  1. BTW, the minors are in much better shape now then they were in the mid-80s. Mike Bertotti, Tom Drees, Aubrey Waggoner, Joel Davis, Russ Mormon, Tony Menendez, Grady Hall.
  2. • Is the White Sox' contract extension offer still on the table? According to one source it is. But only time will tell if Ordonez accepts the original deal or still tries testing the free-agent market at the end of the season. The original deal was reported to be 5 years, $70 million. That is what I'm talking about. If that deal is on the table RIGHT NOW, the Sox are crazy. I seriously doubt that it is... Of course I'd sign him to a one year contract if possible. I have no idea how this will play out because Ordonez already turned down a terrific offer. Maybe he doesn't want to play here anymore.
  3. 1. He's not healthy. 2. Knowing our budget limitations, $14 million could be better spent elsewhere.
  4. Maybe you need to be a scout to realize Diaz is a future ace. Of course I've never heard reports of any scout thinking that...
  5. I'd be really surprised if he got $10 million per, but there are some stupid GMs out there.
  6. You don't give $70 million to someone on the DL with an unusual knee injury. Diaz might be a decent #3 or #4 starter some day. If we're lucky...
  7. OK. If the Sox are still willing to give Ordonez $70 million, they are nuts. and if KW thinks Feliz Diaz is untouchable, he is double nuts.
  8. Most of these guys are 2-3 years from getting to the majors. Then another couple of years before they could be considered solid players. That's 5-6 years from now. Who the hell is going to be on this team in the mean time?
  9. I don't believe you can survive by consistently dealing prospects for vets over the long haul. It's just the sheer number of guys we've given up over the past few years....
  10. It would be nice if Borchard got at least half a season in the majors to see what he can do.
  11. He could be a useful player if you could predict his hot and cold streaks.
  12. He's worth a lot more than that on the open market. What did ponson get?
  13. cool. i didn't know we had a knuckleballer in the minors.
  14. major arm surgery. lost velocity. what more do you need to know?
  15. good point. we could have had him for virtually nothing in the offseason if we wanted to gamble the $$$.
  16. 1. relief pitching 2. relief pitching 3. another solid starter.
  17. Just curious... How many million is FG willing to give up to play with his buddy? That way we can better analyze the trade..
  18. He's only going to sign if he believes he's getting "fair market value." Assuming he's going to get "fair market value", it doesn't matter when we sign him. He gets it all the same.
  19. ..when evaluating the trade. We've got him for half a season. At the end of the season we have the chance to sign him just like every other team. If we had not traded for him, we'd still have the chance to sign him to a long term deal.
  20. There was some interesting stuff said in regards to Boston and New York. KW said those teams can draft the best talent and not worry about the money it takes to sign them. And they have extensive international scouting systems and have money to sign foreign (non-latin) talent. Wonder who he's comparing them to?
  21. we have an option on shingo. i think konerko's got another year.
  22. Sweeney is a lesser prospect? This is a salary dump for ATL. They're not going to give us Drew instead.
  23. If you've been a fan of this team for any amonut of time and don't feel the need to rant every now and again, you're nuts. Let the guy say what he wants. Why do people feel the need to control what other people say/feel?
