I meant whether the text is legit or not is inconsequential. All that is true either way. No one with any other option wants to sign with the Sox and the Sox have hit rock bottom. We already knew Harper liked the Sox and got left hanging in favor of Machado, who of course they failed to sign
-
Rojas in that scenario could still back up 2b, 3b and in effect 1b, since you can put him at 3b or 2b and plug in Vargas or Sosa at 1b with Beni in left and Fletcher or Taylor in RF
-
Rojas can play outfield and would be a preferable option to someone like Palacios imo. If it were up to me, I'd dump Vaugn, Palacios and Dalbec in favor of Elko, Fletcher and Rojas. They could DH Benintendi and have Rojas in left and Fletcher in right against righties

It's not like we're investigating a crime here. I don't know if this legit or not, but it sounds about right. Either way, it's completely inconsequential. One way or another, JR has crashed the Sox into the side of the mountain

I' m not saying he was an inevitable failure or that he wasnt a talented athlete but I would think a first round draft pick would have put up better numbers in high school. Plenty of QBs and basketball players couldn't hit high level pitching so not sure how that's relevant
-
It was a question not a point. My point was that if he hit .333 in high school ball in Indiana maybe he's just not very good. Half my high school team in Indiana hit over .300
-
He was drafted in '22, began '23 at low A, advanced to WS after 66 games and then Birmingham after 31 games where he played 30 games. Restarted AA in '24 and advanced to AAA where he played 48 games, and has now been the best hitter in the minors less than 24 months after he was playing in Kannapolis. What else could he do? Either he can hit or he can't
-
He's only had two full years in minors and advanced two levels each year. Not sure what else he could do in that situation
-
Was Getz responsible for the Montgomery draft selection?
-
Someone posted he hit .333 as a senior playing high school in Indiana. Not sure if thats true but if it is, it seems insanely mediocre for a first round draft pick. Maybe picking him was the mistake . He hasn't been particularly good above A ball. Could be he just doesn't have that much talent
-
It's OK I thought you knew what can't means

I really dont get playing Amaya and his .080 slugging percentage over Workman. What they pick him up for, just to look at him?
-
It doesn't have to make sense. Sox are rebuilding and need bats. Worrying about match ups is pointless at this point
-
They can though. They could carry four OFers with Baldwin able to play there, or they could cut Amaya with Baldwin and workman covering SS or they could cut Dalbec who would be redundant anyway
-
It's not even the biggest stretch of the last 12 hours

That's manslaughter! JR's a menace! Killed by the Sox, what a sad state of affairs
-
Madrigal's faith tore the club apart? That seems like kind of ludicrous assertion. He wasn't even on the team anymore when everything went to s%*#

Wait a minute. You sure that wasn't against the Twins? This is game I was thinking of, Aug 31: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA201108310.shtml The Sox were down 7-3 going into bottom of the 8th, scored one in eighth and two in ninth, when Lillibridge was due up with Paulie on deck. Lillibridge had walked and homered and Ozzie sent in Dunn for him to whiff, killing the rally
