  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Will one poster who's listening post the 1st round as it goes along? I would do it but I'm in the midst of a conference call. Thank you! I'll see what I can do. I'll have a cumulative post after the first round with every pick.
  2. 30 seconds between picks, instead of the customary 1 as per the last few years lol. Shouldn't be too long until the Sox pick.
  3. Naturally the air conditioing guy has to come over right now. lol
  4. I've found that the video feed is horrible due to the people they have on there. I just listen in to the conference call and go from there.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Thank you Mr. Precision Time Wait, I wasn't precise enough, more like 12:14:37. There we go.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) It was not a comparison, it was a description of how Bonds acts based on my interactions with him. Many of YOU should be ashamed of YOURSELVES for the nasty things you say about a person you don't even know. Karma alright.. fear it. God forbid some of us connect the dots here. All Barry does is cry about racism and being a black man, wah wah wah. I'm sick and f***ing tired of Barry playing the race card, or putting his son in an interview, whenever some sort of controversy surrounds him. "I'm just a successful black man, watch me b**** and moan about how Amerikkka is racist!" I hope Barry Bonds never passes the Babe, I hope Barry Bonds never plays baseball again, I hope Barry Bonds is always seen as a f***ing cheater who used steroids knowingly. He's a piece of s*** and will never be half the player that the Babe was.
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) Guys ... just to clarify, coverage on mlb.com starts at 11:30 a.m. CST, but the actual selections don't start until noon CST. The Diamondbacks are expected to make their selection shortly after the top of the hour. So, we should know the White Sox pick by 12:20 or 12:25. Draft moves much faster than that. I'd say by 12:15 we'll know who the Sox have drafted.
  8. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Yeah, I'll be on. I'm setting my alarm as 11:30 is early for me during the summer lol. Just don't call me Danno. No s***, I'm prone to waking up at like 1 PM now.
  9. I've read reports that's he hit 90 MPH...on a slider. That's not fair.
  10. Alright, sounds good as usual.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) I'm so pissed right now. I've backordered the site in case it clears before stuff gets taken care of. I faxed all the proper documents about a week ago and still haven't heard anything back. Now I called and left a message today and shot two more emails to the people and am hoping somehow I can get a response. Once it gets back in my control...its a 24 hr turn around. I'm giddy to get the Wilder interview finished up (and won't do it until I get FS live) plus a hopeful interview with Shaffer after the draft is finished up. Oh and heads will have a nice announcement as well Hopefully its just a matter of a day or two (it sucks big time balls that it won't be up on draft day now...I'm freaking dying without the site). On a sidenote, I'm so freaking pumped for the draft Mike...its gonna be badass. I wish the Sox had more picks though (like last year). Yeah, Heads told me what the announcement was. Everyone here will be thrilled when they hear who we lined up. It's actually the second year in a row we've talked to him, so there's your only hint. Me, you, Dan and whoever should get on IM tomorrow and start divying up the player bios.
  12. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^ That was beautiful. Really. And I've heard some ID speakers (went to a Christian college...). And let me tell you, it makes a lot of sense, if you're a religion, humanities, english, fine arts major. To those of us in the hard sciences it comes off less as science and more as philosophy. Hey now, I'm a German major and it doesn't make sense to me! At least I can use fancy terms like a priori since I've read Kant. Go meaningless major!
  13. Hey Jason, get the damn server resolved to I can pimp FutureSox to Hawk and DJ via e-mail, sheesh.
  14. Then wouldn't ID fall outside the realm of science, as science is mainly geared to a posteriori, or empirical, evidence supporting hypotheses instead of a priori? Just curious to understand ID a little better without turning this thread into an episode of Numb3rs. "I can solve crimes through math!" No, you really can't.
  15. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) In addition to natural selection intelligent design should likewise be taught in our schools. Intelligent design has nothing to do with creationism. It's about explaining creation via the observed mathematics present in life. If the mathematics tend to strongly suggest a central creator for that life then there's nothing wrong with teaching that conclusion as well. As long as the math behind it is sound it should be taught. Intelligent design has EVERYTHING to do with creationism. The founding proponent of ID is to find "signs of intelligence", properties that necessitate design (thanks Wikipedia!). ID is a form of creationism, not some pseudo mathematical bulls***.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) While people tend to go dependent on calculators there is a lot of need for them in school. Idonno what math you were in but in Trig/Pre-Calc... some of the stuff is impossible without calculators. As for a clerk not being able to figure out the math... there is a reason he is a clerk isnt there? You're in for a rude surprise when you take college math courses. I took a 200 level Calculus course and a 100 level finite course without ever once using a calculator. You know all those trig functions and angles and such? You learn to memorize those. Mathematics, including higher level calculus, is entirely possible to do without the aid of a calculator. How do you think they were first discovered?
