has a great record for evaluating talent. why would they let him go?
  15. obviously a health risk. but so is every pitcher.
  16. more like not being proud of your deadbeat dad who walked out on your mother with three kids below the age of 5. maybe you still love him, but you're certainly not proud of him.
  17. some great points in the above 5 messages. seriously.
  18. oh well, i guess i'm not a fan. when people ask i'll say i'm a white sox devotee. now i know what to say when people accuse me of not being a real fan. "quite right. i'm not fan. i'm a devotee."
  19. can't you see the difference between being a fan of a team (and proud of it) and being proud of the team itself? i don't see a commitment to excellence. sorry.
  20. how could anyone be proud of this team? you take pride in complete mediocrity? i'm a fan, but i was born that way, no choice in the matter.
  21. well i want all the f***ing bandwagon fans we can get to bring in some money and hopefully JR will spend it. my pride or lack therof in the white sox has nothing to do with their record on the field. questioning someone's "fanness" is about as weak as it gets..."oh yeah, oh yeah, well...you're nothing but a bandwagon fan!" EEEK!
  22. and i'm glad you agree that this team is still a joke. however, before JR, the sox were at least as popular as the cubs throughout history. finishing 2nd or 3rd (out of 5 teams!) in the low rent AL central is nothing to hang your hat on. especially now that 8 teams make the playoffs, not 2. in the past 15 years the sox have averaged 83.7 wins and finished below .500 five times. in the 15 years 1953 to 1967 the sox averaged 89.5 wins and never finished below .500. no, they never won a championship but at least a sox fan could wear his hat proudly around town.
  23. i checked the official fan registry and you're not in it. better send in your dues.
