  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) Wait a minute. You just said the Sox were struggling going into the Detroit series. fathom just destroyed you and now you're saying that was then? lmao. You're killing me. I loved his quote asking Tex if he wanted to take it from here. Take all the bulls*** away from the post and I read, "Well, fathom just destroyed me, anyone want to cover my ass while I get the hell out of here?"
  2. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:37 AM) How important is the X% that the manager can control. The GM hands him players and a strategy. First, the manager controls the use of the bullpen, the order of the lineup, benching or starting players and in game strategies. To imply that X is a small percentage is unbelievably ignorant. Second, in this organization we have no clue what the overall strategy of the team is. KW will get his way one year (Dunn) and Ozzie will get his way another year (insert any s***ty grinder player here).
  3. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) It's all a crapshoot. A manager is generally only as good as the players perform. Did Joe Torre, who had 1 first place finish in his first 15 years as a manager, become an infinitely better manager when he became the Yankees boss? Or were his players better? Is Ron Gardenhire a bad manager this year? I'm not saying those guys are bad candidates but I don't expect the Sox to be any better if Rios and Dunn are on the team and performing like they did this year. This is what I don't get about all of the Ozzie supporters. All of you are more or less saying that the manager doesn't matter but you will perform some incredible mental gymnastics to defend Ozzie. Look, you can't have it both ways. Either Ozzie deserves some accountability and actually influences the outcome of the game or we should hire a traffic cone to be manager.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 02:48 AM) So Ian Gac wins the MVP, and Andy Wilkin's #s are not to far off. I think my AAP was a success this year! If he didn't have his adjustment period in the first half he would have merited consideration. For now he deserves a well earned promotion to Birmingham. Along with Saladino. Enjoy it, JPN.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) He is actually giving his thoughts as to how to fix the 2012 Sox, and they actually make some sense. I usually expect 100% nonsense from Cowley but some of his ideas actually make some modicum of sense.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:40 PM) The farm needs to be restocked. Worry about trades and such later. And if Ozzie and/or KW is gone you might see a different philosophy, anyway. Not with Reinsdorf's stinginess when it comes to the draft.
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:37 PM) I'm not sure that's a win, win situation either. I heard on the radio where a person said the Sox basically draft for making trades anyway. There's always potential for getting another Brain Anderson, Josh Fields, Brent Morel. IF they happen to be successful, well...Walker will fix them. Beckham and Sale disprove that.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) Wow. You honestly think there's a sliver of hope and we'll make the playoffs? Are you posting from a mental ward? The only sliver of hope we have left is if the Tigers team charter f***ing explodes.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) I'm pretty sure we've heard the last of the constant Tiger updates from Hawk for the season. No way. This is the same person who argues with PitchTrax. Hawk will keep it up until the Sox are mathematically eliminated.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) Oz detractors use everything and anything to back their point. Some people said recently he throws his players under the bus. Yeah, right. He hasn't said a bad thing about Dunn all year. He hasn't even ripped Rios publicly. He didn't say a peep about Matt Thornton's lousiness in April and he never threw Juan under the bus for botching a couple fly balls in April. I don't think he throws his players under the bus. He's great at deflecting blame from the team's failures (sans Dunn, he can't do anything about that), but he seems to do a piss poor job of 1) preparing his players and 2) in game managing. His playing of favorites doesn't help either.
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) You're wrong. I never respected your opinion on this board anyway. That almost hurts.
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Absolutely. It's as much if not more of a trait of KW teams as it is Guillen's. Oh God. f***ing shut up already. You hump Ozzie's leg better than Cowley could ever dream of.
  13. Pathetic performance by a pathetic organization. f*** compensation by Florida, Ozzie needs to be fired tomorrow. I've got a sick feeling that nothing will change next year and we'll have the same dumbs*** manager, the same moronic hitting coach, the same myopic GM and the same ballless owner. Things need to change right now.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 06:11 AM) Definitely top 10 on my personal list. Me and Cerb are in agreement he is probably the biggest sleeper in the system currently. He struggled a lot in his first half in W-S, which really wasn't surprising considering his jump from Rookie ball. He's been very good in the 2nd half and I'm cautiously optimistic. Man, Saladino has been on a tear lately.
  15. Lindsay has a big arm but has no idea where the ball is going. Good curve, good fastball. Hopefully a month with Coop can get him to repeat his mechanics better.
  16. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 05:32 AM) Being a tactician is ,in my opinion, so overrated. The key part about being a manager is managing the clubhouse. Just because a guy can make a double switch doesn't mean he's a good manager. I think OG does a great job in the clubhouse. He keeps the heat off the players and let's them play the game. Other than some lapses by Rios, the team plays the game the right way. They just need to execute better. What in God's name are you smoking?
  17. QUOTE (OilCan @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 11:19 PM) Daniel Black has 62 extra base hits this year, and is 7 RBI away from 100 for the year. Impressive. Also hitting .355 for August, .311 since the All Star break. Wishing he was in W/S right now but since Kanny is chasing the 2nd half crown, understandable. But Black is 24 and will need to be challenged to High A/AA next year in order to stay a prospect. He's not a prospect by any stretch. Organizational filler.
  18. Has to be referring to Short and Marrero. There's no one else.
  19. Charlotte loses in 13 http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...chraaa_gwiaaa_1 Leesman on the hill for Bham http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...biraax_hunaax_1 The ball must look as big as the moon for Saladino right now. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...wswafa_salafa_1 Trayce with an XBH already for Kanny http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...kanafx_augafx_1 Bristol getting pummeled http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...elirok_brirok_1 Great Falls later tonight
  20. Another double (and walk) tonight for Tyler. Last 10 games slash line of .526/.571/.947 That. Is. Stupid.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) Jose Tabata extended by the Pirates with a 6 year $14.75 mil deal, with 3 option years that could lock him up until 2019. Decent risk for the Pirates, but I really like this deal.
  22. Saladino a double shy of the cycle. In ~350 ABs he has 43 XBH. If he cuts down on his K totals just a bit...watch out.
  23. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 05:21 PM) Wilkins has been very good as well. Love his patience. Won't turn 23 till September so he isn't too old at that level. He's been very good his last 200 ABs or so. He needs to show consistent power going forward but he's a sleeper.
  24. Gwinett @ Charlotte http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...gwiaaa_chraaa_1 Good start for Axelrod, Viciedo with two dingers (18 and 19) Birmingham @ Huntsville - Doyle starting http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...biraax_hunaax_1 Winston-Salem @ Potomac http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...wswafa_potafa_1 Every starter with a hit. Saladino with 2 3Bs and a HR, his 16th of the year. Kannapolis - http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...hagafx_kanafx_1 Bristol http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...prirok_brirok_1 Great Falls http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...grfrok_idarok_1