  17. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) Your right I shouldnt put Baj in with Sanders and Stewart, because Baj's ERA is double then the other two in the majors. Meaux doenst throw fast? WOW since when do you need to throw heat to be a good pitcher? How fast does Buehrle pitch, or what about Maddux, or how about Shingo? Diaz needs improvment, doesnt everyone? if you read what I put, he had success in the pen last year, why not try it again. Jenks has some issues, as I put in my other post, so I dont know what your tring to prove there. I should shut the f*** up??? why is that, because I am right and you dont have anything to prove to me that he can pitch in the Majors??? No, you should shut the f*** up because you're clearly a blowhard pigeonholing Bajenaru as s*** after, I believe, 8 innings in the majors. If you had any brain activity going for you, you'd see that Bajenaru has held his minor league ERA for the past two seasons essentially under 2.00, an impressive feat for anyone. If it were up to you, Brendan Donnelly would have never succeeded because he sucked so f***ing much for a long time until he made some adjustments. Bajenaru is only a few years removed from Tommy John and is putting up better numbers than he did before the surgery, which is very common. I'm surprised you even know about Meaux, but then again you probably just found out about him this year and think his ERA merits a promotion. Ignore the fact that he was shelled last year, and I can't really name that many LOOGYs who don't have the strikeout numbers and h/9 that Meaux has. If Meaux has a .287 OBA, could you imagine what it would be in the bigs? And once again, you're making absolutely moronic comparisons of Meaux to Buehrle and Maddux, both of whom can hit 90 if they tried. Meaux can barely hit the mid 80s, so once again you just come off as ignorant when you're throwing names around. Diaz is coming off an injury and yet you're saying he merits more attention than Bajenaru? Real display of intellect there. Same with saying Sanders, who amassed a might fine 6 ERA last year and Stewart, a oft tossing lefty who doesn't have pinpoint control, over a power reliever when a good portion of the bullpen is prone to falter.
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2077547 It's confirmed.
  19. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) If the draft has started, can you guys update some of the selections? I'm really quite confused. Draft starts tomorrow, and I'll be posting in this thread the picks of the White Sox.
  20. Page 2 article THis is absolutely amazing, definitely have to hand it to this guy for doing what he's doing. I sincerely hopes he gets to Wrigley on time and raises the 250k, enjoying everything when he's finally done.
  21. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) First, all of you people need to realize that Shingo is a very good pitcher, he just needs to pitch on a more consistant baises. He has had 2 bad outings this year, other then that his ERA has been close to 2.50, which is great for a RP. Everyone loved Shingo last year, and now that he started slow, everyone hates him. He started s***ty last year as well, and finshed 2nd in the ROY voting. So just lay off Shingo, because he is the least of the White Sox worries this year. All of you people need to stop getting f***en hard over Baj. He isnt that good. He sucked last year when he came up, and he will suck balls again. If he was really THAT good, dont you think they would have brought him up over Walker? The only reason that you guys want him to be called up is because he posts on this f***en site. Thats it. WOW I post on this site, and throw 85+MPH, why doesnt everyone want me on the Sox. You dont cuz I am not good enough, just like Baj isnt good enough. The Sox have better options to bring up if they need another arm in the pen. These options include: Felix Diaz: He preformed great out of the pen in 04, sucked as a starter, but not out of the pen Bobby Jenks: This kid throws HEAT. has good stuff. They only draw-back is his attitude, but Ozzie will not take his attitude and will straighten him up. Sean Tracy: Impressed me in the Spring, and is doing good in the minors. Josh Stewart, Dave Sanders, Corwin Malone, Ryan Meaux, Paulino Reynoso are also players that should get consideration to be called up if we think Baj should be called up. You obviously know nothing about the minors, especially if you're lumping Bajenaru in with Sanders and Stewart. Malone is giving up far too many hits per 9, but he's coming back from elbow surgery last year. Meaux is a soft tosser who will get his brains beat in in the majors. Doesn't strike out enough people and gives up too many hits, throws 85 tops. Reynoso walks more men than Damaso Marte. Felix Diaz needs to hone is slider more, as it's a joke of a pitch. The thing barely moves, and his changeup isn't a plus pitch by any stretch of the imagination. Jenks probably won't sniff the majors due to precautionary reasons due to his attitude. Tracey is a starter and still walks too many people, he's still a year off. You're flat out ignorant on Bajenaru and you should just shut the f*** up about him. It's not only that he posts here, but look at his numbers. He's got a 1 ERA pitching in a bandbox, but you've probably never been there to understand how small Knights Stadium is. You're critiquing him on such a small sample space, and I can probably assure you that Baj could put up better numbers than Shingo given the chance to pitch in the bigs.
  22. As always, I'll be sitting in front of my computer for the entire day and posting who the Sox picked, etc. Then after the draft, time for the FutureSox gang and I to start cracking on player bios. Shoot me now.
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Anyone else think that Gio's season this year could be a carbon copy of B-Mac's from last year? No, there's a major trend of lefties absolutely chewing up the low minors for some reason. I can't explain it, but a lot of them falme out pretty quickly. But then again, they rarely average 13Ks/9.
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) I thought I'd' heard that he was back up to the mid-90s...? Anyways, if Zimmerman somehow falls to #15, they must take him. Must. What point of Ryan Zimmerman will not last past the 4th pick do you not understand? He's going to the Nationals, end of story.
