Crochet, Sale, Lopez, Cease in Cy Young races
Rusty replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It would be crazy if…they were all on one team. Imagine how awesome that team would be. It almost certainly wouldn’t break the league record for most losses in a season -
He’s too busy doing laps at the local HS track with two 5 gallon buckets of water while singing Go Go White Sox.

Dudes gotta have yoked forearms. Just farmer carries all day long with two 5 gallon buckets of water. Bet his delts are insane too. 🤣
-
You are correct. The hat is sick.

Robert has under-performed, Crochet will be dealt, Moncada doesn’t want to play the sport anymore, Colas and Sosa both don’t appear to be MLB players, Baldwin has underwhelmed and is now injured, Vargas and Amaya can’t hit or field, Thorpe is going in for surgery on his pitching arm, Montgomery has almost completely regressed. They got near zero in return for Fedde or Kopech and…Oh yeah…and THEYRE ABOUT TO SET THE RECORD FOR MOST LOSSES IN MLB HISTORY! Anyone that finds a single redeeming quality in this franchise right now is delusional and deserves everything they’re about to get for the next 5 years.

Almost five percent of a professional season for a billion dollar sports franchise so yeah…I’d say it’s a lot. Do you want the $40 bucket or is just one of the free ones from Home Depot the best? The $40 one has a locking lid so at least you wouldn’t spill any water.
-
“Replace”? Are you serious? One player was injured and didn’t play for SEVEN CONSECUTIVE GAMES. That isn’t “replace.” It’s filling a void. One would think in a multi-billion dollar professional sports franchise, each one of the 26 available active roster spots is a pretty damn valuable position. I’ve been to Afghanistan multiple times and literally spent years of my life there so you trying to bring that into an argument about the worst baseball team in history….go f*** yourself.

This. It’s literally about to hit the metric as the worst team ever assembled in MLB history. While no one expected them to actually compete…I guarantee Getz, Pedro, and Jerry were convinced they had at least a 60 win team. They’re so incompetent and the team is so bad that they are affecting the competitive balance of the playoffs. Yes, Getz stepped into a bad situation with what was left by KW/Hahn, yes there are significant spending constraints because of ownership. ITS THE WORST TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT.

If anyone needs a gift idea for @WestEddy, this $40 bucket carries water like no other. https://www.amazon.com/YETI-26010000012-Loadout-Bucket-Charcoal/dp/B074QSF5B6

This is comically bad. Multiple people predicted that Baldwin would be IL’d because a wrist injury absolutely can linger for a professional baseball player but instead they played short handed for SEVEN consecutive games. Jerry is either too cheap to pay an extra $4500 gameday check for a callup or the MiLB system is so shallow that they don’t have a player available to call up for the infield. It’s hilarious that the problem is compounded by the fact that they brought up Ramos for a SINGLE day because Amaya wasn’t in town so had to wait 10 days before recalling him. This isn’t even about an inability to assess talent, player development, or execution on the field. This is just gross incompetence with roster management. You don’t even need to be a baseball person to know how to manage the 26 & 40 man rosters. It’s really not hard. It reminds me of when Jerry Angelo forgot to check the box with the Ravens trade. You have to be horrible at your job to be this bad.

Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?
Rusty replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It’s absolutely hilarious that Baldwin misses 7 consecutive games…then they put him on the 10 day IL. -
Reportedly, the White Sox have the smallest analytics department in the league.
-
Day 8 of not putting Brooks Baldwin on the IL to save Jerry $4500 a day.

The massive issue with this organization as long as JR is the owner is that they’d need to pay well over market rate to attract qualified coaches and free agents. For the manager scenario there are three possible outcomes: Massively overpay an actual qualified candidate. Jerry wont do this. Get a qualified candidate that is near retirement and will just coast it out without giving two shits. Hire a young guy that zero other franchises have on their radar and hope to catch lightning in a bottle. Scenario 3 has the highest chance of actual success, albeit low but I bet they go with 2. Get some 65-70 year old MLB lifer to take naps on the bench.

I don’t know man. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt but…Sosa hitting 3rd? Like WTF? I know the roster is bad and he doesn’t have much to work with but, what the hell?
-
This is what worries me. There is near zero visibility of any success on the horizon. The Sox could easily be worse next season. Getz has already stated that payroll will be cut. Personally I expect a figure around $80m. Robert has been disappointing but at least he’s an MLB level player and is their highest WAR position player. If they deal him, they are immediately worse. Almost the exact same with Moncada when they decline his option. If they deal Crochet, Davis Martin is about the only guy that mildly resembles an MLB starting pitcher in the entire rotation. Many of the prospects have regressed so that isn’t much help in the near term. Next year could be very painful.

I thought yesterday’s lineup was bad. Today is pathetic. It’s as if they are actively trying to be no hit. Baltimore is -385 on the ML, that’s the highest I’ve seen for a game in recent memory.

9/1 GT - Mets at Sox (1:10pm CT)
Rusty replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2024 Season in Review
MLB will not allow the team to relocate. Stop. -
I have zero faith in the Sox medical staff and would absolutely trust any random person on the street that doesn’t appear to be on crystal meth more than the training staff. The amount of soft tissue injuries this team has from simple things like running the bases or chasing a fly ball in the outfield, the weird situation like just having Baldwin not play for a week with a wrist injury instead of putting him on the 10 day IL, basically telling Yoan Moncada to come back when you’re ready. As recently as 2 seasons ago 5 players in the active lineup were told to not go “too hard” on the base paths for fear of injury. None of these things are normal in a professional sports organization. Hell they aren’t normal in a semi-serious amateur sports organization.
-
I can’t fucking believe they knew about the bone spur and had him throwing. This makes zero sense. I can’t believe his agent didn’t shut it down. This is literally the most incompetent thing I have heard from this organization and that isn’t exactly a high bar…. This is fucking insane.

But did they ever set the record for most losses in MLB history? They just tied the franchise record with almost a month to go. -

That was awesome. I’m not going to lie. I took great pleasure in the Mets striking out the side as Sox’ players flailed at down and away sliders to end the game. Best game of the season so far IMO. I laughed harder at this over the last three hours vs. any comedy movie that I can remember. -
I got called an asshole but the Mariners are 100% my top team after 35+ years as a Sox fan. They suck too but I live in the PNW so at least I can watch them for free and their owner/GM don’t seem to completely despise the fan base. If anyone is ever out in Seattle, T-Mobile Park is pretty awesome, the area is cool, and they do a good joB with the game day experience.
