  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) Oh you s***ball... you voted for the Heat? I like D-Wade a lot. However, I got the Finals matchup I wanted, sans the Pacers. So I have absolutely no problem with Dirk and Cuban (IU!) the Mavs winning.
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) Wow. How about that? Dallas in the NBA finals. Next up - to see if I can scam some tickets. Holy f*** they came back!? That's awesome! This is the NBA Finals I wanted, so I'm very happy about that. Heat and Mavs.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) Funny how the Crede banner is used for a full game and the Sox just happen to win. And guess who had led off and had 2 hits in the 7 run 4th.
  4. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) The important question: was a game gained? No. More importantly, we didn't lose ground.
  5. And the losing streak is ova!!! The offense deserves all the dap tonight. That seven run 4th inning was absolutely huge. Hopefully that wakes the Sox' bats up for good. Let's take the series tomorrow!
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Its an upset if Politte gets anybody out at this point. Any of the gas cans at Charlotte can be at least as good as him. I say give one of them a try. I don't want to make a move just for the sake of making one through our farm system. People are seriously desperate enough to call up Montero. Everyone's in agreeance that Politte's not a safe bet for us anymore. However, I want someone that can get the job done. Not just another POS.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) Cliff is missing location, and getting rocked when he leaves pitches over the plate. Just saying there are no options and letting him get rocked night after night is not the answer. I am sure KW is working on something. Loyality aside this team is built to win this year. I don't think loyalty has anything to do with it. Politte's still pitching because we have no one readily available in the farm to step in and be servicable. And it will still take a bit more time before someone of value becomes available for trade too. I don't think anyone on here disagrees with Politte being awful. Jenks, Cotts, and Thornton can't throw every night. Someone's got to throw some pitches.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) Who cares about righty right lefty lefty match-ups with him. He's terrible. Use anybody. He should not be in a game that basically hasn't been decided yet. Even Hawk said if Matthews got a little under the only out Politte recorded it probably would have been on the concourse. Our bullpen is far from stellar right now. And if you run the pitchers into the ground that are decent, because you don't want to use someone, those decent pitchers will just get worse. There's absolutely nothing that can be done to change that until we get some new pitchers in that pen. We have nothing servicable in the farm, and trades won't exactly happen that soon for someone of actual value.
  9. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) Exactly. One game got Boone chased to Triple A. What does it take to chase Politte into his unconditional release. A legit arm to replace him with, something we don't exactly have at hand.
  10. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) The fact that Damaso Politte is in this game shows that Ozzie does not find winning this game important. Right.... :headshake
  11. Damn. I hope Albert has a speedy recovery. I love watching that guy bat.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) Rowand's? Very good. Duh. He was talking about Abreu.
  13. You need to go to more games, because your stories are awesome.
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Thome out of the lineup tonite. Gload starts at 1B and hits 9th. Cintron in for Uribe at SS, hitting 8th. Pods, LF Iguchi, 2B PK, DH Dye, RF AJ, C Crede, 3B Mack, CF Cintron, SS Gload, 1B. Vazquez, SP
  15. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) The asking price will be steep for Carl Crawford as well. The Sox will have a difficult time making the playoffs in a competitive AL Central with this craptacular bullpen. I'd rather have Anderson's piss-poor hitting but great defense and reliable set-up man than Crawford and no help in the 'pen. ^^^^
  16. Oh god, this is going to blow up fast on here. And people Garland CAN'T be traded this year.
  17. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Not sure this belongs here, but wasn't sure where to put it. Mods feel free to move it as you see fit, whether to another thread or to its own thread if that is warranted.... Anybody hear about the transfer rule the NCAA passed? The new rule allows a 5th yr senior who has graduated and has one year of eligibility remaining to transfer to another school and be able to play immeditely. The athlete would not have to sit out a year as is required with normal transfers. The rule may have been passed last year, but seems to just now be getting attention. It's purpose is to allow an athlete who has graduated, to transfer to another school for graduate school, not limiting his grad school choices. The first example, is a QB from Arizona who graduated in three years, will transfer to Vanderbilt this year and be eligible immeditely. He is a rare instance because he actually has two years of eligibility remaining and has graduated. Yeah, the NCAA is extremely kooky. I don't understand the reasoning a lot of the time. I just hope they never buy into this talk that the tourney needs fixing by adding more and more teams. There are always going to be snubs, and I personally don't want a 2 month tournament.
  18. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) You sit on the concourse? Doesn't that clog foot traffic?
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) In no way am I trying to live up to my moniker of Mr. Pessimism, but don't you think that maybe we just had a magical season where we got career years from a lot of guys, and the ball just bounced our way a lot? I believe there was some magic involved *COUGH* Rally Crede *COUGH*, but other than a couple arms in the bullpen, I believe everyone else is fully capable of repeating what they did last season. Oh well. I know I'm the polar opposite of you, but I did say at the beginning of this season we were going to disappoint people. At least no one can ever take 2005 away from us.
  20. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 11:45 AM) That is a good point, but what if we extend that point nationally. Say we go by popular vote, with our 2-party system, what happens if it is a landslide election for a Republican? What would the point be for any Democrat in the nation to vote (not just the one's in Indiana)? Point taken. I guess this thing's never going to be perfect, either way. It was just something I've always wondered about, being in this state. I just always figured a democrat's vote in Indiana would be quickly cancelled out in state, but with out the EC, it would mean something nationally. Thanks for bringing that other scenario into view for me.
  21. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) Are you saying that most people from Indiana do not want what the Republican candidates are offering? If so, then, stop voting so much for the Republicans. Then, the candidates will see that what they are offering is not fitting in with that state's concerns, and that they may need to change things. If they are voting Republican just out of the habit of voting Republican, then that is a problem with the voter. If they are voting Republican because of lack of other choices, then that is a problem with our 2-party system and not the Electoral College. My point is what's the incentive for a democrat to vote in a state such as Indiana? I don't really get into these kinds of discussions; so there could very well be something that I'm not seeing here.
  22. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) I disagree. I think that the less populous states won the presidency for Bush these past 2 terms. If you look at who voted for Gore and Kerry, I believe that it was incredibly bent towards the populous areas. Just because they weren't visited does not mean that their voice came through loud and clear. He is right though. Indiana's a great example of what Rex was talking about. This state is forever red, hence republican candidates never feel the need to stop here. And it's a lost cause for a democrat to do so either. The only way Indiana would ever be blue in an election, is if Evan Bayh is on the ballot.
