Mags turned down a pretty damn good offer from all accounts. One that was more than anyone thought the sox would offer and one that many thought was too generous. At that point it became clear he would not return.
it COULD be a stamina issue. not necessarily, but possible...
remember his first year I think it was when he was sucking it up in the rotation, they put him in relief and he did a good job.
I mean there are hardly any closers who ever succeed without 95+ mph heat. I can only think of a few....
