    Robert

Robert has always struck me as a guy going though the motions, but with his talent, the motion produced good results when he was locked in and healthy. But he doesn’t seem to possess a real ball player mentality
  2. Baldwin, Sosa, Vargas and Fletcher are already on the roster. DeLoach sucks. I’d rather just hold off on Quero but you may be right there. No excuse for not playing Colas though imo. Who is AHT?
  3. Colas for Sheets, but otherwise, yeah
  4. Playing on a 120 loss team was so disheartening, HOFer Richie Ashburn just up and retired despite being perfectly healthy and having just hit .306 with a .424 OBP. Yet Grifol persists.
  5. Did you guys forget about this one:
  6. Yeah but if you have a horrible manager why would you want to keep him. Presumably, if you had a horrible team you’d want to improve it
  7. We’re only a couple good Baldwin games from a complete lineup of .200+ hitters. ?
  8. Damn, they really do have it down to a fine art. We got no chance
  9. At this age, just setting my cigar in a holder is a thrill.
  10. The season would have to be 332 games long for this team to win 80 games
  11. How is it any more meaningless than anyone’s current status then? As I pointed out, he has .440 OBP and 1.000 OPS at AAA and 107 OPS+ at mlb THIS YEAR. The only thing different is Vargas past rookie threshold
  12. Vargas also produced at every minor league stop. You get player B and then he goes through the same struggles when and if he gets to MLB. I don’t see the big advantage there compared to Vargas, having been significantly higher rated to begin with, already in the majors and having gone through the adjustment period. This year Vargas has an .440 OBP and over 1.000 OPS at AAA and 107+ OPS at MLB level. He’s been over .400 OBP each of last three years. I don’t see how someone like Starlyn Caba would be preferable just because the don’t yet have 350 mlb PA. Sure the extra year is a consideration but seems to me like there’s a significant gap between Vargas and guys ranked closer to 75-100 at the moment. None of those guys have come close to “producing at every level” compared to Vargas
  13. I don’t see what that has to do with the question of Vargas’ value vs. a current lower top 100 infield prospect, but OK
  14. So if the Sox trade Fedde for a top 100 prospect who hasn’t yet struggled through his first 350 PA, that would have been good, but getting a guy who a year ago was ranked in 30-40 range is a fail? He was rated a 65/55 bat a year ago whereas infielders currently rated in lower part of top 100 would be like a 55/50 bat at best
  15. Vargas was rated in top 40 a year ago with a 65/55 bat
  16. Well yeah it doesn’t look great, but depends on how good Vargas actually is. If he is a high obp infielder with power, the Sox obviously can use that
  17. If Vargas is an above average starting infielder over the next five years, then this will have been a pretty good trade, in my opinion. Don’t really know how good Vargas is, so it’s hard to say at this juncture. Looking at the secondary pieces, their rankings are pretty disappointing, but at least they are high OBP type guys and I suspect Perez may be currently underrated. Getz has obviously put an emphasis on acquiring prospects with advanced on base skills at their age, which is good
  18. I just want to point out I predicted Kopech as a member of the Dodgers’ rotation by 2026 on a couple occasions a few months ago. Not sure how to search the forum in order to prove it, but I hope it is duly noted nonetheless
  19. Yeah but he was a top 40 prospect last year, and he’s had over .400 OBP each of last three years in minors. What bothers me is that he has hair on one side of his head but not the other, in his baseball ref pic. I mean, what the H?
  20. Yeah it seems like there should be a prospect coming from the cardinals. Are we sure we have the final trade info
