  1. I'm still highly skeptical of both Hernandez and Lucy. Lucy should have hit much better at Great Falls and a BA straddling the Mendoza line is a huge disappointment. Hernandez hit well in the Apyy League, a notorious hitter's league, but did not draw enough walks. As he moves up the ladder, and assuming he doesn't improve with plate discipline, his average will slowly plummet. It's far too early to compare Hernandez to a far superior Victor Martinez after only one year,
  2. Needs more G.G. Aliin, damnit. f***ing hysterical.

Nineteen hundred and forty-six. Nineteen forty-six, Mandrake. How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works.

I'm inbetween on picking up Strangelove with some of the cash that was fallen my way. f***ing love that movie.
  5. I love to see mindless Illini fans thrash Duke when the Illini themselves are playing one of the easier schedules in all of college basketball. At Arkansas, Georgetown, Missouri, and a bunch of weak Big 10 teams besides Iowa and Michigan State? Stop slamming Duke for winning easily winnable games that the Illini have done the same. I guarantee that if Illinois played AT Wake Forest it would be a completely different outcome.
  6. Awful signing by the Cards. Signing a guy to a 3 year, 10.25 million dollar deal is just insane for someone who couldn't even break an OPS of .700. I'd "settle" for Cairo or Cora.
  7. It is beyond laughable if you believe that Bonds unknowingly used steroids. My Dad is 50 years of age, I have numerous Uncles are roughly that same age and their heads don't look like a deformed watermelon. If you honestly believe that human being's heads (circum) grow 2 full inches in the span of one to three years, you honestly need to take a course on anthropology. But I'm sure that those maple bats and the fact that Barry is black makes him jump over 30 home runs in one season. But yet again, this is probably just someone who fails to look at an obvious situation objectively to reinforce an ignorant schema. I'm sure the thousands of doctors who would say beyond a shadow of a doubt are wrong that Bonds unknwoingly used steroids. You make out Bonds to be less intelligent than a retarded man.
  8. My computer as of right now is playing: Explosions in the Sky - Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever Planning on buying: Efterklang - Tripper M83 - Before the Dawn Heals Us (January 25, omgomgomgomg)
  9. I have the same worries about Sweeney, but I don't agree with putting him at #7. Sweeney still has some swing issues to iron out, but he'll be fine in the long run. I'm still worried about his lack of power, but since he's only 19, I don't worry much. My top 10 looks like this: 1) McCarthy 2) Sweeney 3) Anderson 4) Gonzalez 5) Young 6) Fields 7) Tracey 8) Hernandez 9) Honel 10) Whisler I was tempted to throw Liotta up there, but I'm weary of anyone in rookie or short-season ball, Hernandez included.
  10. My spring break is from the 12th-20th. If I go, I'm planning on seeing games on the 13th, 15th and 18th.
  11. See, I knew Alex would come around eventually! Aboz, you heading to ST again this year? Maybe I'll actually recognize you for once...
  12. I'm still skeptical. Rowand's OBP from year-to-year goes like this: .385 .298 .327 .361 Drew 30 walks in roughly 500 PAs last year, he's a prime candidate to revert back to form of a 750 OPS guy. The Sox are smart to signing him to only a one year deal.
  13. When Royce Clayton signed with Arizona, they said something to the effect of: "Clayton will assume to make outs in the 8th spot in Arizona's lineup."
  14. Jeckle: stop eating paint thinner. If you honestly believe, and I'm being dead serious here, that Jon Garland, the same Jon Garland that who gave up an OPS of .783, a WHIP of close to 1.4, gave more hits than innings pitched, 34 home runs, and an ERA of 4.89, then you may be swimming in the short gene pool. He has consistantly gotten worse, but that's assuming you can actually read stats which I severely doubt after you say Jon Garland is 10x better than Javier Vazquez. Look at Vazquez' stats over the past four years. Last year was clearly an abberation. From 2001-2003 his ERA reads: 3.42, 3.92, 3.24. He had roughly 10K/IP in 2003. Yes, he had ONE bad year, last year. But you're willing to keep a guy who is progressively getting worse instead of a guy who almost won the Cy Young two years ago. With any intelligence you sometimes display, you just back it up by posting this ignorant drivel that comes out like it's from an uninformed fanboy who couldn't seperate a bar of gold from a pile of s***.
  15. Well said, Juggernaut. As for the El Duque rumor, I cannot believe you people are complaining about a guy who has a career ERA under 4 and put up stellar numbers. Oh, and by the way, his home park was Yankee stadium...barely 300 down the lines. I like this signing a lot.
  16. Their version of "Keep on Rockin' In The Free World". Love it.

  19. I'd consider Pollok a fringe prospect, Wasserman not much of a prospect.
  20. Dwayne Pollok was a draftee of the Sox in the 2003 draft out of Texas A&M . He posted some nice stats at Winston-Salem and does have a future in the bigs if he continues his current progression. He can throw a mid 90s fastball, 95 MPH tops if I remember correctly, and a power slider. Good control. Wasserman was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Samford Univeristy after he called to schedule a tryout. Doesn't throw overly hard, I'm unsure of what he throws.
  21. Since Oakland is definitely in a rebuilding mode, Beane acquired a hell of a guy in Barton. Barton will obviously be moved to a corner OF position, and Beane has Suzuki and Powell waiting in the wings after Kendall moves on. With an outfield of Byrnes, Kotsay and Swisher, the A's have one hell of a defensive outfield and one that can get on base at will. At catcher they are obviously set with Kendall, and an infield of Hatteberg, Ginter, Crosby and Chavez is good. Add Durazo at the DH and this is a perfect Billyball lineup: one of high OBP's and good hitters. And now a rotation of a Zito, Harden, Haren, Blanton and possibly Meyer seems to be one of a VERY high upside. For everyone who ignorantly slam Beane because they just don't understand what's he doing, he's building far down the road and is amassing a lot of good, solid pieces for the A's future. I'm very high on Barton and I'm not surprised Beane wanted him. The A's are definitely going to be an interesting team to watch next year, and while I think they're probably a few years off from contending, they'll be scary if Billyball does actually work.
  22. You get to use calculators? Stop b****ing I just took my Calc I final yesterday, I'm getting the grade back on Monday (sup 1/3 of my grade...).
