  1. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ May 15, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) I'd love to see him break the single season record, although I think teams will start walking him and that will reduce the total to around 45 or so. I don't know if they'll resort to walking him that much with Paulie behind him.
  2. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 15, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) have we ever faced Baker? Is Dye just resting or reinjured? Just resting. It's a quick turnaround after a late game.
  3. With this weather, I've got nothing else better to do. I'm planning on loafing and watching a White Sox winner!
  4. You almost make me want to like the Cubs in spite.
  5. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) I think they have a good team, even w/o Lee. You can't blame injuries. Look at the Cardinals last year. They lost Rolen and still did good. The Braves played 18 rookies and still won. The Yankees have lost Godzilla and Sheffield. Heck, even the 2004 Cubs did good w/o Wood and Prior. Injuries are a part of any sport and you have to deal with it You can make a case that all those injuries weren't to their best player. The Cardinals' best player is Pujols; Braves: A. Jones; Yankees: ARod, Jeter; and the Cubs: D. Lee. Same kind of goes for the Sox in '04 with Frank and Maggs. I can't think of a case where a team truly survived without their best player(s).
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) Just doing what he does consistantly, no? Did anyone seriously think he would pull Mark after one inning...? Right; last night had to test Ozzie a bit more. Sure there were some errors, but it looked like every hit in that first was a shot. It's just reassuring IMO to have someone like that as a manager, because he'll never really lose his team like that. As I was alluding to earlier, it's just nice to know our manager isn't as fickle as the fan base tends to be.
  7. Thome will probably end up in the 40s. WH and I were talking about this last night, Pujols has some ridiculous numbers right now early in the season (.333 BA, 19 HRs). If he maintains this pace he'll only get 83 HRs. Sure that's a ridiculous number and 10 more than anyone else has ever hit; however, you'd figure he'd be on pace for 90 something at this rate. I guess my point is that projections are funny.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) Oh hell. Don't elaborate on that thought ....... PLEASE
  9. Last year I wasn't excited about the crosstown, because of our early success etc. However for some reason I'm pretty excited about the series starting this weekend.
  10. Yep, Ozzie deserves a lot of dap for sticking with his guys. And that's a big reason these players perform so well. Because if the consensus of SoxTalk was doing the managing last night....
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) Anyone else also notice that Bobby was topping out at 99 on the gun? Cotts was hitting 95 on that gun too. So Jenks wasn't that fast last night.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ May 15, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) They're like 4-0 when he makes those guarantees. That's what I was thinking. I was trying to look up when he made the previous ones, but I couldn't find them.
  13. Sheed's guaranteeing a victory in game 4; this is becoming an annual thing for him.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) VORP? Your game-thread record.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) I'm not offended, he wasn't saying anything about me, however for Frank to go out like a baby towards the organization that brought him up, paid him and treated him like a king, and won him a world series ring while he couldn't walk.....was a bit sad. And if you don't know what specifically what he said about the organization, then you clearly werent' paying attention. And yeah I talk a lot about it, simply because I'm baffled at the Frank defenders. You can defend his numbers as a player (which need not be defended to be honest), but his personality is indefensible and I can't believe people try to do it anyways. Who in this thread has defended that? I'm not denying the fact that Frank had an attitude problem at times. We're all past that. It's only you, Boz, and Nuke that keep bringing it up. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) A lot of Sox fans who grew up watching baseball in the 90's became Sox fans because of him. Just because you don't like him for your own reasons doesn't mean you have to b**** about Thomas every f***ing time his or Thome's name are brought up. This is the modern day attendance thread, the next time you see Frank's name posted on the site do us all a favor and just ignore it because most people are getting sick of reading your bulls***.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) This was discussed during the game today by me and a couple friends of mine, if the pitcher makes the error why the f*** is it unearned? He's the one that messed up it she be an earned run, this is also another example of how ERA can be flawed at time. Only one stat matters.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) lol @ the Frank defenders, so silly. Oh, and you say it's my fault for stirring the pot like I care CWSGuy, which I don't. I couldn't care less, and why would anybody go to Cooperstown to see Frank be inducted? He will probably just rip the organization like he always does. For someone that doesn't care, you sure do talk a lot.
  18. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) I was in the chat room. You make several time for both when s***'s hitting the fan.
  19. Losing streak = OVA! Buehrle started out very rough, but he settled down and recovered very nicely. The offense was solid from top to bottom tonight; maybe we should stick with the pink bats.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) There was definitely a change in our hitting philosophy from the 5th inning on. Lots of uppercut swings....which doesn't exactly work if you're not facing Silva. I blame the fumes of the pink bats.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 14, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) Never mind. He was toast there. Don't quit your day job.
  22. Nice catch by BA! Rowand-esque w/out the blood.
