Are the umps like way worse this year? I don’t remember it ever being this bad, but haven’t looked up the actual data.

You thought stadium was gonna be bad. The Athletic is now reporting the Standard Media Group has reached an agreement with the Sox, Bulls, and Hawks to take over broadcasting in October. Standard is headquartered in…you guessed it, Nashville TN. Their portofolio of current channels currently is comprised of monster channels in Paducah, KY; New Bedford, MA; and Lincoln NE!

Ok go ahead and pretend that the words heavy rain and standing water literally aren’t in the MLB rulebook. I’m done with this conversation.

No but…the Cardinals have been known to…maybe go on borderline ridiculous runs near the end of the season and if they end up winning the division by a game because of a fluke victory in dogshit conditions then it’s not okay.

The most important fact to draw from his tantrum is that he has near zero understanding of the actual sport. Player side aside, conditions that bad, heavily favor the hitter. Brebbia can lose his grip on a pitch and fire it into the backstop, the ball can skip off wet grass and a routine play becomes much more challenging, an outfielder has a near zero chance on a play at the plate on a single, an infielder can slip in the mud trying to range laterally, a ground ball can hit a puddle and come to a dead stop in the infield. It was 100% in the Sox’ interest to stop the game.

What are the rules? Can they seriously call this game with the bases loaded and 2 strikes left? Hard to see Brebbia coming back so guess it’s Tanner Banks for half an at bat.

I really don’t know how you can still have him on the MLB roster. If Jose Abreu is willing to take some time away to fix himself certainly the Sox can do that with AV.

Let me guess, complete s%*# call and Pedro couldn’t even be bothered to take a step out of the dugout to stand up for his pitcher?

I don’t know why you want AV in the order for…really any reason, but it certainly seems like a better decision would be to take out Grossman and put Gavin in RF and AV at first. Or…just stop tinkering with pinch hitters for the sake of tinkering with pinch hitters.

It’s a pure panic move. I wonder if he’s getting pressure because attendance and ratings are so low that at least they can call up Ramos and sell a handful more tickets. It’s crazy to say less than a year into a GMs tenure but he really should be fired. He assembled a historically bad roster even if he had financial constraints and leftovers from the previous regime. They are literally on pace to be the worst team in league history.

I really don’t see any reason this year why Sosa, Colas, and Korey Lee aren’t essentially every day players. At least then, informed fans would have a reason to watch. No one wants to see Martin Maldonado, Paul DeJong, & Robbie Grossman lose 100 games. At least the guys from the minors are interesting and you see if there’s anything there or move on.

A LL no hitter and shutout today would be awesome.

We all know how this works, he’ll be out for a week so they are playing with a 25 man roster, then they’ll retroactively put him on the IL, then he’ll be lucky to play 30 more games this season.

I think you are actually onto something here. Kopech was a headcase, we all know Eloy is a goof, Giolito was in his own head so badly that he looked physically ill, TA with the baby mama drama, Beni looks completely lackadaisical in the outfield. They just fill a roster with dudes that don’t have the demeanor of a professional athlete and when you lose it spirals out of control quickly. Obviously Abreu is having a disaster of a season but it makes me think about the comments he made after being traded about the environment in the Sox clubhouse. Looking at the current roster, who exactly is the “clubhouse leader.” I don’t think they have one. That’s an even larger issue when your manager is completely inept. Crochet isn’t established enough to do it. Gavin Sheets might fit the bill but he’s a fringe MLB player that these guys aren’t going to listen to. I guess that’s why they brought in Pham but his approach is going to trigger a revolt as they careen towards 120 losses. I bet it gets even worse when they add Clevinger. He does t exactly have a reputation of being a stellar citizen or one to unite people in the locker room.

He’s absolutely a headcase which is another organizational flaw. Not only does their training staff suck at physically keeping players on the field but it appears the team completely discounts mental health. Just look at the TA s%*# from last year. Does anyone really not think that was at least partially caused by his personal relationship drama? Does Eloy act like a professional athlete mentally? A competent sports psychologist could go a long way with this team.

The fact that a 28 year old pitcher is “adding” anything in his 4th major league season after appearing in almost 50 games in your minor league system…probably means that your MLB pitching coach and former Director of Player Development should both be fired. Just saying…

You are part of the problem if you are still supporting this team by giving them money.

Jerry can afford a lot of things. Doesn’t mean he’s going to do it.

They need either a guy looking to just ride out a couple years until retirement or someone like RV that has no long term interest in working as a manager. Francona would make sense but JR is too cheap to pay him. A young guy and up and comer honestly won’t take it because it kills your career future. Pedro will never have the chance to manage another MLB team because of how bad it’s been. He might have to reset at MiLB or some bs position like MLB field coordinator. He won’t even be able to get a job as bench coach or even 1b/3b coach. I’m pretty confident Grifol is here through at least the end of the season since apparently his contract runs through 2025. I don’t even think Montoya would take the job unless you give him enough money and security to ensure that he never has to work again which…Jerry won’t do. If Pedro is fired, I’m not discounting the possibility that TLRs health issues have magically subsided and he gets the interim tag. I wouldn’t mind Ozzie. At least he turns it into a reality show that’s mildly entertaining.
