  1. You people are all such cucks. Go f*** your own faces.
  2. What the f*** does “ope” mean? My statement was that it was stunning that the network wasn’t on Fubo for NBA opening night. The Fubo agreement is a good thing but it in no way changes my original assertion that they should’ve made an agreement before the season opener. Try harder.
  3. Honest question. Do you think the junior staffer/intern that did the graphic and put Hall of Famer at the bottom was chuckling to themselves? That’s gotta be a reference to “Hall of Famer baseball person” right? It just seems like an odd title. You could easily say White Sox Advisor Tony La Russs.
  4. This is actually a good point. Most people will not dispute the value of analytics….however, one of the biggest things I learned during my MBA is that you can pretty easily skew data to support your pre-conceived position. I can easily cherry pick numbers that my boss wants to make the shareholder meeting presentation look like everything is sunshine, cotton candy, and unicorns. If the new “research and development” department feels pressure from above, and they absolutely will in an organization with Jerry and TLR, they’re just going to twist the numbers to support the way the bosses opinions. Just think you’re a junior analyst with the White Sox. Do you think you want to take an objective looks at the data and walk into an office or prepare a report that essentially says bunting is dumb. Or…do you want to filter out the data so you can make the data say bunting is awesome and probably get a promotion? I know what I’d do…
  5. You get historically bad by signing a bunch of guys that can’t hit under the guise of speed and defense and then…you still are among the worst defensive teams in the league and the base running looks like a circus. Then you sign guys like Mike Clevinger while giving away others at the deadline for near nothing.
  6. This is 4d chess by Getz, TLR, and JR. Field the worst team in league history so…anything looks like an improvement and is “encouraging.” 121 losses? Don’t worry we’ve “rebranded” the analytics department and are now calling it Research and Development! Gave away Kopech and Fedde for nothing at the deadline? Dont worry there will now be “liaisons” to the yet to be named manager! Owner is trying to extort the taxpayers for $2 billion dollars? Dont worry we’ve got new leadership for “some of these departments.” It’s a fucking joke and it will be a joke until Jerry is in the ground.
  7. Yep. I think that’s the whole point. RSNs are dead and…Jerry is now trying to launch an RSN for 3 professional teams and apparently playing hardball with the largest cable provider in the region and the largest streamers. Not at least having a deal with Fubo as the NHL and NBA seasons is unconscionable. No Comcast agreement and a lack of an app when regular season games are being played is unbelievable. I actually think OTA was a pretty good idea but saying that broadcast signals in Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Des Moines, Springfield, Paducah, Davenport, Peoria, Quincy, & Sioux City are “coming soon” 4 weeks after your launch is insane incompetence.
  8. Bulls season opener and still no Comcast, Fubo, or Hulu deal. I figured the Hawks and the NHL wouldn’t move the needle much but not having a deal by the nba regular season is a little stunning.
  9. There’s a fire station in Englewood currently without a ladder truck and ambulance because the city can’t afford to fix them. They just cancelled two consecutive police academy classes because they literally can’t afford to run them. The state of Illinois is a single notch above junk status on its debt rating. But yeah…let’s totally give the worst team in MLB history with a billionaire owner a bunch of public funds to build a new stadium and get richer even though he completely ripped us off on the last one. How exactly do you think both the City and State got into this situation?
  10. I don’t completely disagree but that is all a byproduct of the ownership and the most dysfunctional organization in professional sports. Guaranteed Rate is absolutely still a serviceable stadium for an MLB team. The facility and location aren’t the issue, it’s the incompetent execution and management by ISFA and Jerry. Putting a competitive product on the field is far more important than the stadium. They just lost the most games in league history. There are far more important things than trying to extort the tax payers to make the real estate guy even richer.
  11. Theres no way this is a serious response. It’s gotta be a weak attempt at satire correct?
  12. This. The guy has made almost all his money on real estate deals. The GRF deal completely fleeced the state and taxpayers but…from a business perspective, it was pure genius. He’s trying to do it again. Hint…so are the Bears.
