  1. I thought he was retired already too. Either way, you'll always be remembered as a hero to this fan base.
  2. Congrats Jimmy! You deserve it all, you did it the right way.
  3. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 05:13 PM) I don't think we'll ever see a lineup with both AJ and Flowers in it because we would have no emergency catcher. Yup, Ozzie won't do that. He's said it publicly before.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) Isn't Joey Cora highly thought of by Jerry? I think when Oz takes the Florida job he'll just name Joey. If Ozzie takes the Florida job it's because he was fired by the sox, not because he decided to leave. Cora's going with him.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) Wow, they really must hate Thome for taking the money and running. That was over five years ago. Did the Indians offer him a competitive contract before he went to Philly?
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) Well, he's at 145 or so right now...you figure they won't want to push him much more than 180-190. If you can get him to 175 or so, I figure he'd be fine to go as a full-time starter next year. I really will be interested to see what they do with Sale. A rotation of Sale/Humber/Peavy/Mark/Stewart could show you a lot of different looks over the course of a couple series. I guess I agree with Flavum, who advocated dealing Danks and Floyd in the offseason. We could restock our system with a few good arms to eventually replace Peavy and Mark down the road, and hopefully add a quality few position players into the system. Of course, you could always keep Floyd and leave Stewart in Charlotte and see what Peavy and Humber do and then if they prove healthy/effective, move Floyd at the deadline. There's a lot of uncertainty with that rotation that's for sure. If the sox have to shed payroll though, that could very well be the rotation next season.
  7. One of the many things I loved about baseball as a kid was a loud umpire. Even just called strikes and even more on called 3rd strikes. Still enjoy hearing and seeing it in the game today.
  8. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) Anybody still using hotmail today? Yup, internationally they've got the most users. I think I read not too long ago that Google Gmail just surpassed them in the US though.
  9. Spiders Especially when I run into their webs... pisses me off.
  10. One of my favorites is the episode where Lisa babysits Bart. Bart calls the CIA and tells them he saw a UFO so the CIA visits and tells Lisa "we got a report that someone saw a UFO at this address" she replies "no" and the CIA guy says "that's right no one saw a UFO and waves the dr's with the needles off". Then when she goes to the hospital with Bart, Snake goes to the counter and says "I tripped and fell on a bullet".
  11. Oh isn't this just great. Another White Sox controversy... Link
  12. Cliff Lee once again dominates and so does James Shields. Shields with 8 complete games and 4 shutouts now.
  13. Heroes EDIT: Actually, Arrested Development should be first.
  14. QUOTE (South Paw @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 08:05 PM) It's sad that Rios only changed his approach after Ozzie benched him for 2 games when he has sucked dick for 4 months It makes me mad to think he just now started making adjustments.
  15. Mark Buehrle has been my favorite for a long time now, but I do have a feeling that the six man rotation has really helped him pitch good this season. Since 06, his 2nd half splits have been worse compared to the first half with the exception of 2010.
  16. Coaching has been a problem with this organization for a long time now. It's improved since Buddy Bell has joined the organization, but there are still problems. There's been a number of sox top prospects that have hit at a pretty good level before they got to the majors and then flamed out. Now of course there are many variables attributed to this like the prospects shouldn't have been so highly rated or that nothing is guaranteed with prospects once they hit the big show, but I think there's still some coaching problems. I believe the constant hitting troubles has more to do with than just Walker, but I also believe that he's been here long enough to show some upward progress and he really hasn't done that. Year after year now the sox have had troubles hitting and I think it's time these players got a different hitting perspective from a different hitting coach. The loyalty this organization has to its staff is admirable, but please, it's time for a shakeup already.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Rios will be put on waivers. Everyone is during August. No one will claim him. Except a dumb GM... whoops.
  18. So just to be clear on this, Oney indeed started all of it?
  19. Price for parking is ridiculous. $23? Really??? They raise the prices it seems, every two years! Going to a game is no longer a spur of the moment thing unless you have money for such an expense. It's more of a treat every once in a while. Oh and another thing, I don't even go if I can't find cheaper tickets on craigslist because even sitting in the upper deck is expensive. Why would I want to pay those prices for crappy seats and no lower level access? I guess that's what happens when you have such a high payroll and field .500 teams.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) I take it Morel has been DFA'd? Is Morel not worth anything? His offense has been bad this year, but with his defense and his history of hitting in the minors, couldn't we get something for him?
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) I do that per device usually, and just make a ton of playlists and go off of that. Its kind of a hoarding activity, but I have so much storage on my iMac that its ok to keep around. Video on the other hand is really getting to be an obsession. I have so many seasons of every show on one of my hard drives its ridiculous. Everyone does it. It's bad... From hundreds of songs they don't listen to all the way to blurry pictures and duplicates of everything. I try to check the play count of songs on iTunes. If my iPod has never played it, in lets say a year, its gone.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) See ya Carlos and Jackson and Thornton I kinda doubt it. If they were to trade a starting OFer they would've called up Dayan, unless he's on DL.
  23. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 06:48 PM) MikeSolarte Mike Solarte Folks with @KnightsBaseball say DeAza being recalled to big club. Reason not known, but good for him. Was hitting .322 in CLT #WhiteSox 7 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply Are they moving Pena to 60-day DL?
  24. What's the correct answer when an employer is asking for your salary requirements? Is it wrong to be ambiguous and say that its up for negotiation? Pay isn't the only factor when deciding if I want a job. Or does is seem as if I'm being difficult and chances are they will skip me because I don't give a straight answer?
