QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) Chris Berman is a terrible human being, but especially so when he "calls" the HR Derby. I missed the derby, but just went to see some highlights. The only reason I am posting in this thread is to ask how Berman has a job, let alone the derby. His "back back back" call is the worse signature I've ever heard from any commentator in any sport. Absolutely excruciating...

Here's another one, foul mouthed people at the ball game. There's kids sitting right next to you!!
-
Aside from people getting up and talking all game long, the people who try to start the wave. For two games in a row now I've had the bad luck of sitting near the people attempting to start the wave. Yesterday I barely got to watch the game from the 7th inning on. And by the way, getting up and disrupting everyone's view of the game is inconsiderate. Unless its urgent, you should wait until at least the next batter to get up from your seat. Just because you buy a ticket to see a movie, does that give you the right to talk during the movie?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) Thing is you seem like a great guy and I wouldn't mind seeing you win here. Why not wait til she gets drunk again, make your move and see if you can get the sex you want with her? If she rejects you like the time I got rejected, fine, you'll know at least. But maybe you can hit it. You've put in a lot of work already with her. If you say the things you are planning on saying, it also will end I feel but maybe you can have sex with her once if she's had a couple drinks and has any feelings for you at all. Either way, you realize you have to run, so that's good. (BTW one of your best female friends is coming over tomorrow; does she have the hots for you like you have the hots for this other girl? These sagas go round n round) I wouldn't even try that. With some of the stuff shes said to him (such as she doesnt believe he has a dick or whatever) he has no chance, none. Besides, she'll be a wreck afterwards for 'feeling bad about doing it' and then telling her bf and possibly having more issues. Matter of fact, I wouldn't even go into detail explaining why he's cutting ties with her. I would just tell her we're not on the same page about the relationship and that's it. The more explanation you give her, the more I can see her sweet talking him into staying in contact.

I really hope Coop doesn't go. I know he's said he will stay as long as the organization wants him, but I've never heard him saying he's gone with Ozzie.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 05:36 AM) I'll send a post of congrats to one of my favorite prospects (top 3) we had in our system in his first all star selection.. Gio Gonzalez. Just a great year he is having. I'm with you on that one. I always had a feeling he'd turn out pretty good. -
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) I've been getting tons of advice from you guys and friends. Obviously most say if she's going to do that she's not worth it, which is true. Almost everyone says don't even bother talking to her. Saying don't talk to her is the easiest thing to say, but it's also the hardest thing to do. I feel like I need to talk to her to find out what happened to give me some closure on the situation. But I also think there's a good chance I won't be getting the answers I'm looking for, if any answers at all so it's almost not worth it. Haha I don't know. Can't believe I actually want this 3 day weekend to be over. We had talked about plans for the 4th and now they won't be happening. Everyone loves to give advice, however since they aren't the ones emotionally invested in it, it's easy for them to say. At the same time, it doesn't make anyone wrong. Chances are if she had something to say to you she would have told you before doing what she did. That alone makes me think it's a mistake to try to approach her trying to get closure. Even if she does talk to you, she mostly likely won't give you anything you're looking for. It's hard, but stop thinking about her. In situations like this its easy to think about the plans you would have had or think back about the good times you had, but that's just going to make it hurt longer. Anytime your mind wanders about her you need to tell yourself to stop and think about something else.

I thought Chicago newspapers had the ability to hire better writers... "my bad". Hineybird version 2.0? Would like for him to disappear into oblivion like the last one.

Really Jake? Going to start arguing with your teammate in the dugout like that? How about you earn your damn salary? -
Peavy to DL, Harrell back to Chicago

QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 11:30 AM) Aaron Poreda was DFA'd by the Padres which means only remaining player from the Jake Peavy trade is Clayton Richard. This trade is looking great on KW side but obviously we know Jake hasn't been one bit of what he was in SD as injuries have derailed his chances but only time will tell what sort of contribution is to come. I wouldn't describe the trade as great for Kenny. He didn't give up all that much yes, but when you consider the yearly salary Peavy makes and he's barely pitched, that's not good. Kenny (sox fans too) are hoping Peavy can come back and finally contribute on a consistent level. -

I'd love to see how many questionable calls ozzie has made this season as it seems he's more than ever in his career. -

There are two positions at the same company that I'd like to apply for. They're nearly identical, except for I think one duty/responsibility. I've customized my cover letter for the company. It probably wouldn't be wise to submit the same cover letter even though its basically the same job right? Secondly, I attempted to call and find the name and title for the person doing the hiring for the position, but I got no where. On the web site they have the hr director's name and the president for the department the position is in. Whose name should I address it to or should I do neither? Thanks

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) Hopefully it is okay that I resurrect this thread. I met a girl through a friend who goes to school with me...she goes to another school and is entering her senior year. I am now a graduate and am going to intern in St. Louis this summer. She and I began talking in early April and then met in May. We met in a variety of settings, with friends, alone and she came to stay with me for a few days for my 3 week summer session. She even went to a Sox game and wore our colors even if she's a Cubs fan at heart. When she came up to visit it was a lot of fun and lately it has been fun, just a bit slow to get to know her because she's slightly less outgoing than I am. The problem lies in that I haven't hung with her extensively, she's still a bit shy around me and I am leaving for St. Louis in a week so I won't see her for the whole summer. During the time I'm away I'm sure she and I will skype and continue texting/facebook chatting. And I might go down to visit her in the fall since I'll probably just be at home working at a part-time gig to make money while I find something full-time. I'd like to see where this goes and maybe make something of this. Someone said I should just keep it fun and not get serious. What would you do, keeping in mind that her college is about 2 1/2 hours away and she has a high interest level? Should I be prioritizing elsewhere and not focus on a relationship given the fact that I'm a recent college graduate looking to work on a career or at the very minimum, put some money in my bank account? Aside from the long-distance thing, another problem that you might encounter is that you guys will be apart for about a year. Seeing as how you two just met, that's a long time for a new relationship, chances aren't great for it to get through the full year. However, if you guys do stay in contact and see each other on the weekends, there's a possibility you two will get close and develop something, then you two can address it and go from there. It's best to keep things casual in the beginning and see where it goes.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 6, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) Shortly before school was out we received an email from our 8th grade administrator. The past couple months we noticed one boy was not his usual self. We finally found out what the problem was. Seems as if his parents took off around Christmas and left him and his barely 18 year old sister to fend for themselves. To make matters worse, they are undocumented, and without a social security number they do not receive any benefits. Outside of the breakfast and lunch we serve here, he isn't eating much. The kids do not remember living anywhere else than here. WTF, how can these kids be deported? Where would they go? They do not know any relatives here or in Mexico. Drop them off at the bridge and say goodbye? Man, I just can't stand to see kids hurt like this. It took me 45 minutes to be able to type this out, I was hoping it would help, but I think I'll just go home and cry for a few hours. Wow... that is a heart breaking story. Is it for sure that the parents abandoned them and not that something happened to them?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) Am I the only one that forgets Peavy is a White Sox? Seriously, no hyperbole. I totally forgot he existed until this thread was bumped. I'm not the type to say stuff like this, but I'll go a bit further than that. Until he shows he's earning that fat paycheck he doesn't even register to me as a White Sox... He said it himself last season...
