Keeping him around as the backup does not seem worth it for the potential team issues it could cause. I think you trade him for whatever you can get, which at this point is probably a fourth rounder to be a backup somewhere else.
This is where I'm at. Chris Getz didn't say they were competing this year, Reinsdorf did. I'd like to think Getz looked at the situation and said, "Yeah we are punting this year."
To fill out a roster with cheap guys you can easily cut while you wait for the younger guys to come up and take their place. Also hope some of them give you a little something so you can trade them at the deadline.
He was well on his way to being in my top 3 Sox players of all time, and then he very much wasn't. Hope it works out for him but I'm doubting he will be able to find it again.
