I'd love AJP to get Tommy Pham on his podcast and see what he really thinks about the White Sox.
He should be thankful they saved his career.

Getz much prefers dealing with aggressive guys like Anthopolous and Preller - so don't count out the Padres.
If it's between those two then please be the Padres.

The Braves would be the worst team to match with and I don't even think it is close.

He’s been stealing bases and going all out on D. You wanna see low effort? Wait until Vargas gets here.
Dodgers fans I've read say he played with a ton of heart and will be missed. But, okay.

I think it'll be Atlanta. No idea why just a feeling. Baltimore making a trade of that caliber would be a first.
Atlanta is the worst possible option.

There probably are teams willing to buy low. We just can’t afford to sell low.
Yeah say what you want about the current regime, but they are not dumb enough to just give Luis Robert away for no reason at his lowest.

Guessing Reinsdorf made it an edict that Crochet has to be out the door today. Hopefully with enough teams bidding the value still stays high. Not shocking Robert doesn't have a lot of interest. He needs to rebuild his value.

If true, expect Steve to be retired this year, finally.
I'm hoping both are gone under the "we have switched over to this new station." However, I'm sure it'll be Schriffen and Beckham.

Maybe more teams got back into it after he saw what they got for Fedde and now it's a bidding war. Getz playing chess!!!!

It’s true but also if they can’t generate any hitting internally the ability to trade for it is fools gold anyway.
Well, I'll hold out hope they can actually start developing some hitters at some point because what else do I have?

I would be more livid if we kept trading for pitching prospects just because they were more available. Hitting is expensive as hell right now, but look how much easier it is to compete with all world hitting (orioles) than all world pitching (mariners). Pitching can be found so much cheaper, I don’t think that means hoarding. Moneyball or not.
I agree with you. It's an unfortunate situation in this climate that the Sox DESPERATELY need hitting, because it cost far more than pitching currently does.

I think he goes to the Mets today.

Fire him already.

Moncada? He will have another setback for sure or get reinjured the second he comes back. And even if he doesn’t, what would be the point of even playing him? A waiver deal? Not with his performance, disappearance, and bloated contract.
Moncada will never be in a Sox uniform again.

When you have a lineup devoid of bats and not very many position prospects, you can’t afford to come up a player short in a trade of one of your last few trade assets.
I think any other player would have been a lottery ticket at best.

When this was posted earlier today on social, the comments after were primarily that this would be incredible for the Sox. Yes, it’s mostly because of the Orioles trade for Crochet and probably the Dodgers trade for Robert Jr. The two other trades are Fedde to Cards and Kopech & Pham to Pirates for Jordan Walker and Pirates OF prospect McAdoo.
With that lens, I would much rather have Vargas (over Walker) and the two young upside bats from the Dodgers system then DeRo’s trade proposals. Perhaps a lottery ticket short as @Y2Jimmy0 said but do we really care about another Bryan Flete or whatever his name was in the Quintana deal ?
Yeah I think it's lighter than it should be, but I don't think this single handily is killing the rebuild. Last year Vargas was a top 40 prospect. The other two are young but have promising profiles that don't really exist in the system. It's for sure missing one player, but it's not AWFUL to me.

I feel like we had a white guy, short dude, with flowing locks, that was like a mildly hyped OF type but because he was a short white dude with flowing locks and some rizz he got more hype than warranted. f*** his name is on the tip of my tongue.

@Y2Jimmy0 - How do you feel about the trade?
He tweeted about it. Not nearly as angry as everyone here.

It's his job. I don't care what his story is. He has to communicate to Crochet's camp and square anything away. It sounds like from other teams that he got blindsided here. That can't happen.
He was communicating with his camp. They didn’t tell him this. There is no reason to not believe they didn’t tell him this.

Yup. With a limited number of trade assets, Getz has burned several while not getting a single foundational piece to build with going forward. How exactly are they going to build a contending team again?
I’m not accepting Drew Thrope write offs already.

That guy has as much inside info as I do, and he adds a dash of sexism with it.
