Fan interference. Kick that f***ing idiot out of the game. -
Well, Hoffman can aim for 600 or get a shot at a WS title. He'll probably retire at the end of the year.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) And he'd kick your ass for calling him a stupid human being if he saw you on the street. Ah, yes, the typical senile old man post. Yes, greg, I'm terribly afraid that 5'11 slap hitting ex-MLB player in his late 40s would viciously beat the s*** out of me. Greg, you're a wonderful poster because your posts, without fail, always reach a level of pure, crystallized stupidity and ignorance that one simply has to admire. Someone who calls a well known journalist a homophobic slur is not a smart person. Someone who criticizes his indirect source of income by telling them to go f*** themselves and to not spend money on his team is not a smart person. Someone who lets his spoiled brat of a kid badmouth his boss is not a smart person. While I don't expect to have a conversation with Ozzie about Kant's categorical imperative, I would expect Ozzie to rise above his current conversational level, which can only be described as Highlights for Kids with profanities.
-
Looks like Ozzie controls his family as good as he manages the Sox. Hopefully he blurts out another sexual/racial epithet and we can just fire him. He's a stupid human being who shouldn't hold a management position for the rest of his life.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) Just because something is arbitrary doesn't mean that it's not useful. No, because to you close is something different from what I think. You absolutely cannot use such crap analysis as a linchpin to your argument unless you know absolutely nothing about statistics. If you're dumb enough to trot out such tripe you deserve to be called out on your ignorance.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 05:21 PM) To be fair though...the idea of an arbitrary "close call" is something that a statistics guy should criticize, but that doesn't mean it's not something that could be judged by a guy who knows the game some. No, it's completely arbitrary and thus bulls***. You can't roll out a statistical survey and have your big headline be something arbitrary. It's something Chad at State U. will eat up because he doesn't know any better.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) Actually, ESPN did a study during a 2 week period, and then discovered that umpires made the right call only 66% of the time. They reviewed every close call of all the games over that 2 weeks. It was like 184 games or something. Nope, sorry. Unfortunately ESPN can't do statistical analysis if the company depended on it. Here's the low down from a person who actually understands statistics instead of a bunch of brodogs at Bristol who just REALLY LOVE SPORTS: http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2010/08/esp...blows-call.html

Linebrink? What the f***?

The hitting approach to this team is ABYSMAL.

Gordon!

Ozzie must be trying to lose this game. 3rd inning for Jenks? What the f***? And now Jackson up in the pen. Bizzaro world.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Yes with man on in eighth and none out, why not bunt him over? Then you have 2 chances for clutch hit. Because percentage wise a runner will score from from first w/ none out more often than a runner at second with one out. Look, you can keep sucking Ozzie's knob but we're going to keep calling you out for your idiocy.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) My stance is I love Ozzie, but hope you guys get your new manager so we can have a revolving door of managers in the future. So basically you're willfully ignorant. Great to know. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 10:25 PM) It's sad what we have to show for the 5 big trades we've made in last two years. Who would have thought Pierre would be the best trade? Good point. It's really impressive that Juan has put up a .350 OBP when that includes the first month of the season where he did almost nothing. -

QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 09:41 PM) My post was baseball stupid anyway, and I deleted it. I forgot, in the 101 mph pitch glory, that Sale has the Prior-Strasburg delivery, and I said that Strasburg was going to blow out his arm within the first 2 years of him starting, and by the accounts posted from member of WSI who watched the Nationals game, Strasburg was removed from the game after throwing a pitch holding his elbow in severe pain. If Sale really throws 100 mph, he'll blow out his elbow too. We might be better off using Sale as trade bait after he's proven he can get major league hitters out as a starter for half a season. IMO pitchers with that delivery are ticking time bombs. I'm not an orthopedic surgeon, but Prior and now Strasburg have proven that that delivery is just too stressful on a human shoulder and elbow. I saw 101 mph and logic flew out the window. Sale does have suspect mechanics but he has the inverted W for far less time than Strasburg or Prior. I wouldn't be surprised if he injures his shoulder, but I'd give it a while.
