Nickelback plagarizes their own material.

QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:29 PM) did they cheer him after the home run? Yes, they did. It was all cheers from the time he came to the on-deck circle until he went back into the dugout. And it was just for him too, because they were booing hardcore on the next home run. However, I'm extremely happy that we've got a class group of fans, and Frank received the ovation he deserved. And hopefully all of this will bring some closure to everything.

I'm heading downstairs now. Here's hoping for a classy reception for Frank, and even more importantly a White Sox winner! -
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) So I flipped off my boss at work today, and called a co-worker a "goddamned whore" in his presence. What do you think happened? You got promoted?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:11 PM) It just might happen tonight. That'd be sweet. http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/inside_th...nd_arrives.html I can't think of what that can be, because I know he got his ring already. I figured they'd wait until tonight, but they didn't.

Ya, I posted this in the music thread. It definitely sounds very similar. I found it to be pretty disappointing.

After the commercial break, AJ's on. LOL AJ calls out Mariotti at the end for his article.
-
Well on the topic of the brawl (NOT THE INTERVIEW), both Wilbon and TK believe it should be at the least 20 games.
-
Mariotti will still find time to bash the Sox tomorrow in his column, but for the record, on ATH he said that the fans should give Frank a standing ovation because he was the greatest White Sox player ever. I expect a huge flip flop tomorrow.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) Mario gives me the silent treatment after my take (if it makes you feel any better). But Greasy, I will give you one update Mario made sure to bring up...the Rockies are back in 1st place. :headshake Can't wait for that banner. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) I totally understand and to each his own. I am sure If I were at the game I'd do the same (despite saying I wouldn't, but peer pressure is a b****). I did give Frank a pretty good cheer when I was in Anaheim and the A's played the Angels. And I hope he doesn't get booed...that I know. It would be a sad day in Chicago if that were to happen. And I'm glad a lot of fans will get teary eyed and really give him a great ovation (even though I'd have given just a few claps at the most). I know whenever I see Rowand play next and I'm at the stadium (same goes for Carl and all the guys that were a part of the 05 team, I'll make sure to give them a damn good ovation). Oh and next weeks show will be about the minor leagues a bit more so than the prior shows (special guest host to join us...maybe even two special guest hosts). I'll be back to listening and commenting on the show next week. Though, I'm still saying a lot here for not even hearing this week. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 22, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) But not me? You are looking at it from a what could we get for someone you dont like. Garland makes more sense with his age with peak years still ahead of him, while Garcia is aging and losing his velocity year by year. From a baseball what is best for the sox perspective, Garcia is the one to go. Ridiculously patient huh? They have been patient with him for every year Ozzie has been here, and we were rewarded with a great pitcher last year, and a good one this year. He will come around, you all were calling for Garcia's head with his first few starts, and now since he has turned it around, you are all over his jock. Jon is a good pitcher, and I expect him to keep improving throughout the season. He is 27 for god sakes, he will be prone to spells of bad games. Haha, I agree with you also. I just tuned into the thread as my two favorite posters chimed in. But I do agree that Garcia's on the decline, and I don't know if we want to put up with that.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) Unacceptable...haha. I do call Frank a hall of famer and the greatest White Sox player of all time. I just will never forget the fact that he said he would never have thrown out the first pitch had he known the Sox weren't going to bring him back. Thats utterly classless in my mind and it was the classless event in a long line of classless events that put things over the top for me. It sucks cause for a long time Frank was my favorite ball player ever. When I was a wee lad me and my friends would always debate who was better and no matter how wrong I was, I'd always say Thomas was better than Griffey (cause the Big Hurt was the man in my book; of course I always though Hawk and Whimpy called him the Big Hertz - thats cause I thought he killed the baseball, not just hurt it). Just as you are to west coast sports, Boz is to Buehrle, I'll always be that way with Frank. If that's a flaw, so be it. I've been on this rant all season here, but Cheat and Sox Machine coined it perfectly, 'so what?' I'll never deny that Frank wasn't exactly a god with words; he was probably too honest at times. He never seems to take the poltically correct route but ends up being blunt/honest. That's definitely hurt his stature and opinion with fans. Frank's the greatest player the franchise has ever seen, and I feel he's a huge reason the Sox have been a consistent contender year in and year out, the past decade and a half. Without Frank, there wouldn't have been much reason to build on anything. Frank was just upset that he was not brought back to the only franchise he knew. I'm not suggesting he should be here, but I can't be mad at that. I just feel that the Sox' greatest hitter, a future HOFer deserves a standing ovation from the one franchise that he earned all those accolades from. -
This is probably a first, but I agree with both Flash and Jabroni.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ May 22, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) Or maybe SS to replace, as John Miller from espn would say -- Oooribe. Unless all my Spanish teachers were wrong, Jon Miller's the only one that does say Uribe's name right. However, we'll never know, because no one can understand Juan.

I hope CSN shows whatever the tribute is to Frank. WGN randomly showed the White Sox video with the "Pirates" music yesterday. -
Official Cheer Frank Thomas Tomorrow Thread
greasywheels121 replied to GoRowand33's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 22, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) That I disagree with, he won us several key games that we ended up really needing with that home run binge he was on for about a month or so. I just wouldn't boo or cheer him since you can't boo the best player in team history, but I can't cheer him either because of the way he went out. We went 24-12 in the games he played in 2005, and we increased our lead from 3.5 to 12 games in that time. That increased division lead obviously gave the Sox plenty cushion to hold off a small spiral and an insane surge of Cleveland. -
QUOTE(knightni @ May 22, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) He'd only be a backup. Certainly his D can be worked on. Mack's only a back-up too.

The poll on the MLB page of ESPN.com has given us a possible opportunity to tell ESPN to ease up on their coverage on Bonds. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/index?&lpos=...&lid=gn_MLB_MLB

Bruce Levine speculates about Cubs suspensions
greasywheels121 replied to BigSqwert's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2006 -> 11:19 AM) Are the Cubs suspensions actually official? I don't see them anywhere on the web. Just rumors. As noted towards the end of this thread, the MLB offices aren't even open on the weekends. So there's no way suspensions would've been handed out yet. -

Ozzie's not the selfish one, if you think coming off the DL means nothing.
