  1. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 15, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) I meant nishioka instead of shimizu for the first part. Point still stands that shimizu will most likely go to the padres. They have had interest in him for quote a while now. Then would it make any sense for Shimizu to indicate that he'd like to join the White Sox? Even if he wants to, it won't happen. Garland, Buehrle, Hernandez and Garcia are locked up, and when Contreras is shipped out, McCarthy will fill his rol (assuming he isn't traded).
  2. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ May 12, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) 21, Binghamton, NY (near Syracuse)...Junior in college majoring in Statistics and History...originally a Yankee fan until I moved to Germany, at which point I strangely became a White Sox fan and now hate the Yankees Odd, where in Germany? Just curious because I have my sights set on Freiburg for overseas studies from September 2006 to July 2007.
  3. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statisti...pitcher2005.php http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statisti...pitcher2004.php I don't agree that high pitch counts are contributing to Buehrle's decline, rather he just isn't a defacto ace. Is he a solid #2 starter? YES! Is there anything wrong with that? No! If people start viewing Buehrle as "merely" a #2 starter, they'd be delighted rather than pessimistic.
  4. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ May 13, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) And, yes, Rush is a moron. I'll take Sean Hannity over him any day. ...I fail to see the increase in intellect.
  5. I'll most likely be sitting in the upper deck, so I'll just throw s*** down on you, witesoxin'.
  6. Whoever is going to the urinal should pelt Zambrano with bottles of Zoloft.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 13, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) I'm finally getting my ass out to the park tonight. As a result, I'm getting fired from my job, so I don't want to hear people b**** about this guy not going to enough games. The rain better stay away, but as long as they get the game in I'll be happy. I'll be there as well, hoping that they somehow get the game in. Rain is apparently supposed to clear around 9.
  8. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 12, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) I've just finished reading the whole article. "If the West went to war to stop Hitler from dominating Eastern and Central Europe, and Eastern and Central Europe ended up under a tyranny even more odious, as Bush implies, did Western civilization win the war?" He's got a point with that. FDR and Churchill did sell these people out to Stalin. It's hypothetical. If Hitler did in fact defeat Russia and take Prussia as well as Russia, the entire Slavic race would become a race of Untermensch, or slaves, and eventually purged from the Earth. Buchanan needs to read the Cliff Notes version of Mein Kampf (doesn't exist, just a term) to understand what Hitler would have done if he held power there. Just look at Byelorussia as a prime example of what the future would have held.
  9. Einstürzende Neubauten It translates into Collapsing Newbuildings.
  10. Since it's understood that it's going to rain all day tomorrow, what's the chance of calling the game early? A friend and I are driving to The Cell tomorrow (she bought the tickets last night, sigh) and I'd love to avoid the parking and tolls if the game is going to be cancelled. Common sense would usually play into factor here, but it is her birthday so I don't mind going out of the way a little bit. Do they call the game before the first pitch? I'd have to imagine so some times, but we all know how odd meterology can be.
  11. Let's be all professional looking and do a conference call...
  12. I'll be 20 in 7 days, was born in Palos Heights, and currently reside in Valparaiso, IN and Bloomington, IN.
  13. I've said for a while that the current outfield situation is going to to lead to Anderson being dealt, and I stand by that. Of course, I'd love to just flip Rowand off for Wagner, but Anderson's upside is so much higher than Rowand's. On the idea of getting Wagner, I'd love it, and you're getting arguably the most dominant reliever in all of baseball when healthy. He's only 33 and can still hit triple digits, and is limiting batters to an under .200 clip. If, in July, we need Wagner, go get him.
  14. This thread, and Juggernaut's posts, are devoid of any reason whatsoever and are merely fantasy league trades. With the Cubs several games under .500, and the main problem of their team being their starting pitching and injuries, why the hell would the Cubs trade an excellent 1B who is locked up for several years in exchange for a somewhat flukey closer and a streaky 1B who will be a free agent? This trade makes sense only for the White Sox and no sense whatsoever for the Cubs. This is merely a wet dream fantasy league trade and nothing more.
  15. Just a hunch, but Buehrle won't come close to winning a Cy Young with Johan Santana in the American League. That and Buehrle is not an ace pitcher and you don't win Cy Youngs with ERAs like 4.14, 3.89 or even 3.58.

If only hairdos would increase intelligence and singing abilities...
  17. For everyone saying that we need another lefty in the pen, we have one and his name is Luis Vizcaino. Last year he limited LHB to a sub .200 average, and while he has had his struggles against lefties this year (attributed mostly to the Cleveland game), he's better than Kevin Walker who should be pitching BP somewhere.
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2054265 I'll be honest, I wrote this guy off for good. I'm very glad he's back, and hopefully he can become a stud pitcher and put his past far behind him. I advocated drafting this guy at 15 instead of Brian Anderson, how wrong was I?
  19. Konerko took a hanger down the middle and then weakly fouled off another one in his wheelhouse. Bench him already.
  20. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) How does this effect Burke's status as far as options and that stuff? He has none, and will be put through waivers when Willie returns.
  21. No soldier ever expects motorcycles on the battlefield, duh.
  22. The Sox organization has to be very cautious when it comes to Garland and not make the same mistake that they did by resigning Rowand. Garland is only five starts into the season and we all know anything could happen in the remained of his 27 starts. Garland hasn't had a track record for doing fantastic at the big league level, and it is Garland's contract year after all. I'd shy away from throwing any money at Jon for the forseeable future.

    Cousins Wed....

I think the only way this could get more hickish is if they left the altar in the General Lee blaring Lynyrd Skynyrd while wearing Confederate uniforms.
  24. Either the person who published the article screwed up, or he made a tie for 2nd. Let's think beyond a first grade level.
