  1. Stupid play by Leyland. Take the bat away from your best player and force Fielder to face a pitcher who has been mowing down lefties.
  2. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Does anyone else resent that Fister has turned into such a stellar pitcher since the Tigers acquired him last year? He was a number 5 type in Seattle, then boom! Different guy. I thought he would be utter trash with the Tigers infield D. Boy was I wrong.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) The post before I mentioned his major league numbers, and you waved them away like it didn't matter. They prove he has sucked massively at the major league level. Worse than anything Gordo or Dayan have done, by far. No, I said more recent performance was more telling than a sample size that happened five years ago. Until your last post your argument was "He sucks." Also, oWAR would disagree with you that Dan Johnson is worse than Beckham and Viciedo by far. But you probably know better.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) When KW gave his intellect comments, most of us assumed he meant the Sox should try bunting a little bit Cabrera's way. Have they done that at all so far this series? I think DeAza and Pierzynski tried last night. Nothing tonight.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) Why are Johnson's major league numbers vs. RHP insignificant, but his minor league numbers what you should look at? Last I looked Fister is a major league pitcher, not Jeff Marquez. I said that in my prior post. The last decent sample size was five years ago. More recent data is more valuable when predicting something. But if you want to say, "Hey, it was in AAA" you definitely can, and I get it. It's a very legitimate point, and trust me, I'm not just writing it off.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) And the opinions of the 30 MLB GMs who refused to offer him a major league job this year. Dan Johnson is the epitome of the back up quarterback syndrome. Did anyone say he should have been given a major league job? No, no one did. I'm saying that having Johnson start over Viciedo against Fister leads to a better probability of success. I posted that LH batters have a much higher BA against Fister (55 pts) and noted that Johnson has been mighty good against RHP the past several years, albeit in AAA. You just said he sucked. That's great and informative.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) Johnson is worse. Thanks for your opinion.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) And if you look at his major league stats, the guy f***ing sucks. By that impeccable logic Gordon Beckham f***ing sucks, as does Dayan Viciedo against right handed pitching.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 06:33 PM) Its not like Dan Johnson mashes RHP. If you look at his career splits, its about as equal as you would get vs. lefties and righties. Except no: http://mlsplits.drivelinebaseball.com/mlsp...ayerinfo/430681 (up to and incl 2010) http://minorleaguecentral.com/player?pid=4...&split=2011 (2011) http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?p...&pid=430681 (2012) Dan Johnson's last decent sample size in the major leagues was 2007. I'd much rather use more current data before leaping to that conclusion.
