And that's a White Sox season
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Jordan4life_2007's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In all honesty, there are positives. Sale - Completed a 200 IP season and produced yet another season showing he's one of the best SPs in the game. Quintana - Proved to be a dependable starter after his first year in the majors in 2012. Continued developing Hector as a SP. Successful start in MLB for Erik J, Jake P, and Daniel W. Dumped Alex Rios Dumped Peavy. Acquired Avisail Garcia Lastly, Top 5 pick!!! EDIT: Ok, maybe wrong thread as these aren't favorite moments... but just wanted to shed some positive light! -
Make Hawk the hitting coach!!!!!

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 11:49 PM) Look around online, get an idea for what a slightly used Nissan Altima goes for and shoot for ~$500 below that. At that point anything you get in that $500 range is gravy. 500?? I've negotiated for a lot less on used cars before albeit from a private owner. Is this really all I should look at negotiating for?

I got an email from a hiring manager for a position I applied to asking if I was available for an interview. I replied and haven't heard back. That was 10 days ago... What is that all about?? In my brief experience, when an employer contacts your for an interview, they set one up days after.
-
Need some input from you guys... I'm about to start looking at buying a car. Looking at an Nissan Altima. In your experience of haggling with dealers, how much below a dealer's list price have you been able to purchase a car? I'm not looking to buy brand new.

GT 8/23: The Return of Alex & Anthony

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) Pretty impressive that AJP is batting fifth for the Texas Rangers. Obviously he's not washed up. It's apparent Sox made a big mistake in letting him go. One could make a case that our record would be better if we had a decent catcher who could hit. Haven't you said this exact thing before? Sounds kinda like bringing up Ozzie... -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) I saw them live at Lolla and they were pretty good. They are from the Chicagoland area. (edit) And the Lupe thing was okay. Not that amazing. Hes not on Kendrick's level right now, Good Kid MAAD City is unbelievable. I doubt All City Chess Team really wants to battle rap against Black Hippy. Lupe used many different styles, metaphors, and just great lyrics throughout the whole song. It's more than just ok... Then again that's my opinion. Also, if by not on Kendrick's level you mean he isn't as popular and doesn't get played on the radio like kendrick does then yes. As far as a lyricist, Lupe is one of the most respected lyricists in the game today. I'd say he's more than just on his level...
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) Speaking of Kendrick: http://www.stereogum.com/1435662/big-sean-...ectronica/mp3s/ Twitter has been going nuts over this for like 18 straight hours. On TWITTER. So I heard it a couple days ago. Kendrick really killed it. However, within doing so he opened up a lot of doors for rappers to target him. This was supposed to be intentional I guess. He makes a lot of claims that have not gone unnoticed. My favorite is Lupe's response... Lupe absolutely murdered it!!!! SLR 2! Wonder if Kendrick will reply to anyone that's responded. Hope so... he can't just start it and bow out.

Mark Buehrle must be feeling snake-bitten...

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 5, 2013 -> 08:14 PM) And he could have signed with a team that offers a no-trade clause last year, but instead he chose Miami and the money. I would probably do the same thing, but let's stop the Buehrle doesn't care about the money nonsense. Right, because I said that Buehrle doesn't care about the money... -

QUOTE (Jake @ May 3, 2013 -> 07:44 PM) He's going to be making huge money for quite a while. I don't think the baseball was ever THAT big of a deal for him. I think you're going far there. It's Buehrle we're talking about. He could've made a lot more money had he left as a FA in 07 and not resigned with us. -
Anyone use any free third-party applications to manage Apple devices (upload, download music playlists, etc)? I used to use iDump, but that ceased being updated.