  13. “Criminal enterprises” hahahahahahahha. Like Jerry totally didn’t extort taxpayers to fund GRF. You’re gonna need a bigger bucket bro. No one tell this clown that Comcast paid $3.4 billion in shareholder dividends and stock buybacks last quarter. Their “reign is coming to an end” though. They are doing better than ever. Almost like they understand business better than the owner of the most futile team in MLB history.
  14. I’m not your fucking “pal.” Got get a other bucket.
  15. YTTV has zero interest in RSNs. No chance this network ends up there.
  16. That is an incredibly difficult read. Coyle seems completely out of touch with the current reality for RSNs and sports broadcasting in general. How many times can you say the words “soon,” “hope,” & “believe” in regards to a network that is already weeks into its launch, 6 games into the NHL season, & days from the NBA regular season? Regardless of what Coyle would have us believe, the Athletic has reported that CHSN was offered the standard deal for RSNs by Comcast. They hope to have OTA in outlying areas “soon.” They hope to reach an agreement with Fubo “soon.” They plan to have an app ready to release “soon.” Coyle “hopes” that start of the NBA season will increase pressure on Xfinity…hint, it won’t. Coyle doesn’t “believe” OTA broadcasting matters to Comcast…hint, it does. The guy is completely incompetent and is the one running the entire network apparently. This happening in the third largest media market in the country for a channel that broadcasts an MLB, NBA, and NHL team is a mind blowing disaster. I honestly don’t know if you could roll out this network more poorly if you were actually trying to tank the project on purpose. Jason is a Harvard Law graduate so he’ll be mortified when this ends up as an HBS case study. As mentioned in the article, there’s already a possibility that limited TV access is affecting in person attendance and revenue. The Hawks and Bulls are both fringe franchises that cannot afford that in the modern NHL and NBA. The Sox are very solidly the second team in the second city, just set the league record for futility, and certainly can’t withstand access limitation to the fan base when Marquee is pretty available on most providers. If this carries on long enough, it could actually affect the franchise valuation of the Sox. Maybe that’s the long game here and Jerry is trying to force a sale, relocation, new stadium, etc but…Comcast could probably take a billion off the franchise value if they want to and, as opposed to Coyle, they are smart enough to know they have that leverage. CHSN really doesn’t have much of a negotiating position here. Studio content? People can easily get that from places like CHGO or barstool on podcasts or YouTube. White Sox games? Marquee and the Cubs are already available, and although existing fans won’t “switch,” new ones will. NBA ratings continue to decrease and the Bulls don’t have a Bona Fide superstar that people will tune in to watch during a middling season. The NHL is still a fringe sport and despite Bedards talent and ceiling, how many people in the Chicago market could actually name him? Theres a reason they haven’t even gotten on Fubo yet. A provider that carries Bein Sports 6 recognizes that this network is simply not that valuable…
  17. He’s not open to selling. It’s a media plant to further threaten to move the Nashville so he can further his attempt to extort the taxpayers for public funding on a new stadium.
  18. Go f*** your own face you cuckold f***.
  19. I live in fucking Washington state. How the f*** exactly is the antenna supposed to work you fucking idiot?
  20. I have talked to multiple people from places like Elgin, Aurora, and Joliet that cannot get the OTA signal. Maybe some of its user error or the codec mentioned above because of their TVs but that’s like the whole point. You know what channel they have zero issue finding on Comcast and Fubo? Marquee. We’ll see what happens with the bankruptcy but an awful lot of people in Central Illinois have zero shot of getting the OTA signal but you know what they do get…the Cardinals and Blues on Bally Sports Midwest. Anyone that thinks that this launch has been anything short of a complete disaster simply isn’t an intelligent human being.
  21. It’s not “bitching to b****.” OTA was applauded because it is a great SECONDARY method of distribution for those that don’t have cable or streaming services. It was assumed that the channel would be available at least on Comcast and a service like Fubo. To date, that is not the case because Jerry is trying to save a few dollars. It’s a dumpster fire and anyone trying to rationalize the launch as acceptable thus far is an enabler that is part of the problem. The completely clown shoes sets, production, and on air talent makes the entire project that much more laughable.
  22. “Who cares what the set looks like?” hahahahahahahshshshshshshah
  23. I’m curious on that too. It seems like an awful lot, especially for a team that broke the all time loss record but I really don’t know since MLB players do move around quite a bit.
