How the F are we ever going to build an offense?
Rusty replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This team and market is a goldmine is you effectively manage the franchise. That’s why all of us are so pissed off. It would not be hard to make them into a perennial contender. Honestly if they spent in FA, they could compete two years from now. But they won’t. -

The fact that teams are even showing minor interest in players like AV, Dejong, Robert, Eloy is very telling. It is a pretty clear indication that other organizations recognize that there are systemic failures within the White Sox and that they can “fix” them in their own organization. Same thing with Kopech getting interest. Dude has an ERA over 5 the last two years but people want him because the talent is there and they believe he’s been mismanaged. Sadly Getz isn’t smart enough to realize that and assess that the Sox’ Development and Coaching staffs suck so the return on anyone will likely be very underwhelming. -
They’ll never re-locate. The league would never approve it and it doesn’t make any sense financially.
-
They cant option Crochet. The MLBPA would 100% call them out for service time manipulation and would absolutely win. The Sox FO and ownership is completely incompetent but not even close to incompetent enough to attempt this.

I honestly dgaf if they move either at this point but MLB will never allow it. Chicago is too big of a media market to not have 2 teams but Cubs, Cards, and Milwaukee have enough influence to block any expansion group if the Sox ever left. Moving the team is a hollow threat to attempt to bend over the taxpayers for funding a new stadium, Thankfully the state called Jerry on his bluff, but you know he’ll try to play that card again when the negotiations come up with ISFA for the GRF terms come up for renewal and he wants to put the citizens over a barrel again for his own financial gain. -
That’s why Jerry is trying to angle for a private stadium. Of course it’ll be taxpayer financed, but a franchise owned stadium…their valuation probably comes close to $2.5bn, likely closer to $3bn. I am near certain that they are purposefully suppressing both “profit” and franchise valuation for tax purposes until Jerry passes and it can be sold by Michael. They might be shitty MLB owners but they are very smart business people.

They are not losing money. Any indication that reports otherwise is easily due to fuzzy accounting. Even if the income statements don’t look great, the team was purchased in 1981 for $19m. The current estimated value is $2bn. That’s a phenomenal ROI for any investor even if you lose money annually. The likelihood is that Jerry and the Sox very likely cook the books with write offs and bonuses for their buddies to show an annual loss. It’ll be even easier once he moves the team to Stadium Network which…he also owns a controlling interest in. The Sox are currently the equivalent of Spirit Airlines, they give zero concern about the “customer experience” provided that the money keeps rolling in. This is a business for Jerry and the ownership group, nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately in professional sports, that’s pretty shitty for the fan base.

Highest ops in the lineup today which…is hilarious. -

I hope they get swept by the Royals. That would be perfect. -
The not trading within the division thing perplexes me. Do they honestly think they are going to compete next season? I mean they might be dumb enough to believe that, but, that would just be exhibit 97 why this is the most incompetent franchise in professional sports from top to bottom.

I hope I’m wrong, but I’m fairly confident Grifol has a job through the end of the season. -
Didn’t realize Paredes doesn’t hit UFA until 2028. I like this deal knowing that. No idea on the prospects they gave up but at face value seems like a good deal for the Cubs.

Sounds like the perfect White Sox player. We could use another DH type.

MLB in a giant media market in a division with a bunch of mediocre smaller market teams. You could pretty easily do it in 2 seasons if you were willing to spend in FA. The sad reality is that you have to trade Robert and Crochet because the owner will never pay them once they hit FA, so even when your prospects hit, it’s rinse and repeat. Just wait until they trade Colson Montgomery 2 years from now. -

MLB would never let them move but, seemingly, the only explanation is that Jerry is actively tanking the organization to facilitate a move. It’s as if he’s actually putting forth effort to piss fans off from almost every aspect. The most redeeming quality of the franchise is some Marshmallow milkshake. Just wait, if Getz is actually able to do his job (questionable) and unload the players he should at the deadline…they’re gonna be really bad. This team without Robert and Crochet has almost zero MLB level talent. If Fedde, Pham, and Delong go too…yikes. They might lose 120 this season. IMO, there’s zero percent chance Getz is fired in the next 3 years, and I believe Pedro will survive at least the remainder of the season, if not longer. -

It’s a message board. The entire point of the entire platform is to post messages on the board. The team is the most dysfunctional organization in professional sports that is going to challenge the MLB record for futility. They are playing a likable team that competes at a higher level despite being in a much smaller market. If you are happy to continue to give Jerry your money. Good for you. -

lol Bryce Miller legit laughing at the Sox and giving his catcher a thumbs up as he is about to get through 4 with a 5 pitch inning. Dude is legit clowning on a professional sports team because everyone is swinging so early in the count. -

I think I’ll be a Mariners fan. I live in Washington so can watch all the games and travel to Seattle a lot. They certainly have their faults but I like a lot of their players, Scott Servais seems like a good dude, and the front office at least makes an attempt even if they have budget constraints. The stadium is pretty awesome too and Seattle is great in the summer. -

It’s wild that Tommy Pham is the best position player on the 2024 White Sox. -

I still think there’s a slight possibility that Jerry pulls the ultimate troll job on the fan base and Pedro is the manager on opening day next season. He’s got at least one year left on his contract and Jerry isn’t the type to pay someone to NOT work. -

That’s the perfect last inning for Crochet to ever have in a White Sox uniform. Almost perfectly encapsulates the state of the organization. -
