  1. QUOTE(rudylaw @ May 22, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) I totally agree. Ozzie is all about TEAM. No one player is bigger than the team. So why does Jose's winning streak matter over the teams victory. Ozzie took Jose out because he did not want to put Jose in a position to lose the game. If Jose is the best pitcher and gives him team the best chance to win the game he should be in the game. I am sure Jose would rather finish the inning in that situation. Being his first start off the DL doesn't mean much to you does it? Contreras was right around 100 pitches, and that's always been about the magic number for Ozzie to pull a starter, if things were starting to get rough. I'd rather Contreras be healthy and not prevent any occurrence of injury in that first start, so he can help the TEAM for the rest of the season.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ May 22, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) Guess it's your alter ego posting death to Bonds, eh? :rolly Didn't you see the thread in PHT, Steff? He's just taking after his idol, Jay Mariotti.
  3. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 22, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) Danny Almonte is a lefty http://www.who2.com/dannyalmonte.html http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/20...gh-school_x.htm Don't mind me. I saw this article earlier this weekend, and my eyes must have went dyslexic on me.
  4. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 22, 2006 -> 02:56 AM) He's wearing a Red Sox cap. Yankees-Red Sox bidding war for him, anyone? That's definitely not him in the picture, unless he's ambidextrous.
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:47 AM) what a dumbass... im pretty sure it was 1930's, possibly 37? Those were the 1906 uniforms.
  6. The title's obviously from Family Guy. I never saw the DVD they put out, but some of the references sounded familiar. Was what they showed on Fox tonight the Family Guy Movie?
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 22, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) Frank and AJ hanging out, scary. Frank and Garland hanging out, awkward. I don't think there's much BS to that though; with the exception of PK, I can't remember him having problems with teammates. David Wells doesn't count, because I think we'd all like to forget that David Wells was on our team.

  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) CSN has the away broadcast, wgn the home I believe. We were on CSN on Friday.
  10. QUOTE(bmags @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) ******* ************ ****** ********* ******* Haha. For the future, you may want to check the schedule. But when CSN came around last year, if the game wasn't national, the Sox were on one channel, while the Cubs were on the other.
  11. QUOTE(bmags @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) whoa whoa whoa whoa hold up... hold up... why the hell did i have the cubs announcers for the whole game? Because you watched on CSN and not on WGN.
  12. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) And it's working, since everyone responds to it. Well if you want to be on everyone's ignore list, and be everyone's least favorite poster, keep doing what you do.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) Mack actually got a really good jump on that ball, I don't think Brian would have got to it either. As far as leaving Neal in too long, I disagree. I usually don't agree with what Ozzie does with the pen but Neal is our best reliever and can get lefties and righties out, the 8th should be his imo, lefty or righty. He just completely imploded after the error, that's all on him. Ozzie wasn't going to let JC get the L, that's how Ozzie manages. Yeah, people can't complain that Cotts was the one brought in or anything. It seems people are always complaining that Ozzie never uses Cotts at all or long enough, and now that he does, they say he shouldn't have. And JC needed to go out when he did. He was around 100, and though he showed no signs of the injury hurting him again, there's no reason to push him that far after not starting since the beginning of the month.
  14. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) To me, ignoring the critics is. If you can get people to read your stuff, I'd say that's pretty good, regardless of whether they agree with you or not. And to do it on a regular basis for 15 years, as Mariotti has done, that's even better. I'd say you're doing a good impersonation of Mariotti at this forum thus far.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) Before every game, Farmer asks Uribe what are you going to do. Juan proudly says, I am going to hit a homer. He guarentees a homer every game. Then he spends the next 4ABS swinging at anything relatively near the plate. Sometimes almost bounced in with large full cuts almost like its the home run derby. Its lovely when you have a guy who is wild as hell, walking the world and you are trying to rally and you see a few guys down Uribe is coming up. He strolls to the plate, and on the first pitch pops it up or GIDP to kill the threat. In the second half of last year he hit decent. He closed his stance off, and kept on the ball. Now he has completely forgot that and is back to his Tasmanian Devil impersonation. Juan needs to stop thinking he is Tejada, and start to hit the ball like a major leaguer. For all the crap Anderson has got on this board, Juan has been in the league for a while. He should hit a lot better than this. BTW Jason called his in ST that Cintron would be our starting SS by the allstar break. I think he will be right. I think Jas was actually saying Cintron would be starting at 2B.
  16. I'm just going to close this. It's been discussed a gazillion times this weekend, and everyone, including Michael Barrett said AJ did nothing wrong.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 21, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) While we play .500 ball against the lousy Twins, D-Rays, and Cubs in the last week or so they are kicking ass and taking names. Plus they play Kansas City next. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that you believe in Detroit now.
  18. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) Anybody got a link to this column? I couldn't find it in the Trib. That's because he writes for the Sun-Times. http://www.suntimes.com/output/mariotti/cst-spt-jay21.html
  19. Since this will fall fast with no discussion. I'll pin this for the day, since nothing else is up there. If you feel the need to discuss the topic, use this thread. EDIT: Apparently closing a thread ends all voting on the new board, but please don't post in this thread.
  20. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ May 21, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) Pistons about to finish the Cavs off. So are we all still witness? Bah. 3rd time's a charm for Sheed. :rolly I'm definitely pulling for Miami in the East.
  21. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 21, 2006 -> 05:19 PM) I think its a cool thing to do every so often. Agreed. However, I'm not a big fan of the uniforms we wore today. I hope those aren't used much more this season. I did like the 1959 jerseys we wore last year a lot though.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ May 21, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) Not quite sure why Hawk waited until the 8th inning to do this. Have no fear though Hawk, immediately after you said the stuff, the Cubs started their rally. Yeah, there's a direct correlation there. :rolly
  23. QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) Garland for Rowand What kind of pitches does Rowand have?
  24. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) Even though that is the case, how could you not be concerned with the way Cotts responded. He looked like absolute s***. Cotts did his job, he forced the ground ball for the DP. Everything after that shouldn't have happened. This is on Uribe today.
