  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) He should be playing every f***ing day. No excuses. I dare you to revise your current sig to you know who.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) I beat both of you to it. I win. I could change that.
  5. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) Get him in the HOF folks.....just like Pods last year GIT R DUN
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Double header Sunday? Doubt it with ESPN's hold on Sunday night. It would be later in the summer.
  7. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) This is why people who give up on games in the 6th inning make me want to drink gasoline.
  8. QUOTE(PeoriaSoxFan @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) I still say, BA just needs to find that slump buster. Ah, so you just gave yourself away. Goodbye.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) Honestly, as much as I love Frank and I truely do. I'd take Thome over him any day of the week and twice on Sunday, especially in the long run. I just think Thome has been so damn good that he's made Dye and Konerko that much better this season. I'm not so sure Frank would have that same effect. I agree 100%, and that's why it pisses me off everytime a Frank hater has to mention Thome's name whenever they see Frank's. I don't think any of us disagrees with what the Sox did this offseason.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) He made Anderson appear like a scapegoat. Anderson is exactly what this team needs, sure we could use hte offense, but I'm really f*cking sick and tired of seeing terrible defensive outfielders out in CF and LF. We are a team built on pitching and our staff has given up quite a few extra runs because we've had Mack and Ozuna in the outfield way too much (In Mack's case CF). This blame isn't on Rob or Pablo, but it is on Ozzie who is putting these guys in positions where they can't succeed (at least not 100% because they suck at those respected positions defensively). We have 7 guys killing the ball, if thats not enough I don't know what is. So whats the harm in having two guys tha can catch the ball and make the amazing play as well. Anderson and Uribe are upper echelon defensive players on a team that has as good of a top 7 as anyone in baseball (offensively). Here's a hint....Brian Anderson should start in CF a minimum of 5 games a week, let Rob play 1 or 2 a week with him getting another start somewhere else (after all he is a utility man, give him Dye's days off as well as Thome/Konerko's and let him replace Pods with Ozuna playing SS on ocassion to give Uribe a day off). Excellent stuff Jason. I can't say I disagree with any of it.
  11. QUOTE(brewerbacker @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) View from a Brewer fan... I will go so far as to say that Brady Clark is not a "could" but a "will" go. Once JJ Hardy is back off the DL, there is a strong chance that Bill Hall could be moved to CF in order to keep him in the line-up every day. On days when Hall needs a day off or moves to 3B to replace lefty Cory Koskie, the Brewers will likely play a Hart/Gross platoon in center. Cory Hart and Gabe Gross will not be easily had. In addition to the reserve platoon they are likely to play in CF, Gross is our #1 left-handed pinch hitter. Hart appears to be moving into that role as the righty. Hart is also our fastest bench player, and Yost's #1 pinch runner. Manager Ned Yost has made many comments this year as to how much he likes the flexibility of his bench. Giving Yost that improved bench was GM Doug Melvin's #1 job this past off-season, so I don't see him trading it away now. I think Nelson Cruz could be had, but would you really want to trade for a prospect with virtually no big league expereince? And you are all right, the price for either Clark or Cruz would be pitching. (We REALLY need it with Sheets on the DL) The stuff on Clark is very encouraging. BTW, welcome to Soxtalk!
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) Hasn't it been proven that the egg came before the chicken? I swear I read that somewhere. Haha, I actually just saw an article on that.
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) I don't think the people who responded actually got this joke. Anyway, I would much rather they let Julie "The Cat" Gaffney play, but they don't let women on the team. Haha I figured it was a Might Ducks reference last night, but I don't have that big of an idea about our team period to confirm/deny the coincidence. However, Beaz did go to my middle and high school.
  14. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) In other words, he pitched bad? In the end, yes. However, he did look pretty damn solid from the beginning of the game through inning 6 2/3 of the game.
  15. Boo, he just had to do it against the Sox of course.
  16. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) I will never grow tired of bad defense!!!
  17. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) I'm completely in the other direction with how games affect me now. I get nowhere near as upset over losses as I did before. I'm happy with the 2005 Series win, and if they don't win it again this year, I can't say I'd be upset. Disappointed? Sure. But not upset. Let's put it this way - even Cliff Pollitte hasn't been able to piss me off. I wish I were like that. Before last year, I always said that I'd be so numb after a World Series victory, that I'd be completely fine with an 0-162 season the following year. I lied. I want another one bad.
  18. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) I understand what your saying. My cousin, who was always a "sox aficianado", someone who follows them from afar but not keeping track of every game, this year is Far more interested in the SOX than ever, so Losses to him are magnified now, so your right in a sense. We were at the game the other day, and we pointed out all of the Mental Mistakes in that game, and how the Tigers were exploiting them, and all I was able to tell him was, HEY thats what happens when you make mistakes against a good team Believe you me, I hate losing too Haha, I have to set the record straight, since the only comparison you could come up with was one of a bandwagoner. I'm not the way I am because I'm some bandwagoner that caught some Sox fever last October. This has been my team for as long as I've known baseball.
  19. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) I disagree. Thats what makes White Sox Fans SO UNIQUE. We expect excellence, and WONT TOLERATE anything less. You wont see SOX fans partying like its 1999 for a .500 team. I never said we were wrong. It does seem somewhat comical that that's where we are now. And because our expectations are where they are now, the losses seem a lot worse than they ever were in the past. And I don't particularly enjoy that aspect.
  20. I'm not exactly in that boat, but my fandom sure has changed. I feel like I'm insanely more bitter after any loss this year than I ever was in the past. And sometimes I hate the fact that I (and several of us) are not totally pleased with a 36-23 record. In any other year, we would be pretty damn pleased with that kind of record at this point. Our expectations certainly have risen and will stay that way for quite awhile now. I just have to say it was a lot easier being the optimist of years past and believing a World Series trophy is possible, versus expecting a World Series trophy. I need to turn my attachment level down a few notches to my teams, so losses don't get to me too much. Because this team definitely owns a great deal of emotions during the months of April through October.
