  1. All things that could’ve been answered at the presser if this were actually a viable plan but it’s not. They are using the city and Johnson as a pawn to leverage Arlington and based on the enthusiasm is his speech yesterday I don’t think he’s intelligent enough to realize it.
  2. “No new taxes” is a disgusting marketing term. It’s a 40 year extension of the existing hotel tax that is currently funding state financing that is $600+ million in the hole still from GRF and the SF renovations.
  3. Jerry is a business person not a fan. He knows that attempting to outspend other teams in an uncapped league is a dangerous proposition, especially as contracts have exploded. He’s a real estate guy so he’s willing to take some short term losses in favor of long returns. He bought the team for $19m in 1981, basically has a free stadium that he keeps all revenue from, hasn’t been bit by huge contracts, and is now valued at approximately $2.1bn. Small year over year losses really don’t matter at this point and are likely due to fuzzy accounting. To Jerry and the investors….theyve got a great ROI. That’s why it’ll never change until he dies and the team is sold. Even when he owns less than 20% the terms of his ownership agreement mean no serious buyer/investor will replace the current groups with a stake because they know they are at his mercy and…he is in pretty good shape for a dude approaching 90 years old.
  4. Vaughn hitting cleanup should be a fireable offense.
  5. I 100% want my favorite team to lose games. I legit root for them to lose every single day. When I check the app and it’s an off day, I’m disappointed because there’s no chance for them to lose that day. Hoping for the inevitable no hitter soon. Ideally against some complete no-namer. If the owner, GM, and manager can all be this careless and incompetent screw it. I feel bad for some of the players but…they’re also the ones making stupid mistakes and the paychecks are still rolling in.
  6. Not only do the other proposed cities make zero sense financially. MLB owners will absolutely block any attempt by the Sox to ever move out of Chicago. Revenue sharing is a thing, Chicago is the 3rd largest media market in the league, and if the Sox ever did leave the Cubs, Milwaukee, and StL would block any future expansion into the market. Zero percent chance the Sox leave regardless of what Jerry wants you to believe.
  7. We know that Eloy is a goof and Yoan isn’t exactly the pinnacle of maximum effort. Crochet is too young to be a leader. Robert doesn’t seem to be that type. AV seems resigned to his fate. Maybe Sheets but he’s a fringe MLB player in any competent organization. I say screw it and sign Bauer. You already have a couple known assholes, at least he would eat innings and make a game entertaining every once in a while. Tell him to start bucking balls over the centerfield wall when he’s pissed.
  8. It’s absolutely a both problem. Let’s be honest, half the roster are not serviceable MLB players. That being said…you can jettison a manager. You can’t just get rid of a bunch of players. Someone needs to be on the field and there’s not exactly a ton of capable dudes sitting in Charlotte or Birmingham. The largest problem is the roster that Getz assembled. At least Korey Lee has a future career to play for but do we honestly think Martin Maldonado cares about much more than cashing checks at this point? Benintendi seems to be the same. I guess at least Clevinger and Pham are known assholes so maybe they manage to come in and establish some sort of culture that at least appears to give a f***.
  9. 100%. If 20ish professional athletes are talking s%*# about their boss…it’s probably a boss problem not a player problem. He’s completely lost the locker-room, otherwise he’d do some Rick Pitino/Deion Sanders s%*# and just start telling the media that the players aren’t good enough and are making stupid mistakes. Problem is, he’s perceptive enough to know that he doesn’t have enough respect to do that without making the problem worse. The owner doesn’t respect him, the GM doesn’t respect him, the players dont respect him, the fans don’t respect him, the media doesn’t respect him. Hell, at this point, I assume his own assistant coaches don’t respect him. It’s very hard to nail down a single thing that Pedro actually does well and people that have made it this far in professional athletics are smart enough to realize how incompetent he is.
  10. They are 100% clowning him in group chats and when he’s not around. It’s a coping mechanism for players when a season/team is going this badly.
  11. They know what base to throw to but they lack focus and are making mental errors. That’s obviously on the players themselves, but it’s also the responsibility of the manager and coaching staff.
  12. Exactly. If a kid did this s%*# in little league, a coach would bench them to at least prove a point.
  13. Apparently more than a few people don’t believe an MLB manager is responsible for anything. Horrible defensive fundamentals, running into outs, a team wide horrendous approach at the plate, laughable pitching staff management…not on Pedro for sure.
  14. Has he come out of the dugout once this season other than routine pitching changes?
  15. What the hell is Sheets bitching about? That’s a strike all day long.
  16. Dude legit having the best game of his career. How many times have we heard that story already in 20ish games?
  17. So what’s the Ofer stat so far tonight with RISP?
  18. I don’t care what anyone says. Call me a bad fan. This is awesome. I hope they get swept. I’m absolutely rooting for 120 losses
  19. Three straight hits with one out, zero runs is about the most 2024 White Sox thing I’ve ever seen. It’s almost even more appropriate than just going down in order.
  20. Didnt Pedro just say he was pitching Friday? What in the actual f*** is this guy doing?
  21. Cannon just piping it middle/middle at 92mph. That doesn’t play too well in MLB.
  22. I love the call on FS1 “right over the middle of the plate and lined…”
