  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 10:11 PM) That's exactly what I'm saying. This team has no history of bouncing back from devastating losses such as these. You really should troll elsewhere.
  2. Oney floated this rumor last year. It's bulls*** and he's probably just doing it again, anonymously this time, to take shots at the organization.
  3. this might have been posted already, but... Sickels: 1-47) White Sox: Keenyn Walker, OF, Central Arizona JC: Blazing speed and greatly improved hitting skills, along with a solid glove, push him to the top of the White Sox draft list. I like Walker a LOT and he was on my list of players who could go earlier than expected. He's got some risk, but the reward could be huge.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) Law's profile for Walker........ Summary : Walker is an 80 runner on the 20-80 scouting scale, and one of the fastest runners in the draft this year. He's consistently timed at less than four seconds from home to first, and that speed could eventually translate into outfield range although it doesn't yet. His routes are not good and the swings from both sides need a lot of help, with a real tendency to get his hands out front and make weak contact when he makes contact at all. His plate discipline also isn't strong. However, he's a special kind of athlete that we rarely find in the baseball draft and will still go in the top few rounds despite the flaws. So we just drafted Juan Pierre 2.0? Law just admitted that he has never seen him, yet still puts this garbage out.
  5. "I'm Keith Law. I've never seen this guy but I know he sucks. Follow my twitter feed so I can act like a smug asshole and tell you how I'm rereading Odysseus for the 10th time. Oh, you're a dumbass."
  6. Hooray, Law already s***ting all over the pick: Never went to see him. Plays an hour from my house. + Run. Bat LONG way off. RT @NateRittenberry: @keithlaw did you even scout walker?
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) Anyone know if his league uses wood bats? That could be an interesting storyline. 99% positive the league does. Heads, you bastard.
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 09:52 PM) He nailed it. Yeah, wow. To a T.
  9. Struck out once every five times....in Junior College. Oh boy.
  10. BA sez: CHW – Keenyn Walker, of, AZ JC – Drafted twice already, switch-hitting center fielder finally turning tools into performance.
  11. High School catchers in the first round...not a good idea.
  12. Danks has been throwing it over the plate and daring the Mariners to not suck. The Mariners offense has sucked.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) This is true. But everything else you mentioned is pretty much spot on. If Jim Bowden was still the GM I'd say Washington is f***ed either way.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) They have? They've had good players. Strasburg showed me enough last year to come to the conclusion that IF he's healthy he's extraterrestrial. Harper? C'mon now. I know it's easy to say no prospect is a lock. But he's as close to a lock as it gets. And the sell-out will enable them to supplement the superstar talent. Assuming Washington gets sellouts and has wheelbarrows full of cash money, they still have to make the correct free agent signings. That is not a given.
  15. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) I like Cron plenty. All he can do is hit though. Eh, if he can field, his impressive slowness will be less noticeable. Also, oh my god, someone gag Harold Reynolds. Intellectual Chernobyl right now.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Marlins? lol. Florida is a terrible sports state outside of college football. Washington is not. You're honestly going to tell me in Strasburg an Harper that they don't have the potential to sell-out every night? My point is that you can have great players and still have a bad team. The Cubs have had great players, sucked, and still sold out games. Having sell outs doesn't lead to you having a great team.
  17. Hawk already playing the "pitcher is amazing, what can we do?" card.
  18. I don't care how good Jack Wilson's D is, he should not be a major leaguer unless he's making the league minimum.
  19. Carlos hit a flyball deep to LF, which the LF had in his glove until he fell on his ass. Ball popped out and Juan couldn't decide what to do.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) Hey, he said $20 million. I didn't say they'd stay dirt cheap until then. And if they are as good as they would have to be to command that much in arbitration, that would mean they were pretty much selling out every night. No, it doesn't. You can have two or three great players and still suck. Insert a Cubs joke...now. Or a Marlins joke.
  21. At which point Werth is still under contract. Edit: Oops, he's signed THROUGH 2017.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) I totally understand why they did it, it's the same move as the Tigers making in 2004/2005 when they signed IRoid and Ordonez to try to get back some respectability. But they might wind up in trouble even if that team somehow suddenly can afford a $120 million salary. Let's assume Harper, Zimmerman, and Strasburg are all great. Harper and Strasburg could probably ask for, and get, $20 million a year if they live up to the hype. Then that Werth contract is really bad. There's no good excuse for that contract.