2012-2013 NFL Thread

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) Its hard to imagine the Bears paying that type of money. I believe when Lovie was signed he was the lowest paid HC in the NFL. Granted he was now top 10, but I believe the Bears will have to pay Lovie + another HC next year. Which is why Im really not optimistic about the Bears shelling out a lot of money. I can definitely see this happening... -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 26, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan Reinsdorf statement: “A.J. will forever be appreciated and remembered by White Sox fans as a very special member of this franchise...'' "He earned that spot in our hearts. I personally wish A.J. the very best with the Rangers and with the rest of his career.'' “Every White Sox fan appreciates and celebrates what A.J. meant to this organization during his time in Chicago.'' 'AJ epitomized the South Side through his toughness, attitude, flair for the dramatic and his passion for the game. He came win every day.' Great quotes there. Really sums up my feelings and I'm sure I'm not alone. From the moment we signed him I was excited and embraced him. A very important player in sox history and we won't forget what he brought to Chicago. Thanks AJ! Wish you the best except against us.

QUOTE (lord chas @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 12:10 AM) so much for the pacman/mayweather super fight No, Mayweather is now going to want to fight him and Pacman, being the man that he is and proving he isn't done is going to fight him (though it's obvious he's on the decline). -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) I don't think his behavior was that bad. 1.) Loria laughed his butt off during the first meeting, counting Ozzie's F-bombs in the spring training speech. Loria thought it was funny. His ill-put together team sucked so now Ozzie is unprofessional cussing. Hmmmmm. You Oz haters: Please comment specifically on this point. Richboy Loria LAUGHED his ass off during Ozzie's first expletive-riddled speech to the team. Watch it on youtube. You tell me he's not a hypocrite??? 2.) Ozzie "loves" Castro. Very ill advised statement even though he explained what he meant. 3.) Heath Bell. Big fatboy out of shape after getting a big contract. Ozzie supported him all the way. Bell is a disgrace to baseball getting all fat like that and sucking just cause he had a great contract. 4.) Marlins trade everybody and give up. Ozzie didn't make a peep the second half of the year til the end when he yapped about Loria. 5.) Ozzie blasts Loria. Bye bye Ozzie. You gawn. But it was a deserved comment, putting the richboy owner in his place. It got Ozzie fired, but Loria can't take away the money Ozzie gets for NO WORK. So in Ozzie's mind he wins. He doesn't have to work a day for that crummy owner and gets the same amount of money he would have had he worked every day. 6.) Ozzie talks about his money and getting fired a lot and how he doesn't care: Who cares? That's another thing that wouldn't matter if the team was winning. He always talked like that in Chicago. Ozzie is the scapegoat for the lousy season. Whoever put together that awful team should be the scapegoat. And Loria was the guy who wanted Heath Bell. Hilarious. Loria should fire himself. What a clown. Moral of story: Will ozzie manage the White Sox again? If Jerry lives 20 more years ... yes. First thing Sox should do: Trade for Buehrle and bring him home. Trade Quintana and Morel for Mark and have Miami pay most of the contract. Or trade Quintana and Beckham for Mark. Greg you are unbelievable. You just can't admit you are wrong. You blame everyone else EXCEPT ozzie. It's always someone elses fault like if you're his 10 year old kid. My goodness...

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) Was there ever a story behind why Buerhle wears #56? Was this just a number assigned to him that he never cared to change when his stock rose? You answered your own question! -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 12:06 AM) Lupe Fiasco expressed his concern for the violence in Chicago, saying young rappers like Chief Keef "scare him" because of the violence they promote and partake in (gang warfare). In response to "Lil JoJo" being gunned down in Chicago recently, Keef took to Twitter to laugh at his death. Then Keef got Lupe involved and said he was going to slap him "like the b**** that he is" next time he sees him. All this culminating in Lupe Fiasco retiring from music. Needless to say..... f*** CHIEF KEEF I hope Lupe changes his mind. I'm not going to cry though. He's done this before. If he doesn't want to make music anymore, there's nothing I can do to stop him. By the way, Keef says his Twitter got hacked for those Lupe reply tweets.

Definitely, agree on this thread. From the moment we got AJ I knew he would do good on the sox. Thanks for all your hard work thus far AJ and will welcome you back next season with open arms!

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) One gets the feeling this was way over Colletti's head and was something Ownership had their hands in... That's true, however you'd think they would listen if he advised against it. Even then, if they don't perform someones going to have to be held responsible... And ownership can't get "fired" as easily.
