  1. Ricky is handling the lineups in Charlotte too. ?
  2. https://sabr.org/research/chances-drafted-baseball-player-making-major-leagues-quantitative-study A high school position player drafted in the 4th round has a 6% chance of making the major leagues. I would say making it as a pinch runner is a win even if they are a dime a dozen as you say.
  3. I find it funny that framing is used as s stat to judge catchers. If umpires would do their jobs framing wouldn't matter. Bring on the robot umps.
  4. The Twins have shown you can win without signing premium free agents and finding solid mid tier talent. The problem is Hahn is not good at finding the mid tier talent like the Twins have found.
  5. They should do like the NFL. You get a comp pick if you lose more free agents than gained and nobody loses a pick. Its like an extra round built into the draft.
  6. Agreed. Left handed bat with some pop. Can play multiple positions. Shouldn't be too expensive.
  7. Chances of a 4th round pick making it to the majors are not high. Especially a raw high school kid. If he makes it as a pinch runner that's a win.
  8. At worst if Beard can't hit he could be a valuable pinch runner in a playoff series.
  9. Let's find a couple more Bryce Bush type lottery tickets tommorow.
  10. I hope competitive balance picks are thrown away in the next CBA. They have to find something better than rewarding teams for being in a small market.
  11. Alex Call was traded for the great Yonder Alonso so I guess that counts. ?
  12. Plesac was a nice find for the Indians as a 12th round pick. Too bad the Sox couldn't find him with him right in their backyard.
  13. It's ok if the corner infielders combine for 70-80 HR.
  14. The comparison to Hamilton is ridiculous. Abrams hit tool is light years ahead of Hamilton's. I am not sure why so many here are afraid of high school players who are good athletes. The reality is that the Sox haven't many high school kids and certainly none this high so you can't really say they can't develop them.
  15. That's what everyone thought when they got Rodon at 3. That one didn't turn out to well.
  16. I would imagine Madrigal would be able to give the Sox good info on what kind of teammate he is.
  17. How about both. Trade him to a contender and sign him to a contract in the offseason a la the the Yankees and Chapman. As an extra bonus he could get valuable playoff experience which nobody on the Sox currently has.
  18. The only bad hitters in that lineup are Alonso and Sanchez. The rest are pretty good.
  19. Is James McCann the frontrunner at this point to start at C for the AL in all star game?
  20. Hahn did discover his cousin Josue who can't hit.
  21. Yeiner Cano, the #2 prospect from the 2018 class is also unsigned. Cuban RHP who is 25 years old. Could be a good bullpen arm.
  22. Just make it like they do in softball leagues. Once it's called a home run you don't even have to run the bases. Its ceremonial anyway.
  23. Time for Cordell and Palka to trade places.
  24. I didn't realize that is how options work. Good info.Regardless the Sox are in no position to give them up for nothing. They may have to call them up before they are ready.
