  1. Hawpe almost falls on his ass on a 3-0 pitch and a GIDP.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) Danks' curveballs sure look to be squeezed by the umpire this afternoon. Ump hasn't been calling anything high this afternoon. Changeup isn't looking as good as last time for Danks.
  3. I think the Rockies color guy is stoned out of his mind right now.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) How can you write a whole paper about Esteban German!??!?!?!?!?!? Research paper over Kafka's Der Jäger Gracchus and its Freudian and parabble characteristics. In German, all twelve pages of it.
  5. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) On a sidenote. I know that a LOOGY is a lefty reliever who's main role is to get left-handed hitters out, but I have never heard what exactly L.O.O.G. (and maybe 'y') stand for. Someone enlighten me if you can Lefty One Out GuY
  6. Ah yes, another thing to take time away from my German research paper, lovely.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) its a good question. IN the paper today it said Ozzie wants Boone to be our long guy and start stretching himself out for that role, so who knows. Jesus Christ, I'm waiting for Ozzie to manage something correctly for once. Logan is a LOOGY, you use him again lefties only, he's not a longman.
  8. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 05:04 PM) Well everyone keeps talking about him outperforming Erstad to this point, so I would think if he is told to step it up, he would need to seperate himself more from Erstad. And if all he is doing is matching him for hits, I don't think that is going to cut it. BA will make the team!! Don't worry. Truth be told, most of us don't care if Anderson makes or doesn't make the team as long as Erstad is grinding it to his maximum potential by hitting weak groundouts to the right side.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 04:57 PM) I still remember getting laughed at for suggesting we trade a starting pitcher for Adam Dunn. I can't believe some people actually think it's smart for us to be bunting in the first inning before our 3-4-5 hitters get up. I'd bat him leadoff just for s***s and giggles. f***, just get like nine Scott Hattebergs and the opposing team would have to switch pitchers after throwing so many pitches.
  10. The more and more I think about Pods and Erstad leading off, the more I dream of having two fat guys who can't run at the top of the order, but get on base 37% of the time. Anyone who has a brain in their head knows that the entire offense is premised around hitting three run bombs, so you might as well get the guys on base first before we try hitting baseballs into the concourse.
  11. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) Hilarious, stepping it up is hitting a single? Too bad Grinderstand has a single and a run scored. Because Darin really used all of his Grinder abilities to get on base and let himself get driven in by a homerun. That's f***ing Moneyball.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) He's been hitting better than Erstad for the last 2 weeks or so, and we've still gotten Erstad declared the starter and getting 500 at bats. Darin Erstad eats meat raw, chops down trees in the offseason and refuses to take a walk. That, folks, is a grinder (see: bad player).
  13. I've had the pleasure of talking to Kris several times, and while I've always heard he's arrogant, he's probably been one of the nicest players I've talked to. I remembered interviewing him in 2005 late in the season where he said he felt like he was dominating again, only to reinjure himself. I really hope Kris can get a good season under his belt this year and then keep pushing for the majors next year because I couldn't think of a nicer guy for it to happen to.
  14. You know how sometimes you don't breathe too deeply in fear of s***ting your pants? Floyd looks like that allll the time.
  15. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) It's obvious Danks wasn't fooling anyone the second time around with a major league lineup. That's not very good for his sake. He was still fooling people but his problem was missed location with his fastball. I was really impressed with Danks today, and I think a half-season at AAA could do him a lot of good.
  16. 1-2 pitch that caught too much of the plate for a guy like Branyan. Truth be told, Danks needs just a litttttle bit of fine tuning, and I'd like to see that in AAA.
  17. Fastball up gets jacked again. He needs to throw more changes.
  18. Bard jam shot single, Greene line drive single.
  19. Nice, nice way to bounce back for Danks. When he missed with his fastball this inning, he missed where no one could hurt him. Looking excellent right now.
  20. He's locating the fastball...okay. He's been missing a bit with it, but in the first he was painting with it. On most of his hits, he's been touched on the fastball.
