  1. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) Why would they start him in A ball if they hope to use him down the stretch? A's did the same thing with Street last year and he should have been in the majors. We'll see Hansen in September barring major suckage.
  2. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) Oh Heads, he's becoming a stalker in front of our very eyes. I'm not a stalker for the simple fact that I have the balls to actually call up the players. Heads is just a pussy, I guess.
  3. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) If they are, I would fire him. he's on the net more than any of us. Get out to the filed and scout. Joke I get paid through players cell phone numbers I guess.
  4. s***, I might as well quit FutureSox now after seeing the plethora of White Sox minor league experts here. I'm surprised that you guys know so much about these players considering you've never seen them. Damn you guys are good. Oh, I'm calling Kris Honel tomorrow to schedule an interview with him, can you guys tell me if he is good or bad? Thanks, I'm indebted to every one of you who knows more than me by being an armchair scout.
  5. This....can't really put into words how f***ing moronic this thread is. I need a few drinks.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) Bronson Arroyo is a pretty solid pitcher who would be pretty good in the NL, imo. Plus they get a prospect. Its not that much different of an offer. However I think they'd consider an offer around Contreras and someone else could intrigue them, but Kenny doesn't want to deal Jose or thats the gist I'm picking up. Arroyo was brought up in the Pirates organization and pitched in the majors there for three years.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) Mackowiak doesn't seem to be doing very well lately. And in case you weren't in chat the other day, Freel has off the field issues. We don't need another righty utility infielder. He's a very streaky hitter and while he would be an upgrade over Crede offensively, he isn't a big presence that would help the lineup. As for Freel, please don't lump him in with Pablo Ozuna. Freel can play anywhere but does this crazy thing called take walks.
  8. The problem is that there really isn't a whole lot on the trade market in terms of players who will significantly upgrade the offense. Mackowiak or Freel would be nice additions, but there needs to be a massive revamping of the infield which KW seems to be afraid of, and I don't really blame him much.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) I could tell you a lot more overrated players on the Sox than Rowand. Juan Uribe, Timo Perez, Paul Konerko, etc etc. Please don't try and tell me that Mr. .761 OPS is not overrated offensively and defensively.
  10. Newsflash: Aaron Rowand is overated, more at 11.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) They are both outfielders and our OF is pretty full. Anderson still strikes out too much and Young has been injured for a while now and can't even run, let alone play. Does that answer your questions? Yeah, those goddamn strikeouts! Completely ignore he's hitting .300/.365/.500. f***ing strikeouts!
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) Compared to our offensive players, it's not even close. Dunn is significantly better than any offensive producer on the Sox. But, but, but he strikes out a lot! He's #20 in all of baseball in VORP. The closest White Sox is #86 at Paul Konerko.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) Ya, he got it earlier this year. He's ridiculously over-rated in my book. Except that his OPS w/ RISP .943. And he's 25. Did I mention his OPS is .968 and he's hitting .246? Adam Dunn is probably the most underrated young outfielders in all of baseball, period.
  14. How can you be late on a 3-1 fastball that you know is coming?
  15. My Mom asked a good question just now, "Has Joey Cora ever seen Paul Konerko run?"
  16. No, Valentin hits more HRs, walks and strikesout more, and has a worse arm but more range.
  17. QUOTE(Chuck's cuz @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) I know EVERYONE! Charlie is pitching tonight! HOORAY! So, click into barons.com sometime tonight and see how he's doing! I'll update everyone Monday when I get home from up north. I think the most important question for Stephanie is... Would he accept the nickname Hägermeister?
  18. Randa and Freel are on the same team. DOES THIS NEED REPEATING?!
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) It's funny, I called Frank selfish about a month ago, and people bashed me. I agree that Frank being out of the lineup probably helps our overall offense. However, we need to do something to bolster our offense. How do we expect to compete with offensive powers like Boston? Team chemistry.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) It's not KW who believes in this chemistry, it's Ozzie. Give me a break, we all know KW has fallen in love with everything Ozzie says and does.
  21. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) We need Wagner and Burnett. I don't care what anyone says, we need them both to do anything in the postseason. You look at the line-ups we might face: Boston, Anaheim and NY. We need two more bullets. I am so angry right now I could care less who we give up. KW won't do anything because he fully believes this chemistry horses*** which keeps people like Vizcaino on the team.
  22. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) anyone else feel like they got punched in the stomach? not really pissed, just extremely dumfounded and dissapoitned I felt my heart drop a little when Crede dropped that ball. I then walked calmly away shaking my head after Ramirez hit that bomb.
  23. Why was Hermanson warming up? Just 'cause? Christ, I need a drink.
