  1. This is insanity. Say what you will about the lack of spending, horribly inaccurate talent evaluation, inability to develop players, training staff that can’t keep players on the field…this type of move is gross incompetence and completely irresponsible roster management. They seriously can’t plan more than two days in advance…
  2. The lineup is pretty consistently close to a zero cumulative WAR so…it would probably be pretty competitive.
  3. They just optioned Bryan Ramos back to Charlotte to make room for Jacob Amaya. HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahshahWhat in the actual f***?
  4. This. How many guys on the 26 man roster are actually MLB players for a contending team? I’d say maybe 5. Garrett Crochet could play for any team in the league. Most teams would take Luis Robert and find him a spot unless they already have an all star CF. Korey Lee could probably be a young depth catcher somewhere but he’s not the primary for a real team right now. Maybe Davis Martin if he can continue his recent performance. I don’t really see anyone else.
  5. Do they cancel Soxfest before or after the last game of the season?
  6. There really is no light at the end of the tunnel. The entire organization has maybe 5 MLB level players.
  7. And what did he get in return for either of them? A 22 year old often injured Single A pitcher, a guy that doesn’t belong in MLB and is worse offensively than Martin Maldonado, and a couple of lottery tickets.
  8. Jerry is rich as s%*# and still seems relatively lucid. Dude might make it to 100 years old. 🤦‍♂️
  9. The issue is…as a horrible defensive 1b, you need to hit the cover off the ball to justify your position on a roster. A .700 OPS isn’t even close.
  10. Yep. MLB will never let the Sox move. The market is simply too large and the Cubs, Brewers, and Cardinals are powerful enough that their owners would block any future expansion into Chicago if the Sox ever left. It’s simply not happening.
  11. It’s getting close to the point that League intervention is almost necessary. They are so bad that they are affecting the competitive balance of the league. Does anyone honestly think three ALC teams should make the post-season? No, but they get to play the White Sox so often that it skews the Wild Card standings.
  12. Do you remember the owner telling us that they promoted Getz without any real GM search or interviews despite a horrendous track record of player development because he knew the organization and could quickly turn it around?
  13. This no one expected a playoff team but…it very well may be the worst roster assembled in MLB history. I don’t care how bad KW and Hahn left the state of the franchise, how horrible of an owner JR is…Getz has missed on almost every single move he has made so far. The 26 man roster has approximately 3 MLB level players on it. Korey Lee, Luis Robert, and Garrett Crochet. Even then, Lee wouldn’t get a lot of time on a true contending team. There are zero MLB players on the field today. Pham was the only move I can really think of that turned out ok but then he essentially gave him away for nothing. There’s zero chance JR would actually fire Getz after one year but if there ever was a situation in which an MLB GM absolutely should be fired within 365 days on the job, this is a poor enough performance to justify it.
  14. Not a single player in the lineup today would play for a contending team. Not one.
  15. It’s insane that there’s an MLB team in 2024 putting out a lineup without a single player over a .700 OPS. Over half of them are actually under .600.
  16. Kopech for the Dodgers so far: 10.1 IP, 0.00 ERA, 1H, 1BB, 15Ks This organization sucks so hard.
  17. Did he actually say this during his post game presser today? Saw it on Twitter, re DeJong in the 3rd. “He had a couple errors, so what?” No fucking way that actually happened right?
  18. Jerry Dipoto, Mariners President of Baseball Operations, gets on Seattle local sports radio every week and, very often, stays on for an additional segment after his scheduled time. The hosts don’t exactly lob softball questions the entire time either. The Sox’ organization is filled with cowards. They know that they are extorting the fan base and are scared to acknowledge it. The media is scared to ask meaningful questions because they know Jerry will ex-communicate them. Top to bottom, the most dysfunctional organization in professional sports.
  19. I’ve gotta say…my favorite was Bryce Miller literally laughing out loud after his 5 pitch 4th inning today. The team is so bad that other professionals are legit laughing at them. That’s like s%*# that happens in Little League when you mercy rule a team. I hope Getz unloads everyone at the TDL so they can lose 125 but I fear that they’ll hold a few players just because the organization think it’s some sort of accomplishment to not lose the most games in league history.
  20. $2bn right now. Assuming it’s 3-5 years from now probably $2.5bn. Jerry seems to be in pretty good shape though and money to pay for medical care helps extend one’s life so I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes it 7+ years. He won’t sell while he’s alive because of the tax implications.
  21. It’s borderline dereliction of duty that Pham is still here. Fedde as well. Those are easy deals. Crochet and Robert are obviously more complicated. I share your concern. I’m mildly worried that he’s going to wait so long trying to get the best return that…a bunch of players just won’t be moved. It’s also very possible that he’s getting pressure to hold a few because a team without Pham, Robert, Crochet, and Fedde is going to be near unwatchable and revenue will plummet even further last few months of the season.
  22. I 100% believe it. Which is disgusting. Dude will have 3y/ <$50m left after this season. That is not even close to a large contract in MLB. Yet JR and this organization are so concerned with pinching Pennies that they’ll negate the player return on guys like Crochet, Robert, or Fedde merely to save a few bucks. A competing organization will 100% take that deal. Let’s say you get Crochet, take on a bad contract less than $50m, and then don’t have to sacrifice any top prospects? Hell yeah. That’s why the Sox are doomed until there’s an ownership change.
